What are your plans for the weekend? Since Hurricane Irene is heading toward New York (eeps!), we're planning to stay indoors most of the time. I'm envisioning drinking wine, eating chips and dip, and letting Toby take like 18 splashy baths. Hope you stay safe wherever you are, and in the meantime, here are a few great links from around the web...(P.S. Thanks for a really fun relationships week!)Clever decorating.
Finally saw Bridesmaids--it was hilarious.
The sweetest post. Someone hire Sharon, she is the best! (Also hard-working with a great blog.)
Love these heart earrings.
And heart tights!
A breakfast banana split.
How to swim with all your stuff.
Rainbow hair. Would you do it?
The funniest Craigslist roommate ad--I want to live with this dude. :)
My summer favorites at Felt + Wire.
The Zagat History of my last relationship. (Funny if you know what Zagats is:)
Plus, for relationships week, here are five romantic posts from Cup of Jo:
* A sweet framed receipt.
* What people look like before bed.
* Big or small wedding kiss?
* Old-fashioned veil.
* A short video about true love that will break your heart.

wine, chips and dip sounds lovely! have a cozy weekend in and stay safe!
ReplyDeletehi joanna! stay safe during the hurricane...I live in New Jersey and I'm trying to stay calm....
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the links this week; the craigslist ad is hilarious! I want to live with him, too!
stay safe and dry!
ReplyDeletewe had irene in turks and caicos this week, watched movies and ate popcorn until we were out of power for 24hrs - but otherwise all safe!
Yeah, the hurricane has sort of rearranged my weekend plans too. My last weekend in new york will be spent eating homemade tacos and drinking wine with my sister while we watch movies. As long as the power doesn't go out, in which case I think there's an old monopoly board around here somewhere... Let's hope Irene is gentle with us!

I'm in Michigan so we'll probably get some effects of it. Stay safe! :)
ReplyDeleteOh and by the way, I absolutely LOVE the rainbow hair. And yes, I think I would do it. Check out this version:

That Craig'sList ad made my belly flip and giggle. But it is the short video about love that made my heart swell. We are lucky people, those who know and recognize that love. My mother passed when I was a very young girl and I always felt that, with this experience, I have learned to so appreciate the great love that comes, settles in the heart, and stays long after the person is gone. And, full disclosure here, I learned to love better and fuller from that loss. And now, these days, my husband just further extends that love. I feel blessed and I hope everyone else feels this same way at least once in their lives. Enjoy a beautiful (and safe) weekend.
ReplyDeleteI loved the relationship series... I think you should do more! Stay safe!
ReplyDeletelove this post!

ReplyDeleteWeird, did you notice that the picture of the hurricane was on the nasa goddard site? was that intentional? Heres the best, humorous "how to prepare for a hurricane in ny list" I have ever read thanks to thelilbee.com http://gawker.com/5834445/how-to-prepare-for-a-hurricane

ReplyDeleteoh my god. here in germany (and i guess all over the world), we follow the hurricane irene through the media and i can't imagine how scary it must be for you. we hope you all stay safe and keep calm. our thoughts are with you.
ReplyDeleteanonymous, only one of them: the soulmate post. i change it a bit, but it was from the very first month i was at smitten. i loved that post (because it was so true to me) and i wanted to share it here, since i know so few people read it on smitten since the blog was *just* starting. :) the rest was original--and some big new posts, like the city hall wedding, hair tutorial and alex's side of the birth story.
ReplyDeleteLove the sweet framed receipt, such a good idea.
ReplyDeleteHope you're safe this weekend!
What a lovely post.
ReplyDeleteLove the framed receipt... I kind of want to copy cat that idea.
I love NYC taught me... gorgeous blog, thank you so much for sharing! Did you see how she styles her children? Oh my god, it is to die for. Such great tips.

Oh and I would not do Rainbow hair. I've seen this before and it looked awful! A friend of mine has Terrets Syndrome (I know I spelled it wrong sorry) and we were out one night and this girl was making fun of my friend and she had Rainbow hair. So, that's another reason why I don't like it, it would remind me of that girl. Plus it would look really weird if a 33 year old was walking around looking like that.
ReplyDeleteI love rainbow hair and funky blue or red hair in moderation. Would definitely try it.
ReplyDeleteI'll be cleaning my room, decorating the walls of my room with posters and photos I've collected over the summer, bleaching the ends of my hair, and baking lots of cupcakes C:

Seeing the battering NYC is taking on the news, hope you have escaped unharmed.
ReplyDeleteThank you, the weekend has been a calm one. Just now the wind started to blow and curtains on my balcony are flying wildly. Maybe it is a sister to Irene blowing in here. Hopefully she is treating you gently.
ReplyDeleteHave a good Sunday!

About relationships, here in Galicia we say that couples have to be physically alike to have success and you and your husband are very much alike. In fact, you seem relatives. So, you have a long way together. Be happy!
