What are you guys doing this weekend? Tonight I'm looking forward to staying in and just lying on the sofa, reading magazines, drinking wine and chilling out. Sometimes quiet nights are the best. Hope you have a good weekend, and meanwhile, here are a few great posts from around the web...The magic of summer storms.
Three favorite prints: Lovebird, mushrooms, modern art.
Starry tights!
Crawling knee pads.
Fantastic business card.
Whoa. Check out this shark photo.
Why having a toddler is like being at a frat party.
I'm newly in love with this store. Everything is gorgeous. (Like these elbow patches!)
Have a good one. xo

That shark picture totally gives me the chills!
ReplyDeleteYour plans for the night sound the same as mine! I love the post about summer storms. It reminds me of South Beach Miami. I posted about it here http://bywayofney.blogspot.com/2011/07/south-beach-in-full.html
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Breezy laid back weekends are the best! Sometimes I would happily swap adventure filled weekends for a chance to just lounge around in my pyjamas reading magazines and catching up with friends! Xx
ReplyDeleteohhhmigosh the shark photo. holy heck.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a fun relaxing weekend - I'm kind of jealous :) We're going to a big party tonight benefiting the local NICU where my son spent his first 71 days. It should be fun and it's a great cause.
thanks for introducing me to ASOS- I have a sneaking feeling I'll be spending way to much time browsing their site this weekend :) also, love the toddler/frat party observations- made me laugh out loud!
ReplyDeleteThe toddler/frat party comparison had me lol! That would be pretty funny to frame in the house somewhere. I'm sure guests would get a kick out of it. Hope you have a fab weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good reading suggestions! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteGTBB,

Omg! The shark is solo huge
ReplyDeleteIf this picture is not a fake it is so frightening
I hope i won't have a flash of it next time i dive, it could totally ruin the day
It is a fake shark picture :(. Too bad, bc it was pretty cool (well, I say too bad, but it's nice to know the divers were actually happy). The original is from Facts about Sharks (at least, that's where I found it) - http://www.factsaboutsharks.com/shark-pictures/great-white-shark-picture.jpg
ReplyDeletethat store has cute maternity stuff! thanks!
ReplyDeleteJoanna, you who love wedding photos might like to check these out. A bride on a zipline over a beautiful country pond in her wedding dress. Now THAT'S a picture you have probably not seen before. Just sayin'.

that shark story, my word! i'd have a heart attack. this does NOT make me want to scuba dive, haha. love the unique and lovely posts! xo.
ReplyDeleteNice of the son to supposedly leave his parents down there with a shark! It does look too big to scale, even if great whites get to be pretty big. http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/scubashark.asp
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with ASOS. Also, I'm going to have nightmares about that shark. Eek! I'm showing my husband that. He'll think it's the coolest.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to Tijuana tonight to see a band and then wine tasting on Sunday! I'm glad to have Saturday in between to relax. If anyone from San Diego reads this you should check out my blog post today about TJ. It's an awesome place!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend Joanna!

Crawling kneepads for toddlers are insane, but you know what's not? Kneepads for adults crawling after the toddlers! Mr. Sandwich ruined his knees on a roofing project, and now any time he's going to give Baguette a bath, or even play on the floor with her for more than a couple of minutes, he dons kneepads.
ReplyDeleteI'm moving across the country to Nova Scotia this weekend! Probably one of the more ridiculous weekends I've ever had.
ReplyDeletei recently discovered asos, as well and i agree that their items are quite lovely aesthetically... but be careful! the last item i ordered was poor quality and even damaged a little! :(
ReplyDeleteThe shark photo was really funny. I am relaxing today like you are :) I am looking forward to that.

ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend. I amy go to see "THe Help." Otherwise, I am just relaxing, too.
ReplyDeleteThose crawling knee pads are amazing. We could have used them this weekend on the bridge!
ReplyDeleteThe shark picture is so terrifying. But I love the ASOS link.
ReplyDeleteI love that fake shark photo! It was photo-shopped, but I'm sure you knew that! :) http://www.hoax-slayer.com/shark-behind-divers.shtml
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend :) I keep hoping any night now that my 10 month old will sleep through the night! xx

ReplyDeleteI Can Be Many Things
Ha! That shark picture! I love those star tights! xo
ReplyDeleteI've seen this picture before on snopes, not sure how true that story actually is!! http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/scubashark.asp
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteWe're going to 'virtual' Ghana tonight. :-) But your laying on the sofa and reading sounds almost as good!
ReplyDeleteYou're going to hate this but Asos used to sell babies/kids clothing! I used to buy all of Israel's clothes there until about a year ago when they stopped carrying them!
ReplyDelete:(
sounds like an awesome weekend!
ReplyDeleteHmm a nice glass of wine sounds lovely right now :)
ReplyDeleteI love that top photo and I still can't get over that shark photo, oh my gosh!

