My dear readers,My blog has been hacked, and someone is still messing with the blog coding. I wanted to let you know that I didn't write the "happy new year" post (which I've now deleted). If you see any posts over the next couple days that don't sound like me, they probably weren't written by me.
I'm figuring things out as quickly as I can; please hang in there with me!
Love, Joanna
P.S. Meanwhile, Toby and I traveled for 14+ hours today, including a scary emergency airplane landing in New Orleans. Acks, what a day!!
Update: Things seem to be back on track, whew! Thanks for your sweet comments!

I hope this all works out for you!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry this happened!
Keep optimistic and pick a super super hard password!
acks indeed! sending my sympathy!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry! I hate when people feel the need to do things like that. I hope you get it figured out :)
ReplyDeleteThat's horrible. There has to be a way to outsmart them.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that! What a nightmare. Get home safe!
ReplyDeleteHope you sort it out Jo - some people must have nothing better to do than be annoying! Glad to hear the emergency landing ended ok:)
ReplyDeleteI thought when I just read that new years post it sounded strange and impersonal. Sending happy thoughts your way!
ReplyDeletemaybe it's time for you to get your own self-hosted blog... it's really not that expensive. i use dreamhost. (i'm sure you can plenty of recommendations from other as well.) they'll help you transfer everything over, although if the hackers have embedded some nasty code, you might not want to do that unless someone finds the code and deletes it. my google account was hacked earlier this year and it was such a PITA! a good pw, according to my sys admin hubby, is one that starts with a series of numbers that have special meaning to you, then a series of letters, followed by another series of numbers. each series should have some kind of meaning to you so that you can easily remember it but will be random to others. good luck!
ReplyDeleteOh what a day! Your positivity and world full of supporters will block them from doing it again!
ReplyDeleteim really sorry to hear that!): cheer up and i hope the problem is solved as soon as possible! <3
ReplyDeletei am so sorry to hear about your blog being hacked! i hope it goes back to normal for you soon!!!
ReplyDeleteNCavillones, thank you so much! those are great tips. thanks for these sweet comments! i am shaking like a leaf -- i feel like someone has broken into my house or something :) xo
ReplyDeletethis is just SO creepy. WHY do people do things like this?! so unfair. i hope it all gets worked out, joanna!
ReplyDeleteyou poor thing! i'm glad you caught it early.
ReplyDeletei hope you all had a wonderful holiday... it looks like it!
i bet getting home to new york is going to be quite the contrast from palm springs. :)
glad you caught it when you did. i had my account hacked a few months ago, or atleast they tried, and google alerted me and put a block on my blog until I logged in. i'm the same way - i was SO freaked out and felt like someone was watching me!!
ReplyDeleteMy sympathies, love!
ReplyDeleteI'v never had this happen to me, but if I do I will be begging you for advice.
Good luck.

Ai
I saw the New Year's post and thought it was a little premature! Sooo sorry your blog was hacked, some people just have no respect for other people's property.
ReplyDelete(BTW, not to downplay the severity of the situation, but what a random post to make!)
i didn't even know that people hacked blogs. that is so crazy! i hope everything works out. the question is, and i'm just joking on this, perhaps this post is a hacked post? tehe. you needed a laugh in there somewhere. i hope that you had a great vacation
ReplyDeleteI do hope you can solve this asap... sorry for the bad day... I'm sure tomorrow will be better.
ReplyDeleteXo
i didn't know that people could do that! oh grief so i am going to be on the lookout for blog hackers! nothing worse than traveling in these conditions and having to deal with that. good luck and happy new year! safe travels home!
ReplyDeletemaria @mietteshoppe.com
So sorry, Jo! Hang in there - stuff like this is always SO maddening! xxx.

