    ReplyDelete
  17. i was in paris last summer and search high and low for these sneakers! i might just have to order a pair online now :)

    ReplyDelete

  20. Cream sounds perfect! Are the sizes true-to-size? They are so cute and beachy for summer ...ciao!

    ReplyDelete
  21. the shoes run slightly small, so you want to go a size up. xo (it says this on the shop's website too, so i'm not the only one who thinks that :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hey Jo, those shoes are exactly what I have been looking for and could not find them around here. Now at least I know where I can order them.
I'm not French Girl, rather an older Texas Lady ;) but I just love 'em and will order the blue slippers.

    Regards and thanks for sharing

  23. I adore my Bensimon slip-on sneakers. Perfect with jeans or a skirt. They are so comfortable and tres chic!

    ReplyDelete
  24. They are so cute, I've often admired them from afar. Your annual pair, huh? I guess they must be comfortable. Always assumed they'd be kind of like Chuckies, cute but zero support and honestly not the most comfortable shoe in the world. Maybe I should try a pair... those slip-ons seem to be calling my name...

  25. I bought my yellow Bensimons after reading your old post about them. <3 They are so comfortable I wear them more than flip flops. Can walk in them all day, and I love that they don't look immediately recognizable (Toms, Converse).

I'm a 6.5 and have a size 37. They were snug at first but now have stretched out a bit and feel great.

I really like the laceless Bensimons - it's true there's no support, but I can usually do quite a bit of walking in them without any trouble. I've found they go best with capri pants and skirts; something about the thinness of the shoe looks a little strange (on me) with full-length pants or shorts.
I think that, for the quality, they're a little overpriced at $50+, but now that so many online stores carry them I can usually find a deal for $30 or under if I look around (and wait).

  27. did you know that they make them for kids as well? so next year you and Toby could have matching shoes?

  28. Joanna love the slip ons in blue, I must have them! After all I am a French Girl!

These are so cute!! I am going to Paris this summer. Would these be able to withstand lots of walking? Would they look sophisticated enough to be paired with dresses? (It's hard to tell from the pics.)

  42. Love those. Thanks for the sizing tip!

  44. I want a blue pair!

I also love Tretorn sneakers, which are from Sweden. I bought a pair and went to Stockholm on vacation, assuming all the girls would be wearing them too. Nope. Converse everywhere. hehehe

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yes, I have the purple ones, my daughter have grey and liberty and my son the blue ones. Every teenager wears Bensimon this spring in Paris, a real success story.

  55. did you see the crazy 60% off EVERYTHING sale moxsie's got going on? i scored two pairs of bensimon for less than the price of one. i love them with sundresses!

    ReplyDelete
  56. ha ha that is very french! One of my professors in France during my summer abroad wore these daily!! Are they as comfortable as Converse? I like them but am not crazy about them:/ They are definitely more feminine!! xo

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yeah, I love mine, they are mauve :p

    ReplyDelete
  58. Man...They never carry a size 10 1/2 :(

My big feet never get to wear pretty things.

    ReplyDelete
  59. No...but I'm about to!!! (have a pair. can't wait to buy them. I've never seen them before)!

    ReplyDelete
  60. My father would buy us (my sisters and I) a pair of those when we went to France in the summer and realized we forgot our sneakers! Shoes of my youth! Maybe I'll get another pair soon, though I tried them on recently and realized they didn't quite flatter my size 10 feet.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I love the idea of Bensimons (because I don't own a pair yet)! They look so elegant, though I prefer how they look with shoelaces. These shoes are definitely on my "wish-list." :)

i bought a pair but had to sen them back because they looked so cheaply made. what a disappointment because they are adorable online.

    ReplyDelete
  65. oh I do. And am always horrified by how quickly I wear them out.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Nope. I've got my red converse one-stars (from target), and my two-year-old and I match. :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. The soles in mine wore out after wearing them for about two weeks. I didn't even do that much walking in them, really-- just errands around town and a handful of short dog walks. I was bummed because they're so cute and somehow look more delicate with skirts than any other canvas summer shoe I've owned. Did anyone else have bensimons that fell apart way too fast? I want to think mine were an anomaly and that they usually last longer!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I have purple ones with laces and the coral colored slip ons. The coral is beautiful. So cute. They go with everything. Love them even more than my Toms.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I love them!! SO cute. Grey!!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. bensimons are my absolute favourite and my first ever blog was written about them and how i throw them in the washing machine ready for my spring/sumer adventures!

    I'm a french teenager and i have 10 Bensimons.
    There's so sweet . <3

  80. No, but I'm getting a pair! So cute!

    ReplyDelete
  81. I can't believe I'm the only one who feels the elastic on top of the shoe is WAY too tight. I tried to stretch them, wear them for long hours, nothing works. Too bad because they are cute. Then I got a pair of the Liberty lace ups and one of them has a defect on the white rubber tops that hurts my toe. Maybe it's just my luck.

    ReplyDelete
  82. yup, a grey lace up pair. although i can't comfortably wear them right now since i'm 8 months pregnant. it's tough lacing them up right now too!! haha. back to the brikenstocks and worishofers.

  84. I started living for the first time in Toulouse, France for my Masters, last september.

I travelled with a new converse, they were the only pair of shoes with me. It turned out they were small, made my feet sore, and couldn't keep walking with them all day.

So I went on my first days, with my very small student budget, shoe hunting. I found the Bensimon (I didn't know they were called that :) I thought they were cute, and got them because they were the cheapest shoes I could find here (20 euros).

Love them, and wear them almost everyday, mostly to go to the park :)

I bought my first pair 2 years ago in Paris...I saw a bunch of young Parisian girls running towards a shop yelling about some shoe sale. Turns out the Bensimon shoes were half off!

I bought a pair of army green lace ups and they are my favorite shoes for Summer. I have to go back to Paris for some more Bensimon sales ;)
