Here are six things I like right now...1. Short hair & strong brows. I envy girls who can pull off this look.
2. Michelle. One of my favourite Beatles songs, it has been on repeat lately.
3. Odilon Redon. Seeing his work in person is something that has to be experienced.
4. Crumpets. Served hot with raspberry butter, mmm...
5. Steven Alan Fall 2011. Very ready for South Africa's winter to start--if only for the opportunity to dress like this.
6. Bicycle Portraits. A beautifully photographed and incredibly worthwhile project that hopes to promote cycling as a means of independent transport in South Africa.

I cut my hair super short years ago- a la halle berry. I never seemed to get the eyebrow thing down though. It was nice to have my hair ready in less than 30 seconds, but I'm a sucker for long hair now.
ReplyDeleteI agree on all points apart from the crumpets - yuck.
ReplyDeleteoohh love this hair style :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your guest posts Diana - amazing! P.S. such a great Beatles song, that's how my parents chose my middle name!
ReplyDeleteeverything you like i like :) not to sound cheesy. but i love the beatles, delicious crumpets should be in front of me right now, Redons artwork is bizarre and fantastic and bicycle portraits are awesome, especially with really old vintage bikes!!

I have strong brows - I wonder if I could pull off the short hair look. hehe
ReplyDeleteThose short hair pics are dangerous-makes me want to chop my hair off!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could pull off a look like that with short hair. I love short hair cuts but it's not for my hair or face shape :(

I was so happy when I went to Tealuxe in Boston, because they serve crumpets with clotted cream. . . the first time I'd had either of those things (and holy crap, clotted cream is hard to find in Boston! what is up with that?)
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to regret spending three hours one night looking through 25 different shows. . . now I more or less can't remember which one is which. :( I really like the slouchy leopard-print gloves in that show's sixth look.
cool! I really want short hair, but dont have the confidence to do it yet!! love this post! xcx

Michelle is a great song! As a kid, I used to think the song was for me because my middle name is Michele. And short hair I did as a child, and I wouldn't dare repeat it.
ReplyDeleteaw, i loved the things you listed! michelle is also one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteon mornings where i am in a hurry or just don't feel like putting make up on (hardly wear much as is) i always at least make sure my eyebrows look good- too many people overpluck, you don't need to do much and i love that mine are just a dark or if darker, than my hair. nicely groomed eyebrows make you look good to go even if you don't have alot of make up on!
aaaand love the mention of odilon redon. wrote several papers about him in my college days. his work is overwhelming in person.
hope you are having a lovely thursday and i'm enjoying your guest blogging! :)
oh i envy short-haired girls! things would be so much easier to fix in the morning!
ReplyDeleteLove the look of super shirt hair, I am just too chicken to try it.
ReplyDeleteThe crumpets look so good too. I think I am going to go make some popovers right now to eat with my homemade berry jam.
drooling. Crumpets with raspberry butter?!? yes, please!!
ReplyDeleteMiss moss, I'm loving your guest posts! I'm a huge lover of South Africa- so it's been a delight to see your links to the food, art and design that is going on there. xo
ReplyDeleteThat Odilon Redon is beautiful. Mmm, I love amazing art.
ReplyDeletePS- I'm having a GIVEAWAY on my blog! Please come and see!
I LOVE big expressive eyebrows on women!

I like bicycle portraits too. A bike like other things, says so much about a person's personality.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteespecially the bike portraits link. my roommate's an avid cyclist and works for a non-profit bike company, and one of my friends is in south africa right now working on research for AIDS.
i'll have to share these with them!

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I want to roll around on the Larucci blanket (though if I won I would be gifting it to my about-to-be-new-mama friend!)
ReplyDeleteNot every girl can say that she has a song with her name, and certainly not every girl can say she has a BEATLES song with her name =) It makes me smile ever time I hear it!
ReplyDeleteYayy!!! I was named after that song!!!
ReplyDelete-Michelle :-)
The Baby Wave Sun Suit is adorable! My little one would love to bask in the summer rays in something as cute as that!
ReplyDeletei agree with your #1, i love short hair as well. i just got myself a pixie hair cut last weekend. first time ever! i don't have strong brows (i think) but they're dark.
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting a friend in London this week and just tried crumpets for the very first time. Raspberry butter sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteI love the post and agree with you!
ReplyDeleteBicycle portraits sounds like such a great organization! It's an organization I can feature in a series on my blog about charities. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThe crumpets we buy in the uk are very different looking to these but i'm going to give this recipe a go because they look delish, also someone said they were going to make popovers which i think of as yorkshire puddings and we have those with gravy blimey this is all so confusing!

I've always envied girls who can pull off a sort, pixie do. It inevitably leads to an awkward moment for my hairstylist when I, once again, ask her why I can't have one.
ReplyDeleteright there with you on the short hair/strong brows. she is stunning!
ReplyDeleteI've got short hair and strong brows. Hurray, I'm trendy! :D