Joanna, so sorry to hear about the hack. I totally thought that earlier post didn't sound like you! Plus, it's not new year's so it seemed a little off. Glad you figured it out and hope everything goes better now! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh gosh! What a day, indeed. Hang in there. Sending happy thoughts. PS-emergency landing???? Super Scary! Glad you are safe.
ReplyDeletehow strange that someone would go to the trouble of hacking and then just post a lame happy new years post... you'd think they'd pull a prank and post something inappropriate or post some kind of advertisement.... so weird.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry that that happened. I don't know why people want to do things like that.
ReplyDeleteGood grief - no wonder I had a feeling about that previous new year's posting. Your readers are all intuitive and supportive, so don't worry too much and hang tight!
ReplyDeleteI saw the New Year's post and immediately thought "oh no, something happened". How terribly creepy. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering why you'd wish everyone a happy new year so early! I hope it's sorted soon and it's just so unfortunate that people take delight in doing stupid things like that. Glad you're all safe too :)
ReplyDeleteOh no! I'm so sorry! I hope it gets cleared up for you soon. That must be a worry.
ReplyDeleteYou must have felt so violated. You don't deserve that Jo!
ReplyDeleteHope it all resolves and the crazy hacker get his or her come-uppance as my mother would say. Sending love!
xo
So sorry . Just wondering why someone who is obviously bored with lige, don't think about doing something productive , volunteer work etc. Sad that people like this exists... Glad that you guys arrived safely!
ReplyDeleteI thought that new year's post was so unlike your taste for design! I wish you the best and thanks for sharing such a lovely blog with us :)
ReplyDeleteeeek that's horrible!
ReplyDeleteA few months ago I had 'people' using my name to leave comments on other blogs! so disturbed by it!
Glad you guys are safe from the scary landing!!
~hugs*
First and foremostly, glad to hear you both made it home safe. When I saw the Happy New Year's post, the first thing I thought was "I wonder why she hasn't credited the photo? She always does that!"
ReplyDeleteThis is weird.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear it.
Hope it works out well. We tune in for you... not anyone else :)
Kudos on 14+ hours of travel with a young one. Holiday travel is hard enough without an infant!
I knew there was something weird about that post. It had a spelling error, was 3 days early, and there was no photo credit. Definitely not you!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're okay, and hope you get things sorted out quickly.
I saw that post and thought it didn't sound quite like your usual cheery, sweet self. Why the heck would someone want to do that? Hope you're all home safe now. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteUGH! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteKristin
oh no! I hope you get things straightened out without any hassle!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness!
ReplyDeleteHow horrid! So sorry! Wishing you and little Toby safe travels, and hope the rest of your week is much better...
ReplyDeleteOh geez, that's awful. What a crazy couple of days you've had. I am glad you guys are okay. Let's leave emergency landings and blog hackings in 2010.
ReplyDeleteThat's terrible.I'm so sorry this happened (and while you're dealing with 14+ hours of travel on top of it.) Unfortunately, there are some really lousy people out there who have nothing better to do.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can sort things out. Much luck sent your way!

Does the hacker think he/she will magically become a star blogger? Scary! I don't understand these things.
ReplyDeleteOMG! hackers are crazy! hope you, Alex and Toby made it home safely!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you've had a scary day! I hope you get the blog hacking situation figured out soon, and I'm glad the emergency landing ended up being OK. My aunt and uncle had to deal with an emergency landing while flying with 7 month old twins while on their way to Spain a few years ago, and I know how freaked out they were!
ReplyDeleteTake care!
-Erica
Sending positive vibes your way! Sounds like a rough day :(
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Nadia
Oh my goodness - so sorry to hear about your blog being hacked! So sad!!
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
B
i am so sorry!!!!! People can be so selfish and mean. You will get through this. :)
ReplyDeletePoor you! I did think that post wasnt up to your usual standard!
ReplyDeleteBah humbug, hacker! So weird, I thought the post was a little off. Glad you're all back safely!
ReplyDeleteso sorry to hear about the day you've been having...sounds awful! try not to worry too much...i'm sure everything will be fixed in no time!
ReplyDeleteThat is so weird! Why would someone do that? I don't get it. So glad you got back to NYC safely, however.
ReplyDeleteoh, joanna, that's awful! i'm sorry you have to deal with this :(
ReplyDeleteWhat's really odd is the vintage Happy New Year card design was kind of charming. But it seemed odd you'd post such a terse post.
ReplyDeleteabout a week ago i flew from charlotte to tampa, and after being in the air for about 45 minutes the pilot came on and said "ummm...we've had partial hydraulic failure so we're turning around to go back to charlotte"!!!! and there were fire trucks waiting for us when we landed!!! i know how scary that can be...
ReplyDeleteThat is terrible Joanna, I don't understand why anyone does these things, and scary too that I responded to it! Let me know what you find out...

