United States pillows

Oh. My. Goodness. I adore these hand-embroidered United States pillows, which feature cities, states, countries, regions and national parks. Aren't they fantastic? Which would you get? Where are you from?

P.S. State cheeseboards and city prints.

  1. I'm from Philly, but I'd be hesitant to get a pillow of the state of PA. Everything between here and Pittsburgh is considered the boonies.

  3. Cute! Can I get an Australian one? ;) (I like the Hawaiian one best, though.) X

  4. Definitely Vermont. And maybe Ski Vermont. I lived there when I was young although I can't reasonably say I'm from there since we moved so much. It's just the place where a huge piece of my heart will always be.

  5. I have to admit they are pretty fantastic! Love all the mix of colours. I would have to get Texas since I'm from Paris! ;)

  9. Oh, don't get me wrong, a lot of the state is really pretty (your family's house sounds lovely!) but you're right, there isn't a whole lot going on!

  14. I agree with Erin about being from Philly and not necessarily wanting a Pennsylvania one. I'd rather get one from a place where I have vacationed and have great memories. How about Maine?

  19. So fun! I'm from NJ, but my region of the state isn't really represented on the pillow. Probably because Warren County (in the northwest quadrant of the state) is really nothing but a bunch of farms. :-P

  20. Ok, I realized that they actually make city pillows and lots of other specific ones too. Perfect!

I'm from Illinois, but I'd love to get a pillow from every state my husband and I vacation to (we take a roadtrip vacation each summer, and so far we could have collected South Dakota, Wisconsin and Missouri). If only they were a bit less expensive, because they are darling. :)

At $149 a pop, I will stick with my memories of my home state, Michigan. Always free and my dog can't pee on those! :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Panda Bear... these take a WEEK to embroider, frankly, there are few people who would do a weeks work for 149 dollars, so I wouldn't say they are over-priced...

I was just coming on to say I couldn't believe how cheap they were for that amount of labour!

    wowzer :)

  46. Panda Bear11:54 AM

Abigail, as a public school teacher, $149 for a pillow is out the realm of possibility. If you can afford to spend that kind of money on luxury items, I am so happy for you! Please go buy a few! I'll be buying groceries, if that's ok with you?

  56. These are lovely but I prefer the actual vintage ones. They used to make pillows like these with embroidery, prints on silk, and even velvet painted ones. I got a vintage one in Alaska and was told that they were originally made for soldiers to pick up at their different locations to ship home to their families instead of postcards.

  57. Couldn't buy one, even though they're cute, because they spelled my alma mater wrong! They called UW-Madison "U of Wiscosin" !!

  75. Love these but wish they just sold the patterns. I'd love to stitch one. Their website says it takes an artisan up to a week to make one, so at $150 a piece the person is probably making $2 an hour, if that.

I left 10 years ago and moved to California for the big city life. All of my family and most of my wonderful childhood friends still live there. I really might have to get these pillows to place on my couch for an everyday reminder.
