Pregnant belly and fruit

Photographer Carolee Beckham is expecting a baby and is doing a fun photo series: She takes a snapshot of her growing belly and the piece of fruit that corresponds to the size of her baby that week. Huge congratulations, Carolee!

P.S. Crazy to think that in the final photo she'll be holding a watermelon!

So much fun. When I was pregnant, co-workers loved it that my baby was the size of a peach and now they sitll call her "Peaches"

Cute pics... I had called my baby album 'my little avocado' because that was my son's size when I started writting it... Did you make one for Toby ?(I have to say I still have to finish up mine and my son is turning 2 in 2 months !)

A very cute idea with some lovely photos! I've always thought it was a little weird to think of babies in terms of fruit but I'm sure I'll do it once I'm pregnant too!

Ha ha, this is cute and funny. Just wait until she gets to the "large shrimp" phase, or the "banana" phase.

My sister in law is tracking it with fruit also and the website she uses is starting to use really obscure fruit. It was fun when it was "kiwi" or "orange" but now they're like... "rutabaga? really? What's that?"

so clever! It would be fun if she also made a recipe with each food...maybe I'll do something like that next time ;)

This idea is so great that, as a photographer and mother of three, I sort of want to have another baby just to chronicle the growth with fruit myself....Now every time I see a lemon, I am going to want a baby. Hey, what is the expression? When life gives you lemons....Bravo, I love it and will now be following the work of this amazing photographer!

I did the fruit shots throughout my pregnancy, too. :)
Then, I made a book using all the fruit/belly pictures. I titled it, "Growing Alice".

I love the fruit comparison! And the photos are beautiful. I recently asked a friend how big her baby was now and she said, it's like a peach, with flippers for arms. So funny. But maybe you had to be there?

how sweet, congrats to her

Rose said...

Oh my friend did the same thing all thru her pregnancy! Her shots look different in terms of style, though. She gave birth to a heathy little watermelon :)

This is too funny. My best friend lives in a different state and each week I send her emails comparing our bambino-to-be to fruit/veggies. Hard to believe we're at carrots already!

It was fun when it was "kiwi" or "orange". People try to eat fruit when they are pregnant. It would be fun if she also made a recipe with each food.
