What kind of shoes do you wear in the fall? I usually wear flats, but I'm hoping for a new look. So I was psyched to see these boat shoes on Tomboy Style. They're cool and tomboy-ish, and I've spotted super chic women wearing them around New York. Thoughts? Would you wear them? From top: Bass, $119; L.L. Bean Signature, $69; L.L. Bean, $49; Bass, $119.
(By the fantastic Tomboy Style)

Do! Do! Such a do! I've lived in boat shoes this summer as they're an easy work alternative for my usual flip flops (I also want to dabble in trying out penny loafers this fall - I remember I ROCKED those as a kid!).
ReplyDeleteBecca
these remind me so much of my dad, in a good way :) they look like they'd get better as they are worn and aged.. definetly a do!
ReplyDeleteYES! I absolutely love boat shoes... sooooo cute
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I might have to try as well!
ReplyDeleteim a super fan of Sperry topsiders and pretty much wear a pair to the ground each year ;) but then again i'm such a sucker for anything remotely nautical...
ReplyDeleteohjustjess.blogspot.com
I love wearing ballerina flats during fall but those boat shoes look great. I love the last pair. Such a lovely light colour:) Btw: that girl looks super cute in her stripes and white shorts:) xo
ReplyDeleteLove boat shoes! I've worn my current pair of Sperry's for three years and it's about time for a replacement. Word of warning, though, since you are in NY--they are not warm! They're great for mild falls and winters, but keep no warmth in or cold out and are especially treacherous in the rain in the winter (great for rain on warm/warm-ish days, not great for cold days). Love them with a rain or trench coat.
ReplyDeleteThey look comfy.
ReplyDeleteBecca is so much like me she could be me! I too love boat shoes - as a avid sailor I wore them all thru high school & college (in the 80's!) and I have been eyeing them for this fall too. But I did just recently splurge on some Frye James wingtip oxfords & ought to hold off. I love, love, love Tomboy Style - thank you so much for turning me onto that site Joanna!
ReplyDeleteyes! they are so cute -- do you guys wear them with shorts, too?
ReplyDeletelove them! sperrys have a lot of cute styles too :)
ReplyDeleteLove these! They look super comfy too! xo (added bonus!)
ReplyDeleteYes! I have been wearing them all summer. I got a pair at Old Navy for $11 which makes them even better.
ReplyDeleteI wear boat shoes year round! They're the most comfortable shoes I own and they look good with close to everything. Definitely a DO!
ReplyDelete*kate
I also have a pair of Sperry's. I love them. Wear them with shorts, and some skirts and dresses depending on the look I'm going for.
ReplyDeletethey are really cute, but not really my style.. I'm planning on walking around in either black (or some fun pattern) flats, white low slim converse and as it gets chillier, black or brown boots. I'd like to have both :)
ReplyDeleteDO DO DO! I have the Sperry TopSider Angelfish, and they are "dainty" enough to wear with anything, even cute shorts. I highly recommend.
ReplyDeleteHow could you miss Sperry's?
ReplyDeleteha, i guess i am the odd one. i do NOT like these. maybe cool for a grandpa?
ReplyDelete"DO"! I have a pair of sperry's that I love!
ReplyDeletehttp://hipposandhearts.com
Ah, I stumbled into these stores while at an outlet in Virginia. These are really stylish, cute -sailor chic!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
PS - This is the pair I have (in linen/oat): http://goo.gl/eTUKv
ReplyDeleteDefinite DO! But they have to be Sperrys!
ReplyDeletedeannacaggiano.blogspot.com
I LOVE my boat shoes for the fall. They're much more practical for my 1/2 hour walk to classes and back in manhattan ... while flats always end up giving me blisters and making my arches ache. Plus, there's the added bonus of the brown/green/yellow color pallet fitting so well with my favorite fall sweaters and such.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely do! I can't wait to see photos of you rockin' them!
ReplyDeleteYes! I love boat shoes. They are comfortable, but have a little style and more support that typical flats (at least in my experience.) Plus, They can go with lots of different fabrics and colors. I vote "Do".
ReplyDeleteOnce i find the right shoes for the right price, i will definitely be wearing boat shoes regularly.
