Have an adventurous weekend!
My sweets, what are you doing this weekend? My mom is coming from Michigan to visit tomorrow, and Alex and I are taking a staycation in New York next week! Alex is staying home from work, and my mom will hang out with Toby while Alex and I go on adventures, like taking snowy bike rides, going to a speakeasy in Queens and having long dinners with friends. We're even considering staying in a hotel for a night (is that crazy?). I'm so excited for a breather and want to give my mom a huge kiss for letting us galavant around the city!
Meanwhile, one of my favorite bloggers will be guest posting next week. And here are a few fun posts from around the web...
Adorable family frame wall.
Tightrope walking sculptures.
Remember this pitch-perfect wedding? Well, Emma wrote a book!
A lovely way to spend a rainy day with a little dude.
How to look like Bonnie and Clyde.
Have you ever tried milk soap? It's on my wishlist.
Pixel pour = rad street art.
A treehouse bed.
Have a great weekend, and a big hug to you all!

Happy weekend to you too!!!
That milk soap sounds lovely!
Definitely not crazy to stay in a hotel for a night! Do it with my boyfriend. Enjoy yourselves!
Aww I love the post on Bonnie and Clyde. My grandparents actually helped to hide them when they were traveling through Texas, so it might be fun to incorporate a few of their style concepts into my wardrobe for a day. Also, I think it's terribly romantic to stay in a hotel for a night...my hubby and I do it all the time, it brings a little sparkle to life.
Have a great weekend and thanks for so many wonderful posts!
Love that street art... amazing concept!
I use goat milk soap to shave with, will never shave with shaving cream again! (my mom sells it in her store.)
Im so jealous of your staycation. I think the hotel idea is a great one, there just something about a nice hotel room even for one night that feels so good. Good for the two of you giving yourself some grownup time.Have fun. Looking forward to the guest poster.
Do you know if the lil bee had her baby? Im sure she did... Can't wait to hear.
A staycation? What a fabulous concept :) Aren't Mum's brilliant?
Enjoy every minute Jo. I'm off to dream of my very own treehouse bed xx
LOVE the tightrope sculptures...how unique!

Have fun on your staycation! I think you should definitely go for the hotel :)
I think I need the treehouse bed, so cool!
Happy weekend! Get that hotel, it will be a wonderful break from the every day routine.
My baby shower is this weekend, and we have friends in town staying with us.
Have fun! Yes, get the hotel.
Petra
Go for it! And enjoy!!
Love Fresh products. you featured their soap. They have more products available that are great.
My pleasure.
No, it's not crazy it's fun!!
Have fun on your little staycation! P.S. We just watched Babies tonight, and I remember you recommending it awhile back. It was fantastic!
I think that's a genius idea! Well done! Nothing like staying in a hotel in your city! It gives you a completely different perspective on your home! Plus, can you ever really beat room service?

Enjoy your staycation! My parents live in Scotland and we're in Melbourne, Australia so our date nights are few and far between with a 20 month old! We do, however, take FULL advantage of them when they come to visit!

Oh how I would also need a staycation in Paris. You mum is great for stepping in while you enjoy a week en amoureux in the city (between, I'd totally go for the night at the hotel!). Have fun! Bisous
i always love your weekend posts....you always link the best stuff.
moms are like that. we love to help out our children --especially when it involves grandchildren!
Speaking of milk soap.. it's awesome! I use a goat milk soap, and it is so nice. It smells up the entire bathroom like lavender and sage.
Happy Saturday Joanna!

gosh! i love that picture! anybody knows where i can get a copy of it??
Happy weekend! :)
A staycation sounds wonderful, but what's a speakeasy? (I'm not sure we have them here in the UK).
There's a speakeasy in queen?? Where? please tell!
ok i LOVE the hotel idea. really what prompted me to leave a comment though was the "milk soap" on your wish list...
i wanted to leave you a friend of mine's site. the difference between her products and other people's is that they raise their own goats to get their natural milk and Lindsay makes it from scratch and knows what's in it. Others may buy the mixture already made and then add their 'flavors' to it.
it's soooo affordable! you should check it out!

have a great weekend!
Yay! So exciting. Thank god for Mama Jean. Enjoy your weekend and go for it... a hotel for the night! yay!!! Fun,fun, fun!
Brilliant idea to have some time to yourselves - while divine - babies are hard work and every now and then you need to just be....w/o them! Good on you and yay for your divine mum. Meanwhile - goats milk soap - try it and you won't ever look back. Lovely and creamy and ohh so good for you and Toby too. Even use it on my dog. If you can't get some easily - say the word and I'll send you a parcel of pure creamy bliss!
Sounds like your staycation will be great! Hope you're headed to Dutch Kills in LIC-- LOVE that place:) Have a wonderful time:)
pre de provence milk soap is a great one
Definitely in favor of the hotel!!
Enjoy!
I'm from Michigan!
And I love your rainy day post!

Staying the night in hotel when you have a baby is the best value ever! You treasure every moment! After a few times trying to travel for the weekend, we realised best to drive over the bridge to San Fran and stay there. Have a brilliant weekend!
Enjoy your weekend in the city! It is freezing in Manhattan tonight...so windy!! By the way the pixelated blue installation is so awesome.
it sounds like fun...and new york is the perfect place to do it!! one time my husband and i packed up our kids for a "surprise" overnite vacation. we drove all around and ended up at a hotel downtown ...about 10 minutes from our house. we had lots of downtown adventures and had tons of fun. my kids still talk about it...remembering it as one of the best times ever!
enjoy your time off
michelle
I hope you have a fun staycation! I think it is such a great idea.
My Heart Blogged
I've always wanted my own treehouse let alone a treehouse bed (I might be a tad too old for one now sadly)! It's oh so cute!
You have a great mom - that´s for sure! :-)
you should DEFINITELY get a hotel one night. will and i sometimes do that in laguna beach, just a hop skip and jump from newport.
have so much fun on your staycay. =) you live in the best city for one.
Feel better soon, Joanna.
Book the hotel! My husband and I just spent a night at the Chambers. It's mellow, and glam and you can feel a little incognito for the night. So worth it !
Hope you had a great weekend, I love your blog and the links! - So inspiring!

Oh! Which speakeasy in Queens? Dutch Kills? The Gordon's Cup is my favorite there.
I came across your blog today..... I've been absorbed ever since! :)

Great mom! Go out and enjoy while you can...you don't get it often, even if you will say "I wonder what Toby is doing now." Your mom will be spoiling him...it's what grandma's do best! Enjoy!
Enjoy your rest and spontaneity. :)

A treehouse bed! Awesome!
Milk soap is so lovely! It smells so delicate and leaves your skin baby soft.
Have the most wonderful time! I heart a good staycation- especially when it's in one of the greatest cities of all :)
I love staycations! I've stayed in a hotel in my home city of Milwaukee by myself... it's wonderful!
I spent the weekend in Madison at the Capitol Building. I work for a school district and wanted to support my fellow colleagues.
Ooh! How exciting! Staycations can sometimes be even more relaxing and restful because you avoid the long hours of travel. It's not crazy at all, you deserve a little break:) Your mom is wonderful!! Hope your staycation is awesome! XO
Photo is fabulous! Have a great time in the city!
Best!

Staycations are the best! Enjoy.
I haven't used the Fresh milk soap that you linked here, but I love the goat milk products from Dionis, especially the shampoo & conditioner in hyacinth.
Generous offer Samantha, but Jo said she needs pictures of your boyfriend first.
Goats milk soap is the best! See if you can find some homemade bars at a market, that always feels more nutritious than store bought :)
I just love the picture you've chosen for this post! Looks amazing:)
