Saturday morning

Toby had a bit of a tummyache on Saturday, so we spent the morning lounging around. It was really fun to lie around doing nothing except playing with his bird toy and giving raspberries.
P.S. You know when you were a little kid and your parents were your safe haven? It's strange/amazing to be that for someone now. Sometime I think, wait, I can't be a mom, I'm just a random person, I don't know all the answers! But I guess our moms were the same way? I still sort of think my mom knows everything.

Those rosy cheeks! What a little prince you have, Jo. xo
Oh my goodness he is the sweetest thing! What a handsome little man :)
Awww little poor cutie...I am so glad he is feeling better by now:)..I totally think that my mom knows it all..I think its a security blanket to know that there is that one person who has your back at all times.
Your Toby has the most adorable eyes:)Awww
Kisses
Toby is all kinds of cute!!!
Are you telling me that when you have a baby, you aren't just given a handbook that has all the answers to everything??
I definitely still sort of think my mom has all the answers.
i know, abbie!!! they should sell that. :)
Oh my gosh, his cheeks are so pink. He's adorable, Joanna!
He does sick very well. I can't imagine looking so cute...
Beautiful pics, Joanna!
Wow! Especially in that second picture, he realllly looks like you. What a doll!
What a cutie! Haha I think my mom knows everything too.
OMG! he's adorable. oh so handsome!
motherhood = on the job training ;D
I HOPE EVERYTHING IS OK AGAIN
he's just so juicy. want to eat his little roll.
i agree about having all the answers. it's a bit daunting actually, especially when they get to an age where you can't really solve all their problems anymore... have to watch how they work thinks out for themselves and see how they do (and see how i've done as a parent so far...)
xo
eat his little rolls! the ones on his arms and legs. hope that was clear! LOL!
I feel the same way!! Sometimes I look in the mirror and I still see a ten year old, and I think to myself, holy shit! I'm responsible for another person's life! So scary and exciting. :]
So cute. He's getting so big! I'm not a mom yet, but my friends say this all the time. How did they get to be the 'mother'. It is funny because when you're a kid you don't really think about all the things your parents were thinking - their insecurities or unknowing. But its all right. Even without all the answers, all you really need is love :) And I know you have that.
Be still my ovaries! He's so cute. :)
I have never seen more perfect EYEBROWS! What a cutie!
oh my goodness... he has such good eyebrows. usually little ones just have some blonde wisps, but his are quite pronounced. adorable!
I can't look at Toby without smiling.
I hope his tummy feels better!
I can't wait for this. On to our 18 month of trying and all I can do is dream of this moment.
What a lovely post and a beautiful family you have.
xoxo
Oh my goodness, he is looking more and more like his mama! Don't you think?
So sweet! I recently came across an old Glamour post about the 1000 or so things to teach your son. I thought... oh my goodness! Now Joanna can totally do all this. So exciting!
sweet, your little baby's eyebrows are adorable! so cute!
So cute! I am hoping he feels better now...

I know exactly what you mean! I have a 20 month old and sometimes I'm caught off guard by how he looks at me, wish such adoration and trust. And it will hit me the same way it has one million times. I'm a mom!! Hope Toby feels better :)

He is just so precious!! Awww poor lil thing had a tummy ache. He is sooo cute!!
Melanie's Randomness
Wait, are you telling me my Mom doesn't have all the answers?! That's alarming...
p.s. Toby is SO scrumptious! Hope he's feeling better now. Poor little guy.
Awww, Toby has to be the cutest little munchkin ever, those eyebrows? gah! I'm glad he's feeling better
He looks very like you! Such a little cutie.
These kinds of posts make me want to be a Mummy!!
If someone wrote a handbook it would be an instant best seller! There are so many things I second guess myself on as a mom because I want do things right and raise the best little person I can.
The Cheeky Cafe
What a little sweet pea he is...those moments must be heaven. I think about that, how will I know what to do? I suppose you just go with it, and learn as you go...what fun, I can't wait!
Julie xo
Hope your little guy is feeling better... What you've said is so true, I do also feel like my parents know everything and I can't believe either that O will hopefully feel the same way about his father and I. It's scary and empowering at the same time. Don't you feel you understand your parents much more now that you have a baby ? xx
he is the cutest :)
Moms are superheroes!
Wow! He looks so much like you! Does he resemble any of his grandparents? I'm getting increasingly obsessed with genealogy and I would love my future children to look like my Dad.

