Back to the future

For her Back to the Future project, photographer Irina Werning, where she invites people to reenact their childhood photos. Awesome.

This is a lovely idea. So cute to see how these kids look as grown-ups.
I just saw this today via Cool Hunter and loved it.
You know, I also remember an ANTM edition where they did a photo shoot inspired by the models' childhood photos, but I probably shouldn't admit that I watch that show (guilty pleasure, looooove!).
Wow..what an amazing project!!! Aww..I love that last one..(cheeky smile)..hahha
Kisses
How fun! I would never so this- I was the most ugly kid ever!
Oh my god, this project is awesome! What a creative idea... gets me thinking about a few hilarious childhood photos that might need some re-enacting soon :)
wow, this is so awesome! what a great concept ♥

This is such a fun idea! Loving it!
So cute :) I might try this.
I saw a series of photos like this on another website and it was hilariously fascinating. Always crazy to see how people change but can stay exactly the same.
this is a riot, I love it
this is absolutely brill - love it xxxx
That's seriously cool. I wonder what my 'back to the future' moment would be...
SO awesome! :) Such a fun idea. My, look how they've grown :)
I agree with all of the above! These photos are so cute, and the project looks like a lot of fun!
Thanks for sharing!
OK, this is the coolest thing I've seen in a while. LOVE photography projects like this one!
What a fun idea, it's fantastic. I did this with my daughter a few times. Every time we went to Disneyland I had her pose in front of the same door - mostly to track her growth in a fun way. Love this.
What a great idea! Those pictures are a riot- so much fun. I'd love to reenact some childhood photos with my little sister!
Great idea :)
This is so great - same expressions, same body language, I love it! :)
Whoa, I just bloogged about this too. And I included something similar I did with a photo of my mom I recreated.

How fun would it be to do this with Toby every five years so you have a sequence!?
Haha---That is freaking awesome! Love this idea!

Heehee so cute! Love this idea!
This is so cool! Thanks very much for sharing!
This would be the best anniversary present for parents - have their kids reenact their childhood photos! Thanks for the cool idea.
Amazing! These photos are hilarious!
this would be fun to do with a sibling, childhood sweetheart or best friend. the bathtub one- hilarious!
that is the funniest thing i've seen in a while. love. love love.
So cool! I love the first one - people don't really change, no?

What an amazing, amazing project!!!!! I'd love to do this with family photos. Thank you for sharing. Incredible.
That is seriously cute! My favorite is the one of the girl in the white t and boots. How did she find those exact boots so many years later? (Or maybe they really ARE the same boots?) Either way...I love it!
My brother and I do this every christmas! There's a picture where he is sitting cross legged and I'm sitting with my feet out in front of the christmas tree and we re-enact it every year, LoL.
sooo funny!!!
Best,
Li

So cool!

This is such a fun project! I totally want to participate in something like this!
Oh my god that's brilliant. I'm thinking I'm going to have to recreate the photo of when I was 4, sitting at a coloring book in my underwear with a crayon tucked behind my ear. Nerd since preschool.
LOL! That's SO funny! I love it.
www.clothedmuch.com
totally just posted this on my blog yesterday. these are great!
What a great idea!!!
Haahhaha, so funny!
I am so-so-so loving this!
LOVE it!
ohhhh i could have fun with this!
challenged to get your link to open ... keep getting an error message. maybe that's 'cuz so many peeps are trying to access it at once ... like wildfire ... hmmm?
even with that minor frustration I still like the idea and want to give it a go ... :O)
Such a creative way to look at the past! I would be a great candidate for the project. Friends love to tease that I look exactly same as I did in my baby photos.

This project is just so brilliantly fun, and well done technically.
Oh I needed a good laugh today. This is too funny! What a brill idea.
The Cheeky Cafe
this is awesome.
Love it! So beautiful to see the passage of time like that. Although, I must be a bit slow, it took me awhile to realize most of those were photoshopped heads onto the old pictures and I was amazed at these people's abilities to find an outfit exactly like the one they had when they were kids.
Found Back to the Future a couple of days ago and fell in love with it. Glad you posted it!
Here's another great photography project: Touching Strangers
http://www.renaldi.com/portfolio/tstrangers1.html

what a fantastic concept.
I love these! There's a site (Young me Now me) that has people re-enact old family photos. I thought about doing it once. They have some really funny ones, here: www.zefrank.com/youngmenowme/

I love "FLOR, MALE, SIL IN 1983 & 2010". Thanks for sharing :)
There is another similar project/blog called "Young Me Now Me," although the photos there are submitted by readers, as opposed to taken by a professional. Check it out here: http://www.zefrank.com/youngmenowme/
I came across this yesterday and loved it. Brilliant! xoxo.
haha, so awesome. what a creative idea.
Okay, these are awesome. Love guy at the top.
This is such a great idea! I'd love to see more...
such a fun idea. my mom would love if we (my sisters and i) did this for her as a gift.
I'm so going to try this and make it my facebook picture :)
I did this with my toddler son recreating a famous shot of my brother standing in the grass wearing only tighty witeys and rain boots holding a flower. So funny and cute!
Love these, especially the girl in the boots! Will you be contributing a diptych to this adorable series? Speaking of your gifts for guys post, this could make a sweet framed gift :)
See, finds like this are why we like you
Oh gosh, these are so adorable! The accuracy of the backgrounds are totally striking as well. What an interesting project (:

this is so cool...love it!
haha this is hillarious, I love it... can't wait to see the whole thing.. thanks for sharing..
stay cool..
These are great! The high school where I student taught does this for their yearbook. Graduating seniors are encouraged to submit childhood photos, and then they reenact them as accurately as possible, often with other graduating students. As a teacher, it's especially fun to see how much a student has grown from when they were in 4th grade to their senior year!
what an amazing amazing project! thanks for sharing it.
i wonder if she knows about zefrank? he already had this "young me now me" project going on for quite awhile now. its super hilarious!
http://www.zefrank.com/youngmenowme/
How fun! I would definitely try this sometime. What a cute gift idea for mother's or father's day too!
So cute and fun! Love the idea
I have to agree with some other comments about Young Me Now Me. This 'Back to the Future' project is a total rip off of ZeFrank's project that started in 2008.
Though I appreciate Irina Werning's work, there's no doubting how identical this is.
And it must be added that YMNM is much more endearing as people recreate their photos on their own.
I love this idea! I need to look for a photo of me where the outfit is easily re-creatable... are New Kids on the Block tshirts and stirrup leggings still easy to get?
ha! this is hilarious. what a great idea.
Oh, I love this! I'd love to reenact a particular fav pic of mine!
Holy cow! What an ambitious endeavor. So well orchestrated and I just can't stop going back to compare the two on all of the images in the link. Awesome.
Woo ~ I'd love to recreate me as a baby biting my toes... haha. doubt that I can be that flexible now.
this is WAY cool. What a genius idea!
Miyan
www.miyan-overseas.blogspot.com
What amazing pictures. I wouldn't mind recreating a few of my pictures.
Funny! I'll try do do some shot with my family
I am still looking for something suitable to compare me now with then.

aren't these so great? i was on her site this morning drooling over them, and i felt so sad when i realized i'd seen all of them and there were no more to see.
ah. to be THAT kind of artist.
How creative! It's fun looking back and seeing how you've changed yet you're still a child at heart.
phone it in much?
