New York is freezing this week, and I'm loving this cozy outfit, which manages to make sweatpants look cool. (Who knew?) J. Crew has some similar knit pants which look super soft and lounge-y.Hope you're staying warm today! xo

I first saw this trend in the fall and i'm in loooove with it.... I wear sweatpants most days so it's cool that they are cool now! :D

I've seen this trend as well, but this is the first time I've ever been tempted to try it. So cozy and, dare I say it, chic!
ReplyDeleteH&M has some super cute cuffed sweats as well...love.
ReplyDeletePajama chic... love it!
ReplyDeletei could not pull this off without looking schlumpy. *but* i am thrilled to see that j. crew has petite lounge pants now!

I've been lusting after sweats like these for ages and still haven't bought any! Perhaps this will be the kick I need... it's cold in my area too!

im forever wishing that sweatpants are allowed at (my ) workplace! bleh!
ReplyDeleteer, I am soooooo not the person to ask right now...at least mine are cashmere!
ReplyDeleteKnit pants = instantly cozy.
ReplyDeleteSome how I don't think this look would look as chic on me as it does on her :)
ReplyDeletei've been rocking the sweatpants. no shame, no shame.
ReplyDeleteYour a girl after my own heart! I LOVE a cozy outfit. Burberry has some cashmere lounge pants like this that I've been longing for.
ReplyDeleteThe Cheeky Cafe
I love sweatpants but I was mocked by a group of Brazilians the other day as we took a walk down the promenade. The funniest thing is they were wearing speedos, how do they dare mock me?!
ReplyDeleteit totally works! i love it.
ReplyDeleteso happy elastic waist pants are making a come back..not sure my thighs are too happy about it.
ReplyDeleteGreat look! Who knew sweatpants could be oh, oh so cool! xxxx

It's not often that comfort meets beauty...
ReplyDeleteSo cute! It was -22 with wind chill here in Boston yesterday. I'll wear just about anything to stay warm at this point.

ReplyDeleteIt's freezing here too..We just got some fresh snow today and Im totally for the sweatpants trend. They are comfy, cozy and make me feel good:) hahah..Kisses:)
ReplyDeleteEvery sweatpants lover out there needs to take note. One of my biggest pet peeves is seeing people with slouchy University sweat pants in Uggs.
ReplyDeleteThis look is great!
ohhhhh how I'd love to lounge in sweats right now. *sigh***
ReplyDeleteAh, comfy!
ReplyDeletevery cute but I still think sweat pants belong in bed, at thome, or at the gym/track/trail. but if you can pull it off, do it:)
ReplyDeletehola joanna! I´m from southern spain and I reaaally love your blog. I´ve been living in ny for some time and all your posts remind me to that wonderful city!

My friend has the most magical pair of sweat pants that look like dress pants when you wear them with nice shoes and you cover the top of them with a long sweater...you seriously can't tell the difference unless you touch them
ReplyDeleteEspecially after a long day, all you want is to be comfortable!
ReplyDeleteXxx jenn.

i'm wearing that exact outfit right now. with tall brown boots :)
ReplyDeleteIt takes skill for sweats to not look frumpy. Nice to see J. Crew offering some "nice" sweats!

(giveaway week!)
I keep seeing these and I love the look, but I doubt I'd be able to pull the trend off so successfully. There is such a think line between cozy and frumpy...

Sweatpants = life!
ReplyDeleteyep, i'm in. sweatpants are my go-to in the winter anyway, and dare i say they look CUTE in that photo?!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit makes me want to go home, get comfy and eat pasta. Does this make anyone else want pasta?

So lovely x
ReplyDeletei luv fashionable sweatpants! i've seen some photos of people wearing them and looking very good at the same time on the sartorialist and your blog too!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I just bought a really cute pair! Wearing them today. I'm in New York City, any ideas of fun shops or museums and stuff like that to go to Joanna?
<3 Zara
I love Heart Charlie and I love that you feature her so often.
ReplyDeleteit's the perfect sunday outfit. and i LOVE heart charlie, too! just found her blog a few days ago - ADORe her
ReplyDeleteI think I have those same sweatpants! They're from H&M!
ReplyDeletezara, i'd recommending going to the museum of modern art, it's awesome and has a great cafe, too. and courtney, good to know! :)
ReplyDeleteCute and comfy!!!
ReplyDeleteOnly at home, said the cranky lady in DC freezing her rear off (I wish it really did freeze it off:) Seriously, these only look good on people w/a certain shape. Think about it. But at home - absolutely.
ReplyDeleteCheers.
cozy, yet somehow chic. LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteI follow Heart Charlie too - she always knows how to make sweatpants look cute! I need to work on that ;)

i've been saying for weeks that all i want are sweatpants that don't look like sweatpants. maybe it's all about the pairing!
ReplyDeleteI've got a pair just like these, and I've worn them to pieces! They're great for cold weather.
ReplyDeleteHave a great evening!
Kisses from Texas!

boston too. fricking cold. i hate it.
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of cool slouchy sweats! My fav pair is from Jules Power which are a bit loose around the hips and fitted in the leg. Not only do I wear them kicking around the house but I wear them out with lace up booties!
ReplyDeleteThe cardigan and sheer blouse is divine! The outfit looks very cozy. x
ReplyDeleteLately I have really enjoyed the look of an oversized sweatshirt and jeans with some sneakers.
ReplyDeleteI would totally wear this!
ReplyDeleteI don't like this kind of "hidden" commercial for that you do for J Crew, as lovely as their clothes are.
ReplyDeleteFunny. This is almost the opposite of your posts on dressing like a French woman... but I'm not knocking sweats. Sometimes comfort trumps fashion. Sometimes sweats can look good. On me? Almost never.
ReplyDeletei was just talking to a friend yesterday over coffee - how we both admitted to stepping out to pick up something from the store in our sweats - hehe - maybe these would help!
ReplyDeletePerhaps these could replace my favorite Lucy Brand Big Sweatpants :)
ReplyDeleteLuluLemon sweat pants are the. best.
ReplyDeleteDon't bag out on you. Back inside pocket. Draw strings at the ankle to turn them into harem pants (you know. to keep the hems out of the snow.)
I live in NY too. I was planning to go swimming this weekend at the public indoor pool. Instead, I spent my time in my leggings and swimming in giant sweatshirts.
ReplyDeleteGreat read. Thank you for showing an example of how you may incorporate a pair of sweat pants into an outfit that make them look cool.
