Have a fun weekend!

My darlings, what are your plans for the weekend? Alex, Toby and I are heading to California tonight! (It will be Toby's first plane ride, eeps! Wish us luck!) We'll be staying in L.A. for a few days, just the three of us. Then we're meeting Alex's family in Palm Springs, where his brother is getting married! They're having a Buddhist ceremony, which I'm excited to see. What are your plans for the holidays? Are you heading home or elsewhere? Have a wonderful weekend, and meanwhile, here are a few fun posts from around the web... xoxo

LOVE this vintage wool bag.

Salad + pizza = salad pizza. YUM.

No way! Patrick Dempsey was on the cover of a J. Crew catalog!

Beautiful tie-the-knot engagement ring.

How adorable that she wore her glasses.

Crikey. I will never, ever do this.

Winter street style.

Isn't this dress pretty? It looks like it's painted.

Cool business cards.

The Hovey sisters just went to Paris! Here are their fab photos.

Surprisingly touching.

Don't you secretly want to try this sip n' swirl straw yourself? :)

And for your last-minute holiday gifts...
The complete Cup-of-Jo Gift Guide from the past four years.

P.S. I've scheduled a few fun posts next week, so feel feel to check back if you're in a blog-reading mood. Have a great weekend. xoxo

I love that screen shot from The Royal Tenenbaums :) What a wonderful list you've compiled. I wish you safe travels to California, my husband and I are making the trip from Mississippi to the edge of west Texas in just a few days!

So funny...salad pizza is SUCH a New York staple. But nobody here in Cali knows what it is! For shame.

Safe (and fun) trip!

I bought that crazy straw for my boyfriend on his birthday (and took him to a brewery to test it out)!

Wish you luck on the plane ride. I'm sure it will be fine:-)

I'm lucky to live 5 minutes from my parents and 10 minutes from my sister and her family, so I'm staying home as well as going home (to my parents) to celebrate Christmas with my family:-)

Love the bride with glasses - not sure I would be brave enough myself.

Does it say something about me that I didn't just secretly wanted to try the sip 'n swirl straw, but actually did?:-D

Have a wonderful weekend Joanna

Wow. I'm not sure what they're doing on that mountain but looks d*mn scary!

Where are you staying in LA?

It's pouring this weekend (and apparently all next week) but I'm sure you'll still have a lovely time.

Target sells those drinking glasses for $5. They're in the men's clothing section on the 'gift ideas' racks. I bought one for my hubby. You really have to suck hard to get the liquid through the whole tube (sorry, that sounds terrible). He got a major case of burps from all the air.

Notes from Holly St. said...

how fun! Toby's first plane ride?? Let us know how it goes!

I wish LA had better weather for you this weekend. It's going to be a wet one..which is rare. But LA rain is nothing compared to other parts of the country. Have fun and enjoy!

Yay I have somethings to read on the weekend breaks from christmas shopping ( yes, I'm shopping last minute:(( ).

Jeannie said...

joanna, i would love to see a 'gift guide for yourself!' you know, all the things that you wanted all year but don't bother because you're too busy to think about etc.
one of the first on my list is a pair of those wolford wool tights. now that it's cold i'm really wishing i picked these up for myself! oh the list could go on and on... ;)

Good luck for the first plane ride...The trick is to breastfeed during take off and landing. Keeps their little ears from popping and helps them stay calm.

I was just talking to friends about those sip 'n' swirl straw, and we couldn't imagine they'd still be around or even what to Google to find out! Serendipitous timing - now I have some friends who will be getting these in their stockings!

Super -sounds like fun! My parents have just arrived, from Kuwait, to visit me for the first time in Uganda- we are off on safari on Sunday, so will be spotting lions on Christmas day. So excited!

My girl is two and has 8 stamps in her passport. Trick to traveling with babies: time his feeding so he eats as you're taking off and as you're landing.
You probably know this, but it will save his little ears some discomfort (and probably yours too).
Have fun!

Second the advice for a feed going up and down it works a treat. Also try for a window seat if you can - I use it to prop my arm when bub falls asleep - because sheez those little bundles get heavy when they have been sleeping in your arms for an hour. My little guy has been on 5 plane rides already (his grandparents live far away) - he love the "loud man" (the pilot announcements) and laughs and laughs every time as if to say "where is that guy mum?" Love it - so cute. And love your blog - please stop in to visit mine http://kith-and-kins.blogspot.com/. xx Emma

Have an awesome time! It's raining here so bring an umbrella!

A Buddhist ceremony? Oh man, buckle up for a lot of chanting! I grew up in that religion and never really knew what was going on.

Your weekend sounds exciting. I'm going to go to the gym and pool on Saturday and take it easy for the rest of the day. On Sunday, I'm planning to take a yoga class in St. Marks with some friends and do some thrift shopping afterwards.

Congrats to Alex's brother! My whole family and I are buddhist, but sadly I've never been to a buddhist wedding and don't know much about what goes on in one. I would like one if I ever get married.

Please write about it?