omg, I take back what I said on friday...he's all you in these photos!
love those eyebrows! yeah. mom's know everything! (at least my mom does... haha)
Such a sweet little man!
The idea I could be someone's everything makes my head spin! Perhaps I need a few more years to make the spinning stop hehe
Does that mean that I will learn all I need to know in the next 5 weeks?
Dear God, I hope so!
What a happy Saturday, despite the tummy aches!
These photos are beautiful -- a happy family relaxing together! :)
He's just precious! I'll be a mommy in just a few months, and I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around being someone's comfort and safe haven. Too surreal!
my god, joanna, he is SO FREAKING CUTE!
I've just started thinking about that myself...the realization that "adults" and moms don't know every answer...though I still view them that way :)
Toby is SO cute!! Those little rosy cheeks!!
Glad he's feeling better :D
OH MY GOD!!! he's just like you!!
amazing!! and what a lovely post about motherhood...
xo,
paz
ps: beign following your blog for a while now, i love it!!
Toby has the most awesome eyebrows!
So adorable! xx
we call them "mom powers". my mom has such powerful powers that she still has grown-up neighbors that come and ask her for help with this and that and the other thing. i hope i can be that amazing someday.
Same with me about being that for someone else. I mean I still ask my mom questions because SHE DOES know everything haha. Such cute photos.
i say that all the time, especially looking at my bank account.
Eek, Toby is ridiculously cute!
Also, it's really good to know that the mom-superpowers-of-healing happen, even when you assume you don't know everything and are just a normal person.
Of course you don´t have all the answers!! but you have some.... he looks just like you!
Your Toby is growing so fast!! He's so handsome.
Sometimes I wonder if I would be a good mother when the time comes, but considering the idea from your perspective sounds just perfect to me.
Toby's look in that first photo is incredible. What a lady killer! I love his mon trésor bodysuit as well.
Lovely thoughts on motherhood, Joanna (which I share). Bises xx
Hi Joanna,
I love this post! My little girl Mia is only a couple of weeks younger than Toby (born on the 11th June) and my favourite thing is when she wakes up in the morning, or from her nap, and smiles the HUGEST smile when she catches sight of me - it takes my breath away that I can make her happy simply by just being there.
I've only been reading your blog for a couple of weeks and it's already my favourite! I love reading about your mummyhood as I discover mine at almost exactly the same stage!
Love Jenny x
He is sooo big!!! congratulations you have a gorgeous baby!!!
The second photo of Toby looks a lot like you!
Aww!
My mum definitely knows everything...like EVERYTHING!! Mum stuff, y'know? It scares me that I will have to know everything when I'm a mum! I saw those photos and thought that can't be Toby, that's a giant baby! He is getting big.
he looks so much like you! such a cutie, love his eyebrows :)
thanks for these sweet comments!!!
ahhh that first picture especially just kills me!!! what a little babe!!
wow! Toby really does have perfect eyebrows.
i'm a new mommy, too. it bewilders me sometimes. in my head i still feel like a bit of a kid myself and i'm constantly hoping i'm doing all the right things for this sweet baby girl.
your son is such a cutie :)
Oh my goodness. He is adorable.
And while I'm only 19, I know exactly what you mean. My Mum is a midwife, so I feel like she knows everything, and then some!! I guess it just means I will be super lucky to have her around when I am a Mum myself. :)
X
He is just too cute :)

