Dressing in heels

One of my New Year's Resolutions is to dress up a little more. For example, even just adding a pair of black heels to a regular outfit makes such a difference. Here, Susan Cernek looks so pretty. (And I love this Urban Outfitters pair.)

Are you making any New Year's Resolutions?

I totally agree that a pair of nice heel shoes can take an outfit from dull to fabulous. Ditto for jewelery.

Happy New Year!

my heel collection has become quite large throughout the years but the thing is, i NEVER wear them. in fact, two weeks ago was the first time i've worn heels in almost a YEAR! shameful. i even had to do a quick walk up and down the hall to remind myself how to walk in them.

i was good to go.. until i had to wander the streets of cambridge for over an hour due to overbooked restaurants. i've never had brits look so strangely at a person before. *note to self* always carry a pair of flats as a backup plan.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

i am going to dress for french. and not just throw on leggings and a sweatshirt even to run to the market. because french women wouldn't be caught dead in workout clothes at the market!

Vanessa said...

What a cute outfit. Simple, but the heels just add that much more!

My New Year's resolution is to wear more dresses.

I'm adding heels to my list. I never wear them.

mine is similar joanna - to live up to the fabulously dressed italian women around me (think all of the girls on the sartorialist)! it won't be easy but it will definitely be fun to be fancy for a change!

One of mine last year was to dress up more too (wear heels, makeup, etc) and it worked. I don't like leaving the house without either now! I just posted my own list, which includes reading the classics, cooking a challenging recipe once a month, completing a half marathon and to stop blowing off the doctor!

WHOA, gf! Those heels are 4.5"!!! You're starting out big! haha, I can't wear heels well (Although I think they're beautiful), so I thought it funny that you want to start out with all that height! Go big or go home! xo

I just bought a pair of black heels last night and you've totally inspired me to wear it with more things (rather than a black dress.) But, I also love that you are a tee shirts and jeans kind of gal. There's something very New York about that.

You looks so nice! Maybe a little scarf will give you a stunning look.

I think I'm going to take on the challenge you posted about as one of my new years resolutions, am going to try to not complain! I also want to let my hair down more often (literally...need to stop with the ponytails).

I always say the same thing! I'm going to buy/wear clothes that make me feel fabulous without caring what others think! I'm a bulldozer when it comes to clearing out my apartment and throw/donate things left and right. It is time I get rid of some of those boring pieces!

i am in the same t-shirt and jeans boat. along with never wearing my hair down for fear of it getting ripped out by tiny hands.

i wore a low pair of heels the other day to help dress up my outfit and i was so awkward in them.

i forgot how to walk in heels!

so i think i will add that to my NYR list.

happy new year!

I want to develop a better sense of what's truly important in life. As a teacher, I find myself absorbed in other people's children that I tend to forget about making myself and my husband happy. Here's to more evenings with more cups of tea and knitting and the warm company of my lovely man. Cheers!

I like resolutions like this one, that aren't too huge. Truthfully, little things like this are the things that change lives, rather than wildly ambitious ones that are so exhausting that we give them up two weeks in. Today, I made affirmations to hang throughout my home, reminding me to believe in me! And I also enjoyed Glamour.com's "3 Healthy New Year's Resolutions You Can Actually Keep This Year!": Choose happiness, make exercise non-negotiable and stop sweating the small stuff. I need to learn how to dress with jeans for the New Year.

Dressing up is always a great resolution to have. Lots can make you happy, but a lot can be said of elevating your mood by enhancing your look. It immediately gives me a pick up, because then I have to carry myself taller, with more grace and poise. And, how can you be angry or sad when you wear a beautiful lip color and a great pair of shoes? You can't! (Unless life is absolutely shitty...)

Great resolution.

I heard of your blog through a couple of great bloggers, and I resolve to read more inspirational blogs instead of only fashion blogs, in 2011.

So far, so good.

:)

Funny. My four year old directed me (from under my covers) to wear heels today. With my 7am standard jeans & long sleeve black t-shirt. I paused because it actually didn't sound like a bad idea (although I NEVER wear heels) except that it was 32 degrees and I was simply on my way to drop two kids at school and walk the dog. But dressing up more does sound like a lovely resolution...
