Embroidered book covers

How breathtakingly gorgeous are these embroidered book covers by Jillian Tamaki? She made them for Penguin Books, and rumor has it that they'll be available this fall. SO beautiful. (I'm sure Jane Austen would have wholeheartedly approved. I love Emma's little freckles!)
P.S. More + amazing + book covers.

i have such respect for people who embroider well...it's so hard! i tried to make embroidered valentines this year and it was challenging to say the least!
i can't wait for these to come out!
These are maybe the MOST amazing things I've seen in a LONG time! Thanks for sharing!

These are BEYOND amazing- I'm instantly obsessed with the Black Beauty one- so hope these will be available for purchase!
those are very pretty! I love it!
These are great. With an embroidered cover, any of these books would make a wonderful gift!
I'm laughing because a similar post is in my drafts file right now, haha! I'm in love with these as well -- Penguin has really knocked cover art out of the ballpark in the past couple of years. Good marketing (and icing on the cake for booklovers)!
LOVE this post!!
Wow those are gorgeous! It adds even more character to the books. Such a great idea.

so pretty! i think i would be scared to read the books with my usual tea and cookies for fear of my imminent spazziness.
I would probably treat this more like a piece of art than a book. They're stunning!

Those are amazing! What a pretty way to decorate a bookshelf.
beautiful! Cant wait to get these. I could see ANthropologie picking these up too.
well i wasn't really an english major (so close!) but i am an english teacher and i daresay my school needs to get their hands on this set of books asap.
I desperately want Emma. I have a 4 month old little girl, named Emma Rose and she needs this. Just perfect!
In an age when people are dumping their hardcover books for Kindles and iPads, it's lovely to see such painstakingly beautiful work for book covers. I especially love the Black Beauty cover. Lush.
Oh I need The Emma cover!! And I would love to give the Secret Garden to my daughter. What a perfect gift! I hope they are available soon!
so beautiful aren't they?
how creative <3

I just bought a number of these (http://www.designspongeonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/penguinclassics1.jpg) for Christmas presents last year...looks like the crocheted ones will be on 2011's list! Beautiful.
Hey! I read today that the movie clueless is based off of Emma - with some modernizations of course :)
Just a fun fact
(deannacaggiano.blogspot.com)
breathtaking.
i'd love to embroider a basic book cover for my husband... inspired! (of course it will never compare to these beauties!)
Black Beauty was my favorite growing up :)
These are beautiful!
Beautiful!

Melanie's Randomness
the secret garden cover makes me want to read it again RIGHT NOW! gorgeous.
i like the freckles on emma too <3
I had seen these before, but I didn't know that they were embroidered! Fantastic!
My grandmother taught me to embroider when I was seven. She would also have us thread -tons- of needles with the colors she would need and pin the strands to towels so she could do her sewing without having to stop. I really appreciate people who have this skill!
Barnes and Noble have a collection of books with revamped covers as well. Books like HG Wells stories and Alice in Wonderland- so pretty!
I lOVE LOVE LOVE these!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
omg, how did i forget about black beauty? oh, childhood.... sigh.
these ARE adorable Joanna!
I'm seriously amazed at your ability to find the cutest hippest things!
I absolutely love these books, I can't wait to buy them. Check my blog for a Jillian Tamaki podcast that's in the works!
These are beautiful. I hope she does sell them soon so I can start using them as gifts to my English Lit. major friends/myself :)
These are so adorable! I love the Black Beauty cover! Especially because that was my favourite book/movie growing up.
So pretty, they would be perfect for framing in a child's room.
Ooo! I can't comment for Emersonmade because the comments are full at 5k. But I did check out their site, and (even though this comment won't count) I love their clutches (especially the dandy zebra one, oooo but the pink and yellow ones are so cheerful). Honestly thought, what's not to like. Dresses, the stripey bag and scarf---so much to love. Thanks for pointing them out!
swoooon! those book covers are beautiful! i wish they would come out earlier though
oh, I couldn't comment on the emersonmade post either! Are you accepting more than 5k comments? (and that's crazy - 5k! testament to yours and emersonmades popularity, i think!). I didn't even have to look at the site to say that i love all of it, but esp. the bluebell jeans, the tweed blazer, the silk tie shirts, and the spring topper coat. I would buy the whole line, if I could afford it!
I couldnt comment on emerson either:( But have to say I loooove their polka dot skirt as well as their little trinkets. Wish I had a pet duck! hope this comment can be counted!
Moni
same here. the comments are maxed out but i looove the tweed jacket. the navy&brass came in second place.
I wish I could feel it through my screen! hah! i love that it says penguin threads. very sweet. :)
Oh my I want these badly...
Come check a fashionista book giveaway, hugs and kisses from Rio!

i like this,
wonderful illustrations.
I'm drawing with markers and Liners, it would be cool if someone embroidered with threads of my pictures)
Absolutely fabulous! x
Such a great idea!! I love it!
Hey!
I'm a longtime fan of this blog, but have never commented until now!
I'm actually the art and design intern with the Viking/Penguin imprints over at Penguin and got to see the actual embroidered pieces a couple of weeks ago. So breathtaking! I can't wait for the books to come out either...
These are truly stunning! The Secret Garden is one of my all-time favorites from girlhood. I'll have to mark my calendar now so I remember to get my very own copy in October!

Here what i found -> vision correction
From the descriptions I've read about these book covers, they are embossed, not actually embroidered, unfortunately.