Ugh - that is awful! What is wrong with people? I didn't think that post sounded like you...
ReplyDeleteAnd 14 hours of travel + and emergency plane landing? You poor thing! What a rough day. :(
Those hackers have terrible grammar, that's how I spotted it. Hope you're recovering from the hack/scary plane emergency.
ReplyDeletei didn't think that post sounded like you. sorry about your hacker and your terrible plane ride.

ReplyDeleteI was kind of like, wow that's pretty ugly and so not her style...funny!
ReplyDeletethat is so bizarre - y would someone do that xxxx
ReplyDeleteI was WONDERING! It seemed a bit EARLY. It made me panic (slight exaggeration) and double-check my calendar (the truth)
ReplyDelete:)
I am so sorry this happened to you. That's horrible!! I must admit, when I read that post, I said to myself that it doesn't sound like your usual witty, sparkling self. So I just assumed your post was rushed because you were traveling.
ReplyDeleteI knew it wasn't you! But, what's the point of posting in someone else's blog?? Besos
ReplyDeleteHope everything will be fixed!
ReplyDeleteI love this blog and I love the things YOU write!
kisses from Brazil!
How creepy!
ReplyDeleteoh no!
ReplyDeletedidn't realize these things could happen... hope you get back on track...emergency landing (eeps! that's pretty scary)...

ReplyDeleteoh my gosh i knew that wasn't you! glad you're home safe now!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear all that, but glad to hear you made it home in one piece!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you had such a rough day! I thought that post didn't look like you... I'm glad y'all are home safe!
ReplyDeleteThis scares me because they were obviously trying to sound like you. Crazy! Is this what happens to famous people? Ps... you are way famous.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry! Some people are just jerks. I hope everything gets back on track and I'm glad you and Toby made it safely!
ReplyDeleteUgh! Sounds like you need a cozy chair and a steaming mug of hot chocolate, pronto!
ReplyDeleteHope that everything gets sorted out quickly, and that you can recover everything that jerk messed around with. Sounds like you are having quite the day. :( But at least you and Toby are safe and sound!