I just want to pinch those chubby cheeks!! so cute.
and your P.S. is about the sweetest thing ever!
I see so much of you in him! Thanks for sharing these pictures!
Oh my gosh, the eyebrows! He's so sweet. My son has almost no eyebrows, even at 15 months old.
Very recently while he was cuddling with me in my lap, I had the exact same thought - "Doing this with my mum was always the safest, best thing in the world. And now I'm somebody's haven."
I think it feels strange because I have my mum, and she's, you know, The One? The all-knowing, ever-calming presence. It's like I can't possibly be The One for someone else.
But being his Mum with a capital M is a pretty nice feeling. :)
ah, saturday mornings like this are what make the whole week so lovely.
and especially with that cute baby, toby you are so cute!
awwww, he's too cute!!
Saw this and thought of you! Amen to the breastfeeding mama's out there!

you will know almost all the answers and be a wonderful safe haven for Toby. xoxoxox
My mom literally DOES know everything. Really. b
I LUV him.. Just adorable!!! Thanks for sharing the sunshine :o)
Its crazy how the natural instincts in us just come out at the perfect timing such as motherhood. your doing a great job as a mommy!
SO true, I know exactly what you mean! And can I just say that I think Toby and our little Sammy might just be the two cutest boys in the world!! Hope they get to meet someday... ;)
oh my goodness! those eyebrows! and i think my mom knows everything too.... :)
Look how big he is getting! So cute.
I know what you mean about parents, it is hard to think of them as just regular people too.
aww, sweet Toby! I feel the same way with Coco.. it's kind of amazing that in their little eyes we're the only people that know everything and can make everything better!
Toby is such a lucky boy
He looks juuuust like the perfect combination of you and Alex! That's crazy! Sooooo cute!
Your baby is so cute! thanks for sharing his pictures.
Toby is so cute. I love how it always seems like you're having so much fun together. And YES, I feel the same way about my relationship with Milo who is now 14 weeks old. I can't wait to properly feel like a mum. Although I'm 39 I still feel too young for the job. HA!
He has the cutest baby nose I've ever seen! So rosy!
seriously...
the cutest thing!
i love your PS - moms are just, well... amazing!

I think Toby is one of the cutest babies I've ever seen. He's up there with Mason Kardashian.
WOW! He has gotten so big now!!! Before eh know it, he will be a toddler and walking around!
oh my gosh Toby...insanely cute. seriously
Joanna,
Could he be any cuter? I don't think so. Here is my theory about moms. You don't instantly know everything when you become a mom, but you DO instantly know everything about your children. My mom is always right. Always. I think there is some sort of metaphysical connection. Don't worry--you have it too.
xoxo
Emily
I wanted to tell you how adorable your baby is...but it looks like about 90 people already beat me to it! Seriously, he is a bundle of cute.
Toby looks more and more like you both every day! Your beautiful family is certainly something to be thankful for. Wishing you all the best.
hey Joanna, i love your blog, your thoughts, pics of your little cute Toby, and i sometimes feel like i just love YOU :-D
thanks for this post, it made me cry, because it´s so true!! i love my mum, she´s just the best and of course she knows everything!!!
God bless you:-)
OMG I am absolutely in love with your baby! So sweet!
Toby already looks so much like his mom and dad! Isn't it amazing that someone so young can show such similar traits to his parents?

Oh my gosh he has grown so much since I last tuned in! What a glorious, adorable little thing!
Aw he is gorgeous, I have a 3 month old and sometimes I stop and think "I can't believe everyone is trusting me with a baby!"
It's crazy to think that they'll put that trust in us unquestioningly like we did in our parents... my Mum always seemed like a proper adult, I feel like an overgrown kid!

adorable!! It's so funny -- I was lying in bed with Alex this morning thinking the same thing about being a mom and how safe I felt in bed with my mom/how safe Alex must feel with me.
If your baby loves to play with cuddly toys then they'll be really pleased about a pillow pets jolly giraffe . These toys provide plenty of play and are really cute. Children need to play because this helps them to learn and progress. Health experts encourage parents to interact and play with their children. Encourage your child to be creative and explore painting and colouring. Children love making a mess with paint and other creative toys.
