Salt-Water sandals

My darlings, another Motherhood Monday post is coming up (about husbands!), but in the meantime, I wanted to share these sandals for little dudes. Every child in our neighborhood wears Salt-Water sandals, which are adorable, comfy and tough enough for city streets, grass parks, sandy beaches, and, of course, salty water. Toby just got his first little pair, and we're loving them already.

Mamas, have you ever tried them? What other children's shoes do you swear by? xo

P.S. Funnily enough, the sandals are also becoming cool for grown-ups. We spotted some chicer-than-chic women wearing them in the Hamptons!

We are crazy about Saltwater's. So classic! I've started a tradition for my daughter with Salt waters! She gets a new pair every summer in a different color - When she is grown up, she'll have a whole collection to pass down to her own children!

Lindsey said...

Childhood just wouldn't be complete without Salt Waters! When I sold children's shoes at Nordstrom in high school and college, I loved selling them to the same families summer after summer. A total classic!! And maybe this summer I'll get a pair for my swollen pregnant feet. They're looking super comfy right now... ;)

Izabella said...

Have to put these on the shoe shopping list! I love it when childhood trends come back. So fun!

We live in our saltwaters through the summer months. This year... navy for me - and glossy pink and silver for my 2 girls. xo

My son had a pair of red sandals by See Kai Run a few years that were the cutest ever. I really wanted a pair for myself! I look for sandals that are more covered at the toe, because I think that kids don't trip as much when they're wearing them, and I like a very flexible sole, too. See Kai Run makes really good shoes (I don't work for them!)

They don't have those red ones now, but these are similar:

But for Mamas, those big Salt Waters are too cute!

I'm loving the grown-up version of these! They really are the perfect easy summer sandal. (The price isn't too bad either! Sometimes the simplest sandals go for a fortune, and I can't justify the price. These are a completely different story, though!)

Grew up with these (big & small sizes)...they're very like the classic fisherman sandals.

They are adorable for kids, but not easy to get hold of in Europe. Not sure I'd wear them myself though.

my two year old daughter has the white and red ones. I've been so happy with them- they are so durable! I am definately going to get us a matching pair next summer :) Oh and I ADORE the gold ones for mamas!

Mandee said...

Hi Joanna, this is so nostalgic for me because as a child every spring my mom would take my sister and I to the shoe to store in our local mall to pick out our summer salt water sandels. Of course some years I got my sister's hand-downs but most years that I chose I always chose white. I probably went through 10 pairs as a child. Love!

-m- said...

my little girl LOVES her yellow salt water sandals! If your son doesn't have tiny Toms yet, you should definitely buy him some:)

ohnomyboots said...

Yes! I love my salt water sandals! But I wish the adult version had the cute heart perforations that the girls' do.

My daughter wears Merrill's- strappy, adjustable, great sole/footbed support and pink.

Anonymous said...

I just got my first pair and I LOVE them (and no one in the history of the universe has ever called me chicer-than-chic) but I chose to deprive my toddler because she and I dress alike enough as it is, identical shoes might cross over to creepy. :)

I keep buying her Keen Sandals because you can throw them in the washing machine! A pair in a cute color is great for traipsing through the mud and also with a sundress for a party.

brandy! so funny that your baby's feet were too fat for these -- toby's were too! his feet were too fat for the original salt-waters, so we got the "swimmer" version and they fit him :)

My kids have them for the 3rd summer in a row. They are great. Perfect for sprinklers in the park and at the beach. The ones with the thin brown sole are better than the ones with the thick white sole. I have them too. In silver. Love them.

Alexandra Rae said...

Chocked me up, looking at these. My now 13 year-old son wore them until he protested around age 6. They were all passed down to his sisters. I also added white pairs to the girls' wardrobes. But there is nothing cuter than navy and red on little boys! Along with a little JohnJohn jumper.

A fun grown-up tip for saltwater sandals...slice off the ankle straps at the base...make for a nice pair of slip ons...and makes them a little less kiddish.

I did it to my red pair....people ask where I get them all the time.

They're really good quality, and a little nicer-looking than just flip flops (which are acceptable everyday footwear here in Socal)!

We love our saltwaters! I have one pair myself and would love to have some more colors. They are the most comfortable things ever. And cute too! They will endure anything a child puts them through and they love water.

I bought mine a few years ago and I haven't been able to find another pair since! Any leads?