Creepy! Glad to hear you made it home in one piece!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen the point in hacking someone's blog. ??? What are they looking for and what is it hackers hope to gain? Good luck to you.
ReplyDeleteDi
I didn't think that sounded like you! Watching the news this morning and thinkin about your sweet family out there. Travel Mercys be with you. Bet you cant wait to be home.
ReplyDeleteaww ick! glad to read your positive spirits through the post, though. way to hang in there:)
ReplyDeleteOh my Goodness, that's terrible! Both your hacker and your emergency landing! How did Toby behave? In a couple of weeks I'm flying around the world (Toronto - New Caledonia) with my 8 month old baby and I am sooooo scared! Not sure how is going to handle 3 flights in a row!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your post I thought "That's strange.... Doesn't sound like Joanna and it's not New Years!"
ReplyDeleteSo scary about the plane ride!!!!!!
that's so upsetting and must feel really violating. i'm so sorry that happened to you and I can't even imagine why someone would do that. Like many other readers, I too felt like something was off when I read the post, and I think that's a testament to how strong your work is, and how much of who you are goes into what you write. maybe that's the silver lining?
ReplyDeleteohhh no what a bummer! I was wondering about that 'Happy New Year' post!
ReplyDeleteso sorry to hear that! Do you have an etsy account, Jo? They sent out an email last week that their account information had been hacked, so emails + passwords were out and circulating. I just discovered another account last night that I had to change, gah!
ReplyDeletehoping you get it all under control soon - and without too much hassle!
Oh dear! Sending you solutions and peace. If you find out how to protect yourself, please let us know via email or something, eek. Well safe and joyous days ahead for you I hope. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteI've been there... I have an itsy bitsy blog... but someone hacked in and deleted 1,000 posts. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteIt is one of the main reasons why I switched to wordpress... you can install all sorts of security plugins... and I know who logs into my account now -- and if they get locked out and their IP address. Someone from the UK tried to get in yesterday and got locked out.
You can give your current gmail username non-admin privleges (sp!?) and then create one that is different from your gmail that you use everyday to post... that way someone doesn't have access to your email, too.
I actucally thougth it was a bit strange that you would post about new year so soon, but because you were away... scary!
ReplyDeletehope you can sort things out soon.
at least you're home!
take care***
Natalie, that's terrible, you poor thing!!!
ReplyDeletealex, so sweet of you to say!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry, I send you all my suport.
ReplyDeletexxx
What is wrong with people!?!?!? That is so creepy...it is like some stranger writing in your personal diary. Yuck. Here is to getting it figured out quickly and re-securing the fort! xo Cat
ReplyDeleteIt's beyond creepy. I'm having visits from the grossest websites & I can't get it to stop. So I've stopped posting on one blog.
ReplyDeleteI knew it wasn't you & wrote a quick email that it was misspelled & "off" but not sure you saw it.
You really might have to go to another server. Anyway, I'm glad you guys are all right after the unplanned landing.
xoxo
Hope you will get it all sorted and find a way to super protect yourself. Some people can be creeps!!!
ReplyDeletei just read!!! i'm glad everyone it's ok!!! and hope you make work everything !!!
ReplyDeleteYou have my sympathies. Pick a really really really hard password that no one but you could guess.
ReplyDeleteThat plane ride sounds scary- glad it worked out okay.

Not to worry! We are not going any where! :) Hope everything turns out for the best!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry this happened to you! I'm a new follower---Morgan from Little Hen House sent me over because I was looking for cards for #Blissdom.
ReplyDeleteHope you get everything with the hacker sorted out soon!
p.s. I'm from New Orleans and just returned from there on Monday. Did you at least grab some NOLA food at the airport?
That is awful! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteOh my! I'm new to blogging but just the thought of someone doing that to mine (let alone your wonderful, professional, established blog) is so creepy. I hope you get it all sorted out quickly and that no irreversible damage has been done! Hang in there! I'm happy to hear you guys finally made it home safely!
ReplyDeletei thought the "new year" post seemed odd for cup of jo, just sounded so impersonal. glad to know it wasn't you! hope things work out.
ReplyDeleteThis is terrible! I really don't get what's wrong with people. My email recently got hacked. Just have to continue to change passwords on a regular basis I suppose.
ReplyDeleteJoanna, it looks like your blog is under control again. There was some weird advertising before and now is "clean" again.
ReplyDeleteI wish you luck. Who does that?
Cheers,
Tanara.
i know, the whole thing was so odd! thank you so much for your lovely comments :) so glad to know you guys had my back!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's terrible! Good luck getting everything sorted out!
ReplyDeleteThat's horrible. And good pic of you, by the way!
ReplyDeleteblahhhh! why is the internet such a terrible place sometimes?!
ReplyDeletei'm glad everything is back to normal!
I'm glad your flight landed safely! I've never had an emergency landing but with my existing fear, I think I would have lost it. Good for you for holding it down and staying calm!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful, beautiful picture!
ReplyDeleteDear Terrible No Good Day of Joanna's:
ReplyDeleteI understand that you had to come, but please go away now.
Love, One of Joanna's loyal readers!

