Do-it-yourself cloud artwork

Since Alex and I are giving our bedroom a makeover, we've been thinking about new artwork. Well, this is genius: Amber took her a snapshot of clouds and then blew it up on glossy poster paper for $30. Then she framed it in an IKEA Ribba frame. The whole project cost less than $60, and it's gorgeous! Double thumbs up! I'm super inspired.

  1. Not only is the photograph beautiful - but I love how elements of it are echoed in the blue and white Ikat pillows and the sheep skin throws.

  41. OHhh, I like it! I'm all about the apartment/house DIY. I wanted some sort of solar system theme in my hallway or bedroom, and it's so easy to find high resolution photos on the web, and have them re-printed for cheap. Then, just find a frame! Same thing with the clouds, great idea... and then when people compliment it, you can say "oh, yeah, we did that ourselves!" Or, "I did it myself!" haha

  55. Great idea! I love personalized art work. I have a friend who went around and took pictures of the street signs for every street she lives on. Then she blew them up to 8x10 and framed them in rows on a blank wall. It looked so nice and personalized.

  71. You've inspired me but there is not one cloud in the sky today, it's the most gorgeous day we have had all year ! Maybe tomorrow.......

    ReplyDelete
  72. Yes, I am feeling better today. Try to reuse old frames is all I'm sayin'.

If your camera doesn't have a good enough resolution, try photoshop it with a grainy filter - THis will give the effect of having been taken with an analog camera. And remember, people won't be looking at it up close anyway, it will look fine from five feet away.

And I don't wanna hear anyone complaining about not having any clouds in the sky! Winter is coming too soon here, I'm jealous!
