My mind is brimming with things to share today! But first: Does anyone know where to find this amazing fountain bench in New York City?! Wouldn't you love to be sitting there right now? xoxo
How cute! I wish SF had one of these...it's been blazing hot lately :) Although on all the other days it would be silly, considering how cold and windy it gets here.
would be so fun for a little kid - even more fun than running through a sprinkler! though, I must admit, I would totally enjoy this too, especially on really hot day.
It might be one of the pocket parks, Greenacre - 51st St. bet. Second and Third or Paley Park on 53rd near Madison. They both have fountians and are the tiniest of parks but very cool! I wish they had places like this in LA! Here's a link for you: http://www.pps.org/great_public_spaces/one?public_place_id=70
I know where that is - I live just up the block! It's a small park in Brooklyn Heights located at Columbia Place and State Street. There's also a much larger kids park down Atlantic Ave in the renovated Brooklyn Bridge Park at Pier 6. Come visit! Iris Cafe, also on Columbia Place, has the BEST sandwiches.
thats so cool! but you couldnt jump over the bench like you would over a sprinkler. that's okay though sitting there and cooling down in summer heat is still perfect. no clue where it is, ive only been to NY twice
Ah, I was just there a couple of weeks ago! That bench is at Palmetto Playground in Brooklyn Heights - right near Iris Cafe. The park is tucked away and really lovely.
I live in Siwa Oasis, Egypt and it is 40 degrees day and 28 at night (minimun) here now. We have fresh water springs here to swim in, but they are long walk away on a hot day. Shop owners hose the sand in front of their stores daily to keep the sand dust down, and I have been watching them and dreaming of childhood sprinklers in Australia. But this bench is what I really want. All the houses here have benches in front where the men sit in the evenings to chat, as it is cooler than being indoors. But this would beat any bench in town. I feel cooler just looking at it. http://siwasoul.wordpress.com/
omg! I love this and I used to live around the block from the park on Willow Place! That was our first place as acouple and even though it was teeny tiny it was our first home together and we still think about it even today. sigh....I think I need to go visit our old neighborhood and sit on this bench with Doug and the baby!
A few summers ago my friend and I went to a Yankee's game on a 90+ degree day and planned to hit up one of the city pools after. Since you are a NYer you are prob aware of how gross the pools are here. So we decided to run around in the fountains with the children! We got some pretty random stares but it was one of the best days every, I recommend it to anyone :-)
wouldn't that be silly if you didn't know it was a fountain bench and it started to go off. i would hope there is some type of warning.

That would be a pretty funny practical joke if someone sat on it while it was off and then it turned on on them. Hehe cruel, but funny.
