When Alex accidentally grew a beard three years ago (he had the flu), I told him he looked rugged and handsome. Surprised, he said I was the only women he'd ever known who actually liked beards. But doesn't everyone love a good scruff? I'm curious: Do you prefer guys with beards or definitely not?Today Alex wrote an article about what it feels like for a guy to have a beard. It was funny to hear a man's perspective! Read it here, if you'd like.
P.S. Before and after.

yes, beard. yes yes yes!!
ReplyDeleteYes yes yes: I love it when my hubby has a 5'oclock shadow/scruff. He shaves on Monday and by the time Friday rolls around, I'm allll about it.
ReplyDeleteI do think some guys look better with beards/scruff than others....
It totally depends on the beard and the guy wearing it. A patchy, thin beard rarely looks that good, but a nice thick scruff is always great! Different types look good on different guys.
ReplyDeleteOf course, it depends on the guy and the beard, but I love my husband with a beard!
ReplyDeleteMy friend says "there comes a time in every woman's life where she realises that gold jewelery is ok and beards are sexy."
1. Beards are hot
ReplyDelete2. Alex's article is great! Funny guy you got there Joanna!
Totally depends on the guy. Unfortunately, my husband looks like a child molester with a beard. It's all scraggly and comes in thin and gross. Sad times.
ReplyDeletehere in Brazil, almost all girls love guys with beard. My boyfriend has one and i just love it ! I think it´s very charming and Sexy ;]
ReplyDeleteI used to swear up and down that I was all for clean-shaven men... then I met my boyfriend and it was all shot to hell...
ReplyDeletei dig me some good beard, I even like a good lambchop every once in a while, but only from a strictly style-y standpoint ... because ... once you get to nuzzlin' and a-kissin' ... well, the scruff factor can start to really rub the wrong way ;)
ReplyDeletebut, come to think of it, for a single gal like me ... is pretty much perfection for all my many man-gazing(s)! ha!
i love the rough and rugged look and feel of facial hair! my husband was very happy he'd found someone who didn't mind if he shaved once a week :-)

i heart beards and staches. my boyfriend grew one last year around the same time brian wilson (sf giants) started growing his. this year his doin the stache thing. the initial growing part can be hard to kiss, but once thats over.. love it! haha. happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love when my husband grows a beard, but everyone in his family as well as mine give him crap about it so he shaves it off often.
ReplyDeletethere's going to be a beard and mustache competition in LA in august!

(btw, love a good beard:)
My husband in scruff and beard is so hot, be it 5 oclock shadow or 6 months growth. I think I prefer it at all times. so very sexy.
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend grows out a beard regularly whenever he feels lazy! I love the variety. I think he looks great with a beard, but then again, he could pass for Jake gyllenhal's twin!
ReplyDeleteLoved the beard article. It made me laugh out loud. Alex definitely looks hip and fashionable with the beard. My husband I prefer clean shaven, but he went through a beard phase :P. I think it depends on the face shape.
ReplyDeleteI am totally pro-beard. I encouraged my husband to go from goatee to full beard about 3 years ago. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love a gruffly manicured man. My husband indulges me with his unshaven 3 day shadow. It gives me the giddy girl sparkle.
ReplyDeleteI like beards of either the outdoorsy or the classically well groomed type. I am repulsed in an almost visceral way by goaties and the like.
ReplyDeletebeards are sexy! my man rocks one :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE beards!
ReplyDeleteHis article on beards is hilarious, but I have never liked how they look.
ReplyDeleteI love clean shaven men! Beards gross me out, kind of.
ReplyDeleteLove me some beards! But only if it's kept trimmed. Also goatees are dreamy ;) Although some guys just can't pull off any facial hair so i suppose it depends on the guy.
ReplyDeleteUgh, I love them. I love them Sam Beam and William Fitzsimmons style!
ReplyDeleteI am comment #426:) all the way at the end, but I want to thank you for posting on this very discussed topic of the bearded man trend which i've seen the last several months all over Fashion Week and beyond! Beards=hit or miss and after a while it's bound to be shaven off :)

I love me a sexy beard.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm number 427 but I couldn't help but add one more vote for beards!! I love my husband in a beard. It's like my annual anniversary and Christmas present.. he stops shaving for a week or 2 and I get the joy of his sexy, scruffy, facial hair. I'm so easy to please ;-) Glad to hear I'm not the only wife out there who can't get enough of her man in a beard.
ReplyDeleteMy husband grows a beard every winter, and I love how he looks with it (adds a layer of sexy gruff that just gets me). He starts in mid-October, and he ceremoniously shaves it off right around the time the snow finally decides to melt in our part of the country (usually by late April, ugh). I LOVE his beard, and I have to admit that I'm always a little confused and sad that first week in the spring that the beard is gone, though, of course, I also love his clean-shaven face. Only 2.5 months until beard season!
ReplyDeletei read somewhere (and i cant find it now of course) that jon hamm (mad men) shaves his face 5 times a day!
ReplyDeleteI love a beard I have finally convinced my man to grow one out.
ReplyDeleteI think it just depends on the person, their face, and the consistency of their beard. (I hate scraggly beards.) Just read Alex's article, too, and it was fun to hear his perspective. Also -- funny fact -- I had no idea he was 45! When I saw photos of him on your blog before, I always assumed he was around 30. Is it the beard? I don't know. Maybe he just has a younger-looking face?
ReplyDeletescruff is sexy for sure!
ReplyDeleteI love beards. I always wine when my boyfriend decides to shave his off again.
ReplyDeleteI think he looks like a little kid without one.

Here, I do not actually think this is likely to have success.
ReplyDeleteFor me, beardage is entirely dependent on the facial structure. Some guys look GREAT with beards. Some look... really... really terrible. D: Overall I tend to prefer clean-shaven, but there are a few really good exceptions.
ReplyDeleteMy fiance Alex looks great with a full beard--short and groomed, though. Without facial hair he looks like a 16 year old and he hates that. :)
ReplyDeletePart of me wants him to keep all his hair for our wedding--part of me thinks it's "wrong." Any advice?
I talk about this topic way too much! 2 of my coworkers and I started talking about how I definitely have a type. I'd categorize it as either an urban lumberjack or modern voyageur. I don't know if I like a full on beard, but I love a good scruffy face. It seems so rugged and masculine. Alex seems like a perfect, adorable, rugged man. Keep the scruff!
ReplyDeleteI really love this particular web site a lot. As you say, this advice is hugely relevant for all.I would like to thank you for sharing your thoughts and time into the stuff you post!!