I love the star tights and elbow patches. it reminds me of an interview the band Au Revoir Simone did a few years ago where they described their style as playground sheik

ReplyDeleteWonderful! Fascinating!
ReplyDeleteLove the laid back weekends, and the links. My weekend will be filled with traveling.
ReplyDeletethat shark photo is actually terrifying!
ReplyDeleteOh. My. God. Brenna from Suburban Snapshots is a good friend of my sister's since college and a friend of mine too... I'm so psyched to see her Frat Party post mentioned here, and I'm sure she'll be too!
ReplyDeletegreat links as usual! laughing, smiling, dreaming of stars :)... the shark one is too much, i don't know if i'm able to believe that or not!
ReplyDeleteLoved the business card!
ReplyDeleteI'll be lounging at the beach with my best friends!

Funny post...I wish I were laying around. This frat house is closing up until the holidays, when my son and his rowdy bunch come home from college. Enjoy the early years, they go by way too fast!
ReplyDeleteThe shark pic is a nightmare come true...squeeeel!
died laughing at the toddler = frat party post. so brilliant. :)
ReplyDeleteThe second set of links aren't showing up...
ReplyDeleteCan't believe that shark pic! Kinda bummed it's a fake.
ReplyDeleteunfortunately (major bummer!) that shark photo is a hoax. I posted it on my facebook, then someone sent me the link debunking it:

Super creepy shark pic!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you've discovered asos- I've been using it for about 6 or 7 years and it's always been great. I still check every day to see what's new!
Oh and the NYT has a super cute proposal video up today - 2 ballet dancers. You should check it out!
Hi Joanna,
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your blog for a while and am just now trying to cross into the land of non-creepers. Your tone is so bright, and I love seeing what you've discovered.
all best,
Claire
Lovely photo :)
ReplyDeleteI <3 ASOS!! It's brilliant :D and I especially love the starry tights.

Jo, I went to Bath Spa on Friday (I'm cozmikfaerie over on twitter) it was amazing!! The rooftop pool was awesome, even tho' it rained. Everyone in the pool just all looked up at the sky and didn't really mind because the water was about 35C
That shark photo is crazy! Gave me the heebie jeebies.
ReplyDeletewent to Oakland for my son's wedding!!! that makes all four for me....so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI have my first ASOS order coming in the mail next week hopefully! I'm soo excited. LOVE their items.

Shark photo was the winner of a Photoshop competition title 'Vacation Bloopers 6' over at www.worth1000.com. Here's the link if you want to check it out (and see some of the other entries) http://www.worth1000.com/entries/295830/
ReplyDeleteWish those starry tights shipped to the US!
ReplyDeletethe photo of the shark is a fake. it was part of a photoshop contest on worth1000.com. well done! http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_sneaky_shark.htm
ReplyDeleteBeware of Asos as a brand. Most of their clothing is insanely bad quality but looks amazing in the photos!
ReplyDeletelove this post! ☮ love your blog and would die of happiness if you visited my blog and maybe followed? xx :D

Yeah, I know asos.com a wile, i agree with what someone said about poor quality, it's true, you have to be careful. Although the cloths are lovely, so is a choice. They sell other brands too, normally i read labels carefully. But i do have a bunch of stretched out., & washed out t-shirts, & jumpers by asos. :/
ReplyDeleteI still shop there! U know.. nothing lasts for ever! :)
A gorgeous photo!
ReplyDeleteI am always glad to bring a laugh. Thanks a million for the link back to Suburban Snapshots, and for helping me discover your blog. - Brenna
ReplyDeleteooo, good to know about the quality at asos. had no idea.
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew what a summer storm looked like....
ReplyDeleteI LIVE IN A TEXAS.

Thanks so much for the asos tip - they ship, for free, worldwide! Even to South Africa. Snared two dresses on a crazy sale, now I can't wait to meet them :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
You hit the name on the head!
ReplyDeleteA relaxing weekend is my cup of tea!!!
