My friends Mike and Emma shared photos of their Brooklyn brownstone on Design*Sponge this week, and it's as quirky and fun as they are. The coolest part? They have an actual Alex Katz painting in their living room. They found it on eBay for a deal, since it had a small tear in the corner. ("I could care less," Emma says.) Incredible. And on their perfect paint color: "When we bought the house, the walls were orange—sherbet orange—it was very Santa Fe," says Emma. "We knew we had to get rid of the orange. We spent a lot of time thinking about blues and greys, and this is Wedgewood Blue."
P.S. Their awesome Manhattan wedding.

Wait, can we just take a minute to talk about the ALEX KATZ painting from EBAY? Does Alex Katz know this? Must go down as the best Ebay purchase of all time. Amazing. Well done, you two! (And well done Joanna for mentioning it!)

ReplyDeletei saw this on design sponge and was loving the molding in their living room! envious over here...
ReplyDeleteoooh what a cool, calm blue.

xo.
I adore it. And I love their paint color choices.
ReplyDeletethat really is the perfect wall color!
ReplyDeletestunning! just love the rug!
ReplyDeleteI have been all about decor recently...and I love the color of their walls and the molding. Also, great painting...it's amazing what you can find on ebay!
ReplyDeleteI loved this living room when I saw it on d*s! On my monitor, though, the walls look more the ever-so-pale seagrass green that I have been coveting for ages, and which I finally found: Pearl Colour at The Little Greene. Given that my sofa is also tufted charcoal, I am now confident that it will all work well together. :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful home - don't think there is a single thing that I don't LOVE!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with the wall color! So perfect! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteKate
Can't believe that an Alex Katz painting was auctioned on ebay.

Are you sure that's an actual Alex Katz painting? That's a very well known portrait of the poet Kenneth Koch, and sold as lithographic copies. It seems EXTREMELY unlikely that the original painting would be on eBay for a "steal" because of a torn corner. (Actually, I don't believe it was even originally a "painting" and the original seems to be owned by a gallery.