ReplyDeleteLove those things.
Do. I've been wearing some Sperry's and I love them.
ReplyDeleteJoanna - You have the look to pull it off, I don't!
ReplyDeletemy hubby wore these when i first met him~ they're a do, but i'm leaning towards mocs for my comfy shoes this fall/winter. it's almost like going barefoot!
ReplyDeletemy hubby loves boat shoes. I think with the right look us girls could totally pull these off. loving so many alternatives to wedges & heels as of late. hooray for flats, sandals & adorable sneakers!
ReplyDeleteteri

mhm, no! at least here in France its only really boring law students who wear them.. you cannot even wear them as a joke, they're just too deeply rooted in well-off-but-boring culture.
ReplyDeleteI have spotted boat shoes a lot lately {probably because I was just on the east coast? I feel like they are more east coast than west coast :)} and I love them.
ReplyDeleteGo for it - perfect for a warm-ish fall day!
Do! They are very classic and attractive. Both my mom and my husband have a pair of Sperry's, now I need to get a pair!
ReplyDeleteDo! These are so cute and would be perfect for fall!
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
B
Go for it! I've got a great pair that I found at the thrift store- in the men's section of all places! They're a really pretty brown leather and I've worn them all summer. I mostly wear them with a pair of high-waisted jean shorts I've got.
ReplyDeleteThey'll look great! :)
i am definitely into the style, but my husband wears them and I can't handle us matching like that in public!
ReplyDeleteI bought a pair of Sperrys for my England trip and I wore them everywhere with dresses and jeans and skirts. They were incredibly comfortable (I easily walked 6 miles a day in them.)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely DO! I wear my Sperrys year round with jeans, shorts, skirts, shirt dresses... you get the idea. I love them and think they make a great tomboy classic look.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid I wanted Bass leather boat shoes so bad I could have died. My preppy best friend who had just moved down from Maine wore them constantly and I was sooooo jealous. The only problem is that thy aren't terribly flattering on size-10 feet. :(
ReplyDeletethey are a so-so for me.
ReplyDeletei'm not really into boat shoes, but i'm totally in love with wingtip oxford shoes right now! i'd don't know if they are 'in' or not though, haha
ReplyDeleteDo! I just bought two pairs of Sperry boat shoes...comfortable and versatile and perfect for a girl who doesn't really care to own a lot of shoes.
ReplyDeleteHECK YEAH! My inner prepster just became very happy! Love that sweater as well :)
ReplyDeletei've always loved boat shoes... my dad would wear them all the time when i was younger, and now i've appropriated them into my own wardrobe, they are stylish, versatile, flattering, comfy, and so cute! go for it :)
ReplyDeleteI have to say I agree with Nina, I'm English so perhaps its a European thing.. Brogues on the other hand I love just bought my self a pair of Clarks(UK company but would prob deliver internationaly) black and white ones(Hamble Oak Black Combi leather) which I've been dancing around the house in since they arrived, absolutely love 'em!
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes from Nicola in Devon UK
I love boat shoes but it seems so summer... Then again, they would look real nice with some jeans and a chunky knit sweater. I'm in.
ReplyDeleteOh, of course I would wear them! Boat shoes have been around since the beginning of time... a totally classic look!
ReplyDeleteYes I would wear them though I'm an oxford Junkie - and I also think they're the perfect shoes for fall.
ReplyDeleteLove my Sperry's! They're super comfy and can be cute when wore correctly. :)
ReplyDeleteTotally, they're the one good thing I remember about middle school!
ReplyDeleteI also just ordered these cute ankle boots that look super comfy (they're like the Isabel Marant Dicker boots that Kate Bosworth wears!):
http://bussbuss.com/wp/2011/08/17/look-for-less-isabel-marant-dicker-boots/
I just bought this pair http://www.bedstu.com/womens-bedstu/bed-stu-cobbler-aunt-bettie-tan-greenland-shoes.html in the spring and I can't wait to wear this fall. Def a do when you give your boots a rest ;)
ReplyDeleteDO! i've been searching for a pair of boat shoes for a while now!! love love!
