Yesterday was an exciting day in the Goddard-Williams household. After months of clutching the coffee table and wobbling around on tippy toe, Toby STOOD all by himself for the very first time!!! Look at the balance! The posture! The nonchalance! Huge congratulations, my little one, from your very proud mama.(You've come a long way, baby.)

Haha--YAY--Way to go Toby!! He looks like he is saying "Yep, I got this standing thing, no big deal". Too cute!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats little man! He'll be walking in no time, now comes the REAL fun :)

ReplyDeleteyay! bravo :) xxx
ReplyDeleteiloved your comment Joanna! ("it's like an orange on a toothpick.")
ReplyDeleteI think Toby looks very much like that Nick cartoon character Jimmy Neutron. He's got a big head as well and he is very brainy, as Toby is :)
Woo! Get your running shoes on!
ReplyDeleteWell done Toby and I can only say lucky you Joanna! my son started walking at 8.5 months and with NO spacial awareness to speak of at that time, life was bumpy to say the least. Now at 1 year he climbs everything. His buggy, the stairs, the coffee table and the back of the sofa have all been conquered. If I hear silence for more than 3 seconds, I don't even bother to look for him on the ground, I just look up!! Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteomg that's so sweet Toby

ReplyDeleteBravo, Toby!! Such a significant milestone in his (and your) life! Looking at his little face in this picture just makes my heart swell :).
ReplyDeleteYay!!!Rock on Toby. Must have been a beautiful moment for you!!!
ReplyDeletegah! don't you love this stage? way to go, toby!
ReplyDeletemary, yes! this stage is the best:) they're still chubby babies but also little people. it's so endearing.
ReplyDeleteAww yay!!! And he does it so well!
ReplyDeleteyahooo Toby!!!!! soon he'll be running all over the place. ;) xo
ReplyDeleteYey!!!
ReplyDeleteDid you know the trick that if you put something in their little hands (like a drinking cup!), they will feel like they're holding on to the table and forget that they're standing all by themselves. My kids took their first steps when holding something in their hands.
xx
Congratulations, Toby! You did it! What a beautiful moment this must be in a mother's life! It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it :) Toby looks so adorable - indeed, he like a little man. I also really love his shoes!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy this new stage in Toby's (and your) life!
Lisa
Awwwwww! Toby, Toby...YOU GO BOY!!!! ^_^ How exciting!!!
ReplyDeleteYay! Felicidades Toby. This is so exciting!
ReplyDeletecongrats toby!!
ReplyDeletethis post just made me think about how you kept your maiden name. can you do a post about that?!
hyphen or not? children's last names? is it work related or a personal choice? i think it's really interesting now how so many people have so many viewpoints what is modern/traditional/feminist/none of the above. could make for an interesting conversation!
yes, hannah, absolutely! :) good idea.
ReplyDeletecourtney, that is fascinating! he would only stand when he was holding something -- that must have been why!
ReplyDeleteThe POISE with the sippy cup!
ReplyDeleteMy baby boy is just starting to crawl and I wanna high five him (impossible, but sounds awesome) every time he learns something new! It's so fun!

ReplyDeleteyoo-hoo! Congratulations, Toby, way to go!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny those little moments- parents are stuck there mouths gaping while the babies act as if they have been doing this all the time -when we are not looking ; )
our 10 month old used a little chair as a walker the other day and I was almost surprised and she was!
Hip, Hip Hurrah! Toby!

ReplyDeletehis profile looks SO much like alex!
ReplyDeleteHe looks like such a big boy standing there! Let the fun begin Mom and Dad!!! YAY Toby!!!
ReplyDeleteI love this period when babies grow into what I call "real people". Then you can dress them up in more serious outfits and they can run around like minature business men or so! Soooo adorable!

ReplyDeleteCongrats! How exciting, he is adorable.
ReplyDeleteCute little shoes on that standing boy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie!
ReplyDeleteMy oldest was 13 months before he took a single step {and his first steps were all backwards! I was so concerned about that until her FINALLY began walking forward.} My baby, however, took her first steps at 8 months! I felt like I didn't get a "baby" because she was always so eager to catcher her brother she pushed everything forward. Taught me to Enjoy those milestones no matter when they're reached!
ReplyDeleterecently found your lovely blog & have been going through the archives...my lo is approaching the same milestone right now, and i just wanted to join the chorus on complimenting those adorable shoes - where'd you find them?
ReplyDeletethanks for all the ideas & inspiration - so glad to have stumbled upon them!
