Looking for an office space

My darlings, does anyone know of an available desk at a shared workspace in downtown Manhattan? I've been going a little nutty working from home (and miss having co-workers), so I'm searching for an office to share with other freelancers. Instead of a place where a bunch of different people come and go (like Paragraph or In Good Company), I'm hoping to find a shared office in Manhattan where the same small group of creative people work everyday and have their own dedicated desks (like Swissmiss's great office in Brooklyn).

If you know of a shared workspace in Manhattan that might have an available desk, I would be THRILLED to hear (and very grateful to be considered)! Thank you SO much!!! hellojoannagoddard at gmail xoxo

This place is new, so I don't know much about it but my husband looked into it when we thought he would need a space. New Work City http://nwc.co/

Also, the wiki can be a great resource. http://wiki.coworking.info/w/page/16583629/CoworkingNewYorkCity

PS Don't you wish NYC had something like CAMPOmaha, the coworking spaced started by Megan Hunt, aka, Princess Lasertron? http://www.campcoworking.com/

Have you checked out The Listings Project? It's an email that goes out every Wednesday with workspaces and apartments for rent/sublet. They often have situations like what you've described.

Good luck!

I hope you find a place. Sorry that I am no help. I often think it would be nice to work from home, but then I too would probably go a little nutty and need to be around people, out of the house. GOOD LUCK!

If you do end up starting your own space, I just found this article the other day on GOOD:

I know how you feel Joanna! I work from home as well and I'm sure my room mates are tired of hearing me talk about work. It's just not the same without coworkers. I hope you find what you're looking for! :)

the building i work in is full of small creative studios and almost always has a flyer in the hallway about an available desk. i'll keep an eye out for you, but if you want to look into it, it's 611 broadway (the cable building.)

Isn't it funny how we always want what we don't have. Even though I love my co-workers, I dream of working from home:-D
Hope you find a place, but I also think that starting your own place would be very educational and fun for us to read about:-)

I don't know of a place in Manhattan, but I just had to chime in and say that my husband and I work at a space just like this in Portland called TENpod, and we LOVE it! It is so great to be around all the great creative energy. We have graphic designers, architects, nonprofits, consultants, and artists and it is fantastic. Good Luck Joanna!

Someone on my local parenting group posted they're offering a desk at $400-$700 a month in the Crate and Barrel building in Soho. You'd be sharing a space with Film/TV Sales & Finance Co., Web Designers. Since it wa a private listing, feel free to contact me if you're interested. Good luck in your search! :)

If you happen to find a good space would you mind sharing, Joanna? I just recently signed a book deal and desperately need a writing space away from my very active (& adorable) toddler! I have yet to find a good option in Manhattan.

There's a free workspace on 10 W. 18th street floor 2, called the Wix Lounge. It's always very quiet and never too many people (6-10 in a HUGE space) with lots of tables and private seating nooks. I highly recommend it!

Have you checked out Tech Space (http://www.techspace.com/)? My boyfriend works for a small mobile advertising agency and rents a space here. It is located right in Union Square and is the same space with a other small digital/new media companies like Pandora, as well as freelances. It may not be as intimate as you are looking for, but great location and there are lots of amenities. P.S. Love, love your work : )

Hi Joanna,

I can put you in touch with the people who run New Work City if you like?

You might enjoy Green Spaces:
http://bit.ly/hS5quT (my personal preference).

A third location We Work New York is close by. They are each within 5 minutes of each other.

I can offer you contact info from people at all 3 locations (actual clients and/or service reps). But I recommend spending a day at each place and feeling it out. Green Spaces offers a complimentary pass for 1 day.

Happy Searching,
Parris