Oh, I so feel for you; I know exactly how it feels. I have (had?) a photoblog that was hacked a few years ago, and in some nasty way the link between my photo uploads and the site were severed totally, so that not a single photo remained. Years of heart and soul was suddenly stripped of its visuals (the words were still there) and fixing it was so daunting that I gave up halfway through, only reinstating the images from fall-2005 onwards. My hosting company (hostrocket)were a huge, patient help, but the whole episode left me feeling exposed and slightly violated...I am wishing you strength and solutions - and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteIt's just unspeakably rude that someone would hack your blog. I'm so sorry that happened! Thank you for continuing to blog -- your site is lovely. :) I second Lynn's hope for you of "strength and solutions" (well said, Lynn!) in the new year.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear that. I hope you solve the problem. I love reading your blog. My best wishes for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteew, so scary! and the emergency landing sounds intense! especially with a baby?!
ReplyDeletethat's.... unsettling. Strange that someone would hack your blog only to post something as innocuous as a new years card. It'd would almost seem less creepy if it was something that was clearly spam.
ReplyDeleteThat is awful!! : ( hang in there.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, so sorry to hear that. hope you get it sorted out soon. (LOVE your blog, btw).
ReplyDeleteThat's so messed up! A few years back, I had someone create a fake yahoo personals profile with MY PHOTO!
ReplyDeleteGuys were contacting me on myspace that were talking to "me" on yahoo personals! It was so weird.
Then a few days ago, i found a fake profile of me on facebook!? They used my photo and started adding all my friends.
I've had a couple other things like that happen. So irritating! Cant do anything about it. :-/
I'm so sorry to hear about the hacking. Please remember you bring much pleasure and delight to people through your blog.
ReplyDeleteApplication of Sewage North Face Womens Jackets for Purposes of Irrigation In our Report on the Thames,(pages 12 to 15,) we have described at some length the modes of sewage irrigation as practised at Croydon, Norwood, Worthing, G star raw Carlisle, and Edinburgh; we have little to add to this account other than that experience confirms the practice of this mode of disposing of sewage. In the course of our inquiry we have received evidence as to its advantage. At this time, April 18th, there are crops of Italian rye-grass at Worthing grown under sewage irrigation, which are being cut at the rate of from five to eight tons to the acre, whilst adjoining pasture-lands are almost bare. A small dairy has been established, the cows being stall-fed on the cut grass; the milk produced, from its richness and superior quality, G star jeans commanding a preference in the town. A sewage farm requires special and peculiar management; the operations should be specially adapted to this mode of culture, and then it will be found that any land may be improved. The operations do not turn clay lands into swamps, although 60 inches in depth of sewage are added by irrigation to the rainfall. The dressings with sewage must be even and at regulated intervals. In all cases sewage should be used fresh, that is before putrescence has set in, so as to Skechers Coupons prevent any effluvium arising from the irrigated land. Where this is the case there cannot be any just grounds for complaint. Where clay lands are irrigated, and the contour of the land will admit of the operation, a second and even a third use of the water may be made with advantage.Sewage irrigation works cannot be too simple in their character; the application should be by surface carriers, not by underground piping and hose and jet. Land which has been worked in ridge and furrow will require levelling, that is the soil should be stripped or the ground be broken up so as to bring the surface even. Main carriers should be laid in nearly level lines so as to Shape Ups Reviews command the area below, and secondary carriers at from half a chain to one chain apart should contour the entire surface. The main carriers may be covered in, having valves or sluice-boards of an inexpensive and simple kind to retain and let out sewage as required. The main carriers will be of brick or of earthenware pipes in size proportioned to the volume of sewage to be distributed. Conduits below 18 inches in North Face Outlet Sale diameter may be made most cheaply of earthenware pipes : brickwork may be cheaper for conduits of larger cross-sections. Small carriers may be formed with common agricultural tiles, but jointed and laid only three parts in the soil, so that one tile or more than one tile can be removed temporarily at any point to allow of surface overflowing at such points when the tiles are removed for this purpose.
