I love that second dress! I have to dress super low key at work because I work at an engineering firm with all older men... and they do not get style whatsoever, but that outfit would be perfect!
The first one is most definitely my favorite!!! Saw it when you posted it on twitter and have been wanting it ever since! With the free shipping it is tough to resist!!
briana, that is awesome that you wear scrubs; my friend is a doctor and always focuses on her shoes and nails since that's all she gets to show off, ha! :)
I love the first one the most, too. This post made me laugh because I thought of how office romances and the supply closet are a running joke in my office. We always want to knock before we go in there because it seems like that's where office romances happen. For April Fool's day, I put a tie on the door for the day like we were all being sexiled, and everyone who got the joke loved it!
love the first two, and the third feels so feminine and flirty. i work at a casual dress start up but constantly wear fun dresses. why not be fancy every now and then :)
J Crew is in top form lately! I work in my studio, so I don't wear pretty things like this to work... I sometimes wish I had a job outside. But then again, I don't. =) xo isa
Heck, I'd wear the first one to a wedding! I love the second one for work. Where I am now, I can literally wear whatever I want.. I should really start dressing up though.
I'd wear them all, if I could afford them! As a Catholic school teacher saving money for my June wedding, I don't have a lot of money to spend on clothes (heck, I can't remember the last time I bought any new clothes for myself!). I especially love that first dress, you could wear it pretty much anywhere!
I love the first one. The fit is beautiful and it's classic but has a little something special with the detail on the sleeve. It'll also transition beautifully to fall with some thick, cozy tights and a colorful cardigan.
I really like the first and third looks. I am a high school English teacher and my typical work look is a blouse and pencil skirt or a dress with fun accessories. I'm definitely dressier than most of my colleagues, but that's just my style. One student said to me, "You're not like the other teachers; you got some style." I was definitely flattered!
As a busy Mom I love how all the models have their hair just simply pulled back...I think they all look effortless to wear and look like you put in the effort
As a busy Mom I love how all the models have their hair just simply pulled back...I think they all look effortless to wear and look like you put in the effort
I would wear any of these! I try to switch it up at work; sometimes I dress up, sometimes trendy and some days...it's just leggings (dressy sweats) and a long button up shirt. :) xo www.aminuteinthelifeofmaria.blogspot.com
I actually tried on that last black dress at jcrew recently and I have to say, it was soooo incredibly soft and comfortable. The fabric felt like cashmere. I couldn't justify getting it since I already have a similar, though less luxurious, dress from Target, but I'm still pining for it a little.
loving number 3 the most! shirt dresses or similar styles are my favorite for a casual but still appropriate work wear. i wore a blue anthro one today :)
These are way too good, way too much, way too expensive, way too elegant to work in an office. Maybe if you work at a giant intarnational company an d you are rich, it is ok. But here in Hungary, for example I work for the tax office, and if one day I would wear this, everybody would ask: are you going to a party or to the theatre after work?
Wow. I would love to be nicely dressed at work. But like a flower person I always get a bit of "dirt" on my cloths especially under my nails. Thank god for all dark lovely nailpolish. ;) i have to try your tipp. I dress nice but very practical.
I love the top one! but probably I would buy the third one. I could use it when I have my flower consultations. The contrast might be to big if I came in the top one:)
love the top one too!! i am a preschool teacher and although its a luxury to dress pretty casually for work.. sometimes i wish i had a wardrobe full of cute clothes like that! when my husband has work functions for me to go to.. i never have anything to wear!
First time coming across your blog and I love it. It's so different from the more "fashion" blogs I am into. You just made me want to purchase a star projector !
Swoon. I love that tan shirtdress. That's gorgeous. I'd wear that everyday, work or weekend!
Usually to work I wear a polo and khakis, a cotton button down with a vest, a super feminine necklace and dress pants, or sometimes a cardigan/tulip skirt combo. I try to mix it up as best I can, repurposing whenever possible. Thrift stores are great for piecing stuff together.
But imposible to wear to my office, it is in a factory and i must go into the lines of production... could you imagine me with one of these dresses there??? With the security shoes... ha ha!
Oh, that second outfit has me going. Although, I'm happily married, and don't work. hahah. SAHM, here. But I still like dressing up nice for the hubster.
I saw that first dress on JCrew about two weeks ago. It was like a dream come true, because it reminds me of a Lanvin dress my friend's mom wears to work. I love this dress, but the price does run a bit steep for me. Maybe I'll invest in it at the end of my school semester for one of my business class presentations.
Dresses are where it's AT for me. I can't be bothered to match pants to tops. Throw on a dress, all you have to worried about are shoes. It's prefect, it's me.
I would wear ALL these dresses and right after I finish this comment I am heading over to J. Crew to check them out a little further.
The first one is a definite date/snag him look. Sophisticated and mostly covered up but also suggestive and interesting looking. I realise the dress is on a model, but I really think it would look pretty amazing on most women. The second one is a definite 50s/early 60s polished and pretty secretary look.
The first one looks effortlessly chic yet comfortable. I would add that to my collection if I was in the workforce. But also, that second one has such a powerful vintage cut coupled with a modern flair that it could stop traffic.
I think the third from the top is more my style but they are all lovely! I've been thinking a lot about "office" attire because I will be interviewing for a new job pretty soon. My old work was super casual and I am a graphic designer so I just don't know...:)
Loooove the second one!!! But even if I weren't married, every single man in my office is old enough to be my father, so definitely no office romance for me!!
I like youe style a lot! Great outfits :) Need new jewellery? Check out my new collction :) all items are unique, han made. May fit to your outfits :) Greetings from Poland! http://agata-glass-beads.blogspot.com/2011/09/fancy-kava.html
I found this informative and interesting blog, so I think so it’s very useful and knowledgeable. I would like to thank you for the efforts you have made in writing this article. I am hoping the same best work from you in the future as well. In fact your creative writing abilities has inspired me. I really thought that blog is spreading its wings rapidly...
The first one, definitely! It looks gorgeous, and comfortable.

