LOL! That's the kind of clever joke we all need more of in our lives ;-) I do feel a bit inappropriate laughing about a tragedy, but what gives. It's funny :-)
These are totally fab. I want one...this could also be a cool DIY from historical events in your lifetime if you geek out and collect newspapers. I may or may not be guilty as charged...
I loved these pieces by Austin Kleon! If you're interested in his other pieces, you can find them here. http://www.20x200.com/artists/austin-kleon.html
I've done a piece on some other wonderful art from this site if you'd like to check it out!
There's a site called godlovespoetry.com that uses this method to create poems about tolerance out of press releases and articles from Westboro Baptist Church (you know - the crazies that picket funerals and harass LGBT people.) The results are really beautiful. Regardless of how people feel about the topic of homosexuality, I think it's an amazing form of activism and a true testament that we can find hope and promote peace even in the face of hatred. You should check it out!
Great, great idea. I wonder what amount of planning goes into doing something like this or if certain articles just are easily seen this way or easily happened upon.
i am in love with this. when i learned that the titanic sank on my birthday (april 15th) i developed this huge infatuation with it. the movie, the books, the articles, the museum exhibits, EVERYTHING. i still am fascinated with it so this is amazing.
that is such a clever idea, but you're right - it honestly breaks my heart. i think it's such a beautiful print, but i'm not sure i could hang it anywhere in my house because it's just too heartbreaking!
I did an exercise like this in a class once...we were each given a few pages of a book and we had to white out a majority of the page to make one or two coherent sentences. It was pretty neat, but very difficult!
I love that idea of taking articles about historical events and doing this. I checked out some of the others...so awesome.
ReplyDeleteLove this!
ReplyDeleteLove it- I want to hang this over my piano.
