Bicycle riding pants

How amazing are these Daily Riding Pants for bicyclists? Made locally in New York, they shed rain and dirt and resist wear and tear. (Also, they're super sexy.) Thumbs up. Update: Outlier sweetly told me that they'd like to offer Cup of Jo readers 11% off their order with the code LadiesBike2. Thanks, Outlier!

Also, have you guys heard of Ride the City? The rad navigation website gives you the choice of the fastest or safest bike route to your destination. I used it this morning, and it told me the best bike paths all the way to Brooklyn!

(they remind me of betsy draper's equestrian pants on mad men.)

Ooh, I gotta get me some of those. Because let's face it, neon-colored spandex bike shorts... NOT CUTE.

Love these - and really love the boots too - any idea who makes the boots?

Love those! I don't ride bikes, but I'd still wear the pants!

If I wear them, will my butt look like that? :)

Not only are these hot for bike pants, they are hot for pants period. Great find!

Those pants are great!
I end up packing a light skirt and changing at work, but these would lighten my load :)

Ahh brilliant!

I have found the new trend for high waisted jeans and shorts are good for bike riding.

(p.s. I have that bike in purple. 1977 Raleigh Stowaway. Its beautiful.)

agreed, steph! last summer i was always pulling up my low-rise jeans while riding :)

Wow they look amazing but she looks amazing too!

I love how French it looks and not because I'm French but it's quite a classic, nice outfit we would wear in France

They look so stretchy and comfy. I would just wear them as regular pants.

have you heard of an event called 'The Tweed Run'?

http://stephdrake.blogspot.com/2011/04/tweed-run-2011.html

Its a 10km bicycle jaunt that takes in the sights of capital cities. Difference is everyone of the 500 participants wears tweed suits and vintage clothing and ride old fashion bicycles. Its great.

I went to the event last weekend and it was so much fun.

Fashionable sport- who knew!

this girl, this photo, this lighting.... beautiful! how great that they make such functional pants look this good!

Allison {Live Love Small} said...

love them for not riding bikes too!

ElisabethSpace said...

How fabulous. Most of my jeans are a bit too snug to wear while riding my bike and most of my comfy pants are too schleppy to wear out. These are brilliant!

Cath said...

They are just the perfect pants, aren't they? The fit and rise look like a comfy wear for riding the bicycle (vintage red wine and pink huffy!) around town. Yay!

Thanks so much for the link to that site. I'm still pretty unfamiliar with the bike routes in Brooklyn and Manhattan so this is super helpful.

The best part of these pants? Not having to be constantly worrying if the people behind you can see your um...you know...vertical smile ; ) I sometimes wear a sweatshirt around my wait (chic, I know) just to keep that problem at bay.

Bike shops have free paper maps. They don't run out of batteries and it's easier to plan a long journey.

I think I have too much junk in my trunk for those pants (which reminds me...those swim suits are for normal people?!).

I do realize that I missed out on my last trip to NYC by not renting a bike. Have you ever been to Adeline Adeline? On my list for next time

Dancing Branflake said...

So cute! My only dilemma when I wear cute clothes like that- what shoe do I wear? Ones that match always slip or get caught when I ride. So frustrating.

Joanna Goddard said...

katherine, haha, i've never heard "vertical smile." so funny ;)

I followed the links to your post about your adorable bern helmet. Do you know what the model of it is? I cant find one wit the cute visor!

Stacy (Little Blue Hen) said...

Those pants are great! I just got a bike and am still trying to figure out which clothes I can actually wear to ride it.

It doesn't help in NYC, but http://cyclopath.org/ is a fantastic resource for Twin Cities cyclists. (I know one of the developers, but I'm not personally invested in the project, I just think it's awesome).

Jessica said...

Love your blog!

I have a question about the discount. How long does it last? I am trying to spread out my bigger purchases so I'm hoping I can wait a week or two before I buy these. If not, I'll just have to suck it up and buy them this second...which isn't the end of the world because then I get them a few business days after! :)

Thanks for such a lovely blog!

Wow! I wish I could wear riding pants like these in my cycling class at the gym because they are very sexy! This totally puts wearing jeans and even sweatpants while bike riding to shame. It has an English feel and yet they look very comfortable.

I'm glad to see folding bikes are in vogue enough for fashion such as this - although it would be even sweeter on a Montague folding bike like mine.
