my brother has been sick recently, and we've reverted to our old childhood habit of playing hearts and poker, like when did in the summers as little kids. I read somewhere that every couple must have a game they both enjoy. taboo would be a great one.

Yessss!! My family & I have played this game through childhood and beyond. Some of the mispronunciations and goof-ups are still running jokes to this day, wonderful memories!

Ooh, have you ever played Celebrity? My friends are I are obsessed. Everyone writes down the name of 3-5 celebrities (depending on the size of the group - bigger groups, fewer names) and puts them in a hat. You divide into teams and go back and forth trying to your team to guess as many celebs as they can in 30 seconds. That's the first round. In the second round the names go back in the hat and you start over, but you can only say two words to get people to guess (guys are really good at this one). In the third round, no words allowed, just charades. It's hilarious! And awesome when people say weird things in the first round, because they come up in the next rounds! We are loving it too, playing it every week ;) Also obsessed with Cranium, it's really fun. Every time we have a get together I'm anxiously awaiting for game time. Oh! and Rummikub, love Rummikub.
Oh my gosh, if you love Taboo, then you need to try The Big Taboo... it's like Taboo only better! I'm a huge nerd and force my friends to come over for game nights once a month. (They secretly love me for it though.) Bendy Bob is a HUGE hit!

Have you ever played True Colors? Each person is represented by a color. A question is asked and then each player votes for a person to win by placing a certain color card in a box. I recently played with my aunt, mom, grandma, sister, and boyfriend. One of the questions was "Who was the prettiest baby?" The color green - my mom - won. We began collecting the cards when my grandma said, "Please return my two green cards." She had voted for my mom and forgot about my aunt, her other daughter!
Needless to say, it got a little awkward! :) I recommend playing with a bottle of wine.

I LOVE that game as well. Good for the English/wordy geeky type. I tutor a boy in English once a week and we always play it. Great for improving vocabulary etc. Fun fun.

Very fun game... but my version is *so* outdated. The answers will be "beeper", "World Wide Web", "Denzel Washington" or "Bruce Willis". I need to upgrade to a more recent edition! xo.
We used to play this all the time when I was growing up! Haven't played it in years though. Its so hilarious. Maybe we'll have to dig through the closets and bring it out for Christmas :)

i'm in love with this game. i've had the same one since college (that's 17 years!) i like to whip my husband's behind (and whoever else's is unlucky enough to be his partner.) I think some of my friends cringe when they see me walking towards them with this box in hand.

My family and I have been playing this since FOREVER. I still love it to this day.
Funny story about it. One time we were moving and when we finally got all the boxes into the house we could her this horrible buzzing noise, coming from inside one of the 100 boxes. We later found it...it was the buzzer from Taboo.

We get quite competitive about taboo in our house. Certain people aren't allowed to be on teams together because it's far too easy. Mostly my best friend and I. She's Swedish but her English language terminology is top notch.