ReplyDeleteFair warning, Joanna- I worked as a street canvasser in NYC this summer, and my boss (a true boat shoe aficionado) would stop a lot of women by calling out "Hey, we're wearing the same boat shoes, come talk to me." Incredible as it sounds, based initially on that boat-shoe similarity, he signed up TONS of ladies for monthly donations to the cause. Just thought you should know that your boat shoes might come with a side of getting roped into donating to charity! :)
ReplyDeleteBTW I'm in LA and haven't seen any girls wearing them here yet...maybe I can be the first. ;)
ReplyDeletei have a pair of sperrys that i use for rainy days that have the potential to flood my flats.
ReplyDeletehttp://lachapstickfanatique.blogspot.com
Yes! I've got them already but mine are from Timberland, great quality! X Astrud
ReplyDeletemy dad wore them all the time when i was a kid - he actually had a boat. they're totally nostalgic to me.
ReplyDeletewill you post some photos of the fabulous fashions you are observing in NY for this little midwestern gal who gets bored of the same-ol practical boring styles I see on my streets!
ReplyDeleteboat shoes are a good item for the fall. as well as oxfords.
ReplyDeleteThose llbean signature camp moc's were THE casual shoe to own when I was at Vanderbilt in the late 70's. All the cool kids wore them and they were especially awesome with straight legged levi's. And madras shorts. And denim skirts. And absolutely without socks.
ReplyDeleteSperry Topsiders are my go-to boat shoe. They are the most comfortable and fit the best. Love love LOVE them.
ReplyDeleteThese are minging! Please resist!
ReplyDeleteTotally! This summer I've been sporting a pair of metallic Sperry's I bought at J.Crew. xo Lola
ReplyDeleteSperrys have been the must-have for college girls in KS for a few years now - sailor prep without the sailing part. (I think the trend migrated from the South, e.g. Chapel Hill, NC) A few years ago I had a friend who worked for Payless (who owns Sperry) and she hooked me up with some sweet deals. I even found a pair of sherling lined boat shoes! Those babies are warm. I wear size 11 though, so they are a no-go for me when it comes to shorts and skirts. Boat shoe takes on a whole new meaning.
ReplyDelete-Kate
While Sperry's Topsiders are probably the most mainstream brand, they're right up there with Sebago Docksides. I have a pair of ladies Docksides and they are sooo comfy. I love how they conform to the shape of your foot after being broken in.
ReplyDeletethey look so beautiful but i feel more comfortable in ballerina flats
ReplyDeletehttp://girlynote.blogspot.com/
Love them!
ReplyDeletehttp://sweetharvestmoon.blogspot.com
I was so happy when these went OUT of style when I was in school. Now my kids are asking for them. I much prefer the saddle shoe. Those are coming back, too, right?
ReplyDeleteSaw this and thought instantly of you..
ReplyDeletehttp://www.torontostandard.com/daily-cable/bicycle-chalk-trails
your blog rocks btw.
Maz xx
yes! i actually bought a pair from nike (seriously) that is more comfy + funkier colors.
ReplyDelete~p
I'm wearing boat shoes right now. Great minds!
ReplyDeleteI loooooooooove LOOOOOVE my sperry boat shoes. I have gone through 3 pairs in the last 4 years because I run them to the ground! So comfortable. No need for socks. And they are just so stinking cute!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderfully adorable, and so easy to wear. For fall though, I've always been a boots girl..it's kinda necessary in Montreal
ReplyDeleteI've been wearing them all summer with shorts. Madewell sells super cute ones handmade by a company in Brooklyn that have a bit of a worn look to them and are very comfy.
ReplyDeleteIt's an absolute DO! I wear my boat shoes year round and go through a pair a year. They are extremely comfortable and can give an outfit a nautical look.
ReplyDeleteTake a look at Sperry boat shoes!! I have a cute pair of Sperry rain boots that have a wedge heel and a felt cuff at the top so they look more like riding boots than clumsy rainboots.
I'd totally wear them! Cutest things everrrr!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I've been waiting for this day for 15 years. Yes yes yes yes. I loved them last time around and I can't wait to wear them this time around. As a matter of fact I may go grab a pair this afternoon!