XO, Erin
I'm in dire need of a work-wardrobe update. I'd wear 4 and 5!
ReplyDeleteOh I WISH I could wear these things to the 'office.' I'm an RN in a crazy-busy E.R. so it's scrubs for me!!
ReplyDeletebriana, that is awesome that you wear scrubs; my friend is a doctor and always focuses on her shoes and nails since that's all she gets to show off, ha! :)
ReplyDeletemeesch, that would be perfect! they'd probably all have crushes on you bc you'd remind them of gorgeous girls in the 1940s!!
ReplyDeleteThis is why I crave working in an office again. Sigh. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love the first one!
ReplyDeletethe first and third are my favorites ... just lovely!!!
ReplyDeleteLove all of them, especially the first dress; however, I would probably freeze to death and resort to burning rare books.
ReplyDeleteI love the first one the most, too. This post made me laugh because I thought of how office romances and the supply closet are a running joke in my office. ReplyDeleteLove #1 but would wear 3 & 4 as well.

ReplyDeletebeautiful dresses. love the 2nd one!
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty. Just goes to show that office wear doesn't have to be dull and boring.
ReplyDeleteLindsay
The top and bottom for sure!!
ReplyDeleteI had a little office romance a few years back... super stealth and surprisingly easy to be undercover. It made getting dressed for work WAY more fun!

Oh J. Crew! Be still my heart.
ReplyDeleteThere was this one Jcrew work dress that had white sleaves poking out...name escapes me but my jaw dropped.
ReplyDeleteHeck, I'd wear the first one to a wedding! I love the second one for work. Where I am now, I can literally wear whatever I want.. I should really start dressing up though.

ReplyDeleteLove number one and two.

ReplyDeleteALL of them! Love love love!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely in love with these dresses, I actually just it the dress!
ReplyDeleteI love the first one. The fit is beautiful and it's classic but has a little something special with the detail on the sleeve. It'll also transition beautifully to fall with some thick, cozy tights and a colorful cardigan.
ReplyDeletei kind of never have a reason to dress up. these are all awesome.
ReplyDeleteahhhhhh!!!! i loveeeee the second outfit!!!
ReplyDelete♥ allister bee blog
Id go with the last one, effortlessly sexyssly sexy
ReplyDeleteooo I love these! my work doesnt really allow me to wear that (in scrubs) but if I could.. i would!
ReplyDeleteThat first one embodies everything I hope for when I peek at myself in the mirror before work.
ReplyDeleteSo great! I admit, I've let my work wardrobe slide--I'm definitely looking for a revamp. I would wear any of these, but that first one is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteAlso, your notion of "office romance" reminded me of this silly song about a temp and a receptionist:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Quv5tSj251I
It makes me laugh every time.
All of them probably, but I think the third one appeals the most to me - a little less strict. These are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThese are all adorable, but I particularly love the top two.
ReplyDeleteI really like the first and third looks. I am a high school English teacher and my typical work look is a blouse and pencil skirt or a dress with fun accessories. ReplyDeleteEveryone can use a bit of romance. Particularly in the office or the office wardrobe ♡
ReplyDeletethe first and second are my faves :)
ReplyDeletei love the first and second ones, but being a designer for A&F we wear tees and jeans and cardis to the office every day. it's very nice :)
ReplyDeleteohh
ReplyDeletei just discover your blog and i really like it!!!

ReplyDeleteooh that top one is stunning.
ReplyDeleteThe first one is my fav.
ReplyDeleteI blogged about that top J Crew dress in August. I LOVE it!!!
ReplyDeleteOooh, if I were still a working gal I'd wear any one of these.. Great looking!!
ReplyDeleteThese are all gorgeous. The first is beautiful, but I would DEFINITELY wear the 2nd. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the second one. Brown is a neglected color that I'm just starting to notice again.
ReplyDeletereally kinda adore dress number one!
ReplyDeleteahhhh!!!
love that origami sheath dress, but it's out of my price range:( blarg!!
ReplyDeleteall 'em.
ReplyDelete#3 is darling. i would do the whole "let my hair fall out of the bun" thing... totally gonna work
ReplyDeletereally digging the 1st and 4th one. J Crew is great- wish I could get em all but not on a student's salary! Thanks for showing these!

I am totally in love with the nude dress, although I would never look like the model does. Damn my height!
ReplyDeleteI like the 1st & 3rd :)
ReplyDeleteThe 2nd is cute, but probably wouldn't work with my broad shoulders.
