Have a lovely (long) weekend.

My darlings, what are your plans for Labor Day weekend? Alex's mom and sister are visiting for a couple days. Alex's sister is obsessed with a piano bar near our apartment called Marie's Crisis Cafe--where an ex-Broadway actor plays the piano and everyone sings show tunes. Have you ever been there? It's a nutty scene. Meanwhile, hope you have a wonderful weekend, and here are a few great posts from around the web...

Beautiful ship stamps from the post office.

Would you ever elope?

Bag-o-dresses is a cool idea.

Pajama eaters.

Handmade wooden boats.

Win $1000 for your baby. :)

that bar sounds like one I went to once when I was in NYC. It was sooooo fun! The people were so talented and it was certainly nutty, but very fun! Have a great weekend. LOVE the Bob Marley quote. God, he's awesome.

  20. I think my friend, Lilly, used that anchor stamp (or something like it) on her wedding invites last year. She did a nautical theme and it was wonderful! I am ordering those stamps at the post office on Tuesday - I love them (and just ran out of stamps!).

I would totally elope... or get married at the court house like one of your recent posts highlighted. I'm pretty low key. Now just have to find the guy. ;)

  23. Marie's is the best! My former work partner (now my husband--though we were strictly co-workers at the time) used to go there all the time when we were in NYC for work. I am a theatre geek. He is a good sport. One time, this guy named Adam (we met him that night) went into some sort of shock/seizure and the ambulance was called and he got shuttled off to St. Vincent's. About 2 hours later guess who waltzed right back in....ADAM! It's a one of a kind place and one of my favorite spots on the planet. Enjoy! Sing out, Louise!

  56. I just saw this post and have to reply! When I lived in NYC a few years ago, a friend was visiting me for the weekend and we somehow stumbled upon Marie's. We walked down the stairs into one serious sing-a-long! My friend and I were the only women in the place and realized that we didn't know nearly as many show tunes as we thought . . . but had an absolute blast nonetheless. Fun, fun memories!