ReplyDeleteI do like them but last year I made a commitment to buy girlier items! I wore boat shoes for ages and when they wore out I decided not to buy shoes that look like they could be my boyfriend's.
ReplyDeleteI love wearing boat shoes in the fall! Those and flats are usually what I switch back and forth between :)
ReplyDeleteDOOOO!!!! Just bought myself a pair of Sperry's during Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale a couple weeks ago. So comfy! So cute! So effortless! I wear mine with shorts, jeans, skirts, anything preppy and casual.
ReplyDeleteABSOLUTELY! I don't get a lot of support from flats, so I usually opt for oxfords, but I love these boat shoes as well!
ReplyDeleteI wore these shoes in the mid 80's and loved them! I love them now and will probably get myself a new pair this year!!
ReplyDeleteDO! DO! DO! I've had a pair of sperry's sitting in a shopping cart for days...
ReplyDeleteLove them... Sperry makes great looking ones
ReplyDeleteThese were wildly popular where I was in collge, specifically the Sperry brand. In Texas they are certainly not used for sailing, but everyone seems to like the look!
ReplyDeleteDo! Do! Do! I love them!
ReplyDeleteDO!
ReplyDeleteI recently scored a pair of vintage turquoise sebago boat shoes from DearGoldenVintage on etsy and am smitten! they look great with my long bremuda shorts, and knee length skirts and I can't wait to wear them this fall!
~abigail tiptoethrough.blogspot.com
absolutely do! I love boat shoes! Bust they must fit and look proportional to one's body.

Look who's Wearing (LwW)
DO! They remind me of my dad:) I find them adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteThey've been huge here in London all summer! I got a pair in the spring and love them. They aren't always 'feminine', though....so if i want to look pretty, i usually go for something else. Cute is definitely attainable though!
ReplyDeletenot for me... no no no
ReplyDeleteI don't love a boat shoe. What's wrong with me? Is it an East Coast thing? My in-laws, who are from CT, buy Sperry here in L.A. in bulk...they are always on sale because I don't think they're all that well-shopped here in southern CA.
ReplyDeleteAh you forgot Sperrys! I love mine. A definite do- girls in the South have been wearing them forever. Jeans, shorts, skirts, they go with everything!
ReplyDeletelooove boat shoes! ever since i was really little i wanted shoes just like my grandpa's and then years ago when i could buy them myself i got a pair of Sperry's and have worn them to death. they start out tough leather and then are the most comfortable shoes ever. i wore them yesterday!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, for sure! Love boat shoes. I want an update pair as I have those old Sperrys. I love that last Bass pair you posted. Those are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI put a pair on this morning and asked the same thing!!! Its a do!
ReplyDeleteYes!
ReplyDeleteThey remind me of a New England summer, so by the time fall rolls around, I'm ready for a change.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll stick with the converse, flats, or espadrilles
ReplyDeletehttp://gayleswishlist.blogspot.com
cute! but i prefer granny-loafers :D
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one thinking NO NO NO??? Flats=adorable...boat shoes=wrong
ReplyDeleteI love boat shoes. Just depends what you wear them with!
ReplyDeleteKacie
http://acollectionofpassions.com/
oh!
ReplyDeleteI may be the only negative voice...beautiful, yes, but town shoes not city shoes.
(And not after the boat comes out of the water - October, say.)
Definitely a do!!! they are cool without trying to hard! love them on girls especially!
ReplyDeleteMINDOFMR.BLOGSPOT.COM
As a North Carolinian, boat shoes are a year round staple! Rolled up jeans, sundresses, shorts- works with everything!
ReplyDeletepersonally, I don't care for them... but, undoubtedly, there will be many out there who can pull off the look with little effort :)
ReplyDeleteThey aren't for me personally, but I've seen some really cute ones this summer (Sperry's)styled with bermuda shorts and even casual dresses. If anyone can rock em, you can!
ReplyDeleteI love the ones in the pic... so me!! ;) Nikki
ReplyDeletealready have 2 pairs :)
ReplyDeleteI'd go for a moccassin instead
ReplyDeletedefinitely a DO! love them and need them
ReplyDeletehttp://mstwirlyskirts.com
My husband introduced me to Sperry Topsiders five years ago, and I've never looked back. Not only are they beautiful and classic, they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I wear them daily to my nanny job, especially in the fall. They're great with shorts, too, or even a corduroy skirt and cardigan. In college, I even wore them in the winter in Michigan with chunky wool socks.

ReplyDeleteMy friend just sent me this because I just did a little photoshoot of all our boat shoes. So yes, definitely a DO!
ReplyDeleteHere is my frame:
http://esthermathieu.wordpress.com/2011/08/17/a-little-something-for-us-cape-ann-ma-photographer/
these boat shoes would be such a fresh spin on the normal ballerina flats. do do do!
ReplyDeleteI've been wearing my Sperrys all summer with cuffed boyfriend shorts and jean cutoffs. They're definitely a cute tomboy look! For early fall (before it's too cold for them) I think I'll wear them with rolled up jeans or skinny cropped cords. Let us know if you get a pair!
ReplyDeletei wear boat shoes in nyc! i've had mine for about 6 years! i love that green pair in the photo. You could totally pull it off
ReplyDeleteI like my girly shoes so; no from me :)
ReplyDeleteacupofsparkle.blogspot.com
Hmmm... I think that this look only works on slim women. In which case, Joanna, you're good to go. If anybody has any photographic proof of this looking remotely attractive on curvy girls, please post it!
ReplyDeleteI would most definitely wear these shoes, but I will also be rockin the oxford shoes, too.
ReplyDeleteLOVE boat shoes SO much. It's always a DO. They're just perfect for autumn.
ReplyDeleteAn absolute do! I'm saving my pennies to get my very own Sperry's to break in all by myself. Nothing more satisfying then a perfectly worn in pair of kicks.
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing my boat shoes right now...at work (ultra hip brooklyn design firm)...with a dress. I've gotten many compliments on how cute and styish they are.
ReplyDeleteDisclaimer - I have tiny feet, size 5.5.
Just bought a pair of Sidewalk Surfers by Sanuk. Love them! Easy to slip on and off.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought of them as summer shoes more than fall shoes. I definitely think you can pull them off and make them cute and stylish...but both my parents wear them all summer so I've stayed away from them in the past. I thinking of getting a pair of oxfords for this fall.
ReplyDeleteI love the second pair, I would so wear these! They are very cute.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, I just bought a pair of boat shoes yesterday! (I also secretly love that my husband has a similar pair that he bought last year...now we can match!) :)
ReplyDeleteDo! I'm a heels girl, myself, but when it comes to weekend comfort boat shoes are a great option!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely do!!! I adore boat shoes and get jealous everytime I see someone who pulls them off!
ReplyDeleteDo Do Do! So cute! Such a feminine feel to a normally manly shoe.. at least that's how I feel!
ReplyDeleteThey're just so darn cute!
would be so much nicer if they weren't leather. My look for fall involves not wearing cow skin.
ReplyDeleteHow about http://www.mooshoes.com/products2.cfm/ID/102/name/Mariner-Shoe-from-Vegetarian-Shoes/a/4
?
(I'm not associated with Mooshoes...)
My first thought was "Oh, NO!" I'm sort of with Nina from France, and they made me think of those nasty (un)cool kids in Jr. High who aspired to "well-off-but-boring!"
ReplyDeleteBut, when I let that go... I kind of have a crush on those old men who wear them on their boats, and think they'll look super-cute on YOU this fall!
I bought the bedstü loafer in English saddle at Madewell last fall and love love them! They look broken in and are so comfy with a big wooly sock. Luckily they still have the same ones this fall: http://www.madewell.com/madewell_category/SHOESBOOTS/shoes/PRDOVR~36610/36610.jsp
ReplyDeleteAh! I was going to buy some a couple weeks ago and my friend said they were completely ugly... I really liked them. Well, in my opinion this trend is a DO!
ReplyDeleteI own a pair of Sperry's and I LOVE them. Had them for 4 years and they're still in great shape.
ReplyDeleteI actually just purchased a pair of shiny gold Sperry's YESTERDAY!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to wear them with crisp white jeans and sweater, crazy colored shorts and tees, jeans and french striped shirts...oh the options are endless.
Hilary
Personally I don't really like those kind of shoes and would not wear them, but with the right outfit and if they were plain and not too extravagant it could be a great combination.
ReplyDeletehttp://spaceistheonlynoise.blogspot.com/
I have oxford-y color ones that I bought online from sperry topsider (: theyre super comfy but I'm still looking for another fall shoe option
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! I love Sperry topsiders.
ReplyDeleteBoat shoes are the best! I've been wearing them for years.
ReplyDeletei love sperrys! i actually just bought a pair of boat shoes tonight at tjmaxx :) theyre a must for my fall wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteAmazing!!!Do!!!
ReplyDeleteminnja.blogspot.com
LOVE

FYI these are actually blucher mocs not boat shoes... while they are similar, they serve different purposes and blucher mocs are much more appropriate for Fall and Winter than boat shoes, which are traditionally worn without socks.
ReplyDeleteI'm slightly obsessed with boat shoes- I say, if the shoe fits, wear them. Rock them. :)
ReplyDeleteH.
I've been rockin' a red pair of boat shoes since midsummer. They are so comfortable and go with everything! Skirts, shorts, crops, and pants!
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY! just got some awesome FRYE ones for $60!!! all leather and made to last! love 'em!
ReplyDeletewww.urbanoutfitters.com
These are beautiful! You should totally get these!
ReplyDeletePlease for Christ sake help this poor boy from Haiti
ReplyDeletePlease for Christ sake help this poor boy from Haiti
ReplyDeletePersonally I wouldn't wear them, however here in Melbourne they leave the impression you live in a certain suburb and promote the fact you own a boat! So that said I'm sure they would look very 'tres chic' in NY and of what I know of your style though your blog, you'll pull this look off with aplomb!
ReplyDeleteDon't! Not for me, but I bet there are many women that cal pull it off.
ReplyDelete"Yes" if I am going on a boat! "No" if I am staying in the city!
ReplyDeleteDo! I just bought my first pair (Sperrys) & I love them! German women where we live always wear them, so it's nice to start fitting in with the locals. They're also incredibly comfortable and double as rain shoes for all the summer storms we get. May have to get those L.L.Bean Signature ones for fall though...
ReplyDeleteI love wearing my Sperry's in the rainy Holland weather. The LLBeans on the top of your graphic are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely jumping on this bandwagon!!! I love them.
ReplyDeletea BIG yes from me. I love how they look on guys (swoon) and on girls as well. I bought myself sperrys in dark brown but had to return it bc I bought a size too small. but when I find my size, definitely getting again.
ReplyDeletethey are a great go-to summer shoe. and fall too! mostly i like that they look good with everything, even dresses, and are more comfy than heels!!
ReplyDeleteLove them!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love these shoes
ReplyDeleteYes, I love boat shoes. I have a hot pink pair from a few years ago I absolutely love and will continue to wear until they fall apart!
ReplyDeleteGosh that's a hard one, they remind me of summers gone by when Dockers boat shoes were all the rage! I had a few pairs, don't think I could wear them again thought!
ReplyDeletewww.redpoppyfashion.blogspot.com
Ever since attending an ultra preppy college where boat shoes were THE thing, i just can't bring myself to wear them! I go for boots most of fall
ReplyDeletewww.indramaticfashion.com
I've worn the same Sperry Topsiders for 5 years now, and they're STILL holding up. They're super comfortable and match everything. I love them. DO! DO! DO!
ReplyDeleteIm excited for the heeled loafers...like THESE from Anthropologie!!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?navAction=jump&id=20534475
I love Topsiders, though I am somewhat dismayed at how pervasively trendy they have become lately, and I would definitely consider bluchers like you show, but I am pretty sure I only like them with shorts or cropped pants, so they are really a summer staple for me, and not something I'd wear once the weather started requiring socks...
ReplyDeleteOh, also -- I am pretty strict about this -- only Sperry Topsiders, and only LL Bean bluchers. Original, classic, no substitutions.
ReplyDeleteYES definitely! I love the tan pair.
ReplyDeleteAn absolute DO. But only if you go with Sperry Top-siders. Any other brand/pair/attempt is a falsehood! I've worn mine every summer for 8 years. They're incredibly comfortable and perfectly worn in.
ReplyDeleteI have a pair of sperry shoes and i love them till no end, so cute & so comfy!
ReplyDeleteI wore Sperry at University in the (80s!!) yikes! So I'm going to pass on this retrend and stick with my ballet flats
ReplyDeletedo do do!! so adorable! all of the bridesmaids (including me) for my friends wedding are getting similar shoes. so excited!
ReplyDeletedo do do ! I love them all!
ReplyDeletethere are some really good vintage boat shoe options on etsy, too! :)
ReplyDeleteDo! With slouchy trousers or skinny jeans. Simple and classic.
ReplyDeletei can definitely see you rockin those shoes but for me, no way...
ReplyDeleteLove them!!! I need to get myself a pair!
ReplyDeleteBoat shoes are the best! If my boyfriend wore them (and we had the same size feet), I would totally steal them! :)
ReplyDelete-Elle
www.ellebeautiful.wordpress.com
They'll surely look great on you--do it!
ReplyDeletenope, not for me. I'm not a fan of manly shoes on women. I had a pair similar to those when I was in middle school (or maybe high school?), but I wouldn't wear them now.
ReplyDeleteyes a total, weekend do! adorable with a pair of short or leggings.
ReplyDeletehttp://threadtheneedleblog.blogspot.com/
Definitely a do. I have some Sperrys (I know, I know, I am such a follower) and they are awesome.
ReplyDeletei used to wear these as a pup with curlicue laces, remember them?
ReplyDeleteI love my Sperry's! Definitely get a pair! They're good for rainy days when you don't want to wear flip flops or wellies too.
ReplyDeleteSperry's are cute but a bit chunky and preppy. I suggest brogues. They've got that manly edge so they're kind of tomboyish but are comfy and flat. I just bought these:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.glamyou.com/romolo_blue__leather_jazz_shoe__30_-p-243.html?manufacturers_id=26
Do, great brand called Dubarry from Ireland, handmade and absolute musts for the a/w ahead!
ReplyDeleteI bought a pair of gold boat shoes from LeSport Sac this summer and have got so many compliments! They are comfy and stylish!
ReplyDeletehttp://sarahmarielmacom.blogspot.com
I bought the cutest pair of blue plaid boat shoes from Payless and I have been rocking them all summer at work with pencil skirts and such. I love boat shoes!
ReplyDeleteworldaccordingtoshia.blogspot.com
Personally, I'm dying to get my hands on a pair of oxfords, but I like these boat shoes as well!
ReplyDeleteDo, do do!
ReplyDeleteDo! At the beginning of summer, I got a pair of Sperry Topsiders in the most perfect shade of gray from J.Crew. I love them! I live in SF, so I needed shoes that were comfortable to walk everywhere in yet more stylish than tennis. They were the perfect solution.
ReplyDeleteI've also gotten a couple of pairs of the colored loafers from Bed Stu that Anthro is selling. I've been wearing those all the time too.
They're not for me. I am into shoe boots this season. In fact I already have two pairs from last season and new pair I picked up already for the coming season.
ReplyDeleteI wore shoes like this growing up with my school uniform. Adorable! Ive been thinking penny loafers too!
ReplyDeleteI would, IF I was living somewhere cooler...
ReplyDeleteHere, in Cyprus, it's sooo hot no one is able to tolerate shoes over sandals, long trousers away from an air-conditioned area etc...
So, not much of a choice.... :p
I bought a pair of Sperry topsiders this summer, and I don't even care if they're cute. They are. So. Comfortable. I live in them now!
ReplyDeleteYes to boat shoes! But, NO way in the fall (past September)! These are summer only shoes!!!
ReplyDeleteI bought my husband some of the Timberland boat shoes for his bday so he'd have something to wear to work with long shorts.
ReplyDeletesuper cute! I also want to get some moccasins. Unfortunately, it rains a lot in the PNW so cute shoes are rarely worn. :(
ReplyDeletewww.myqueenbquilts.com
I love boat shoes. They are so comfortable! However I find it quite difficult to match them with my outfit sometimes. Too boyish to go well with skirts/dresses and they are getting quite common these days.
ReplyDelete
