Hanging children's art
I'm not sure if this adorable elephant was actually drawn by a kid (the cheeky eyes make me think a grown-up was involved), but I love the idea of framing kids' artwork. I'm so excited for Toby to start drawing!
P.S. Also, natural art supplies.

That space is so cute and cozy! :)
Looks great and I always love bookshelfs with books covered looking all the same. I tried it ones and you never find a book anymore, so it was no good idea for me! ;)
i agree! kids art is way more genuine! love the elephant. :)
I think that kid's art is a nice touch to a room. Jake is about to turn 2 in a couple of months. He has already started scribbling. I can't wait to post his artwork around the house and send out his art as cards to relatives.
That elephant picture is amazing!
framed artwork from kids is so charming! :)
I think that displaying kids art is the best. My friend gets a whole folder from kindergarten each Friday full of her son's art work and they both decide which pieces to display around the house:)
They rotate the art-work each week:) Its so sweet. Each time I visit Dominic shows me off all his treasures and you should see his face! He is so proud of it! I love it!
My favorite piece in my apartment is a series of 4 hearts drawn by my 7-year-old nephew. That kid is the next Andy Warhol. There's something so charming about framing kids' artwork, and they feel like superstars when they see it on the wall.
I'm going to guess that was the work of an adult :) I have a few pieces from my niece on our fridge, and I can't wait for our own little ones to start drawing tiny masterpieces.
Cute photo! I love it how my parents kept a lot of my childhood artworks :) I love looking back at things I drew so I really appreciate they did that♥ Definitely something I'll for my future kids!

cute cute cute!
Love the space. All those white books freak me out though. I guess I love some color splashes here and there. But never the less cute and cozy.

Natural art supplies? Brilliant! Thanks Joanna!!
Back in the day, I was a school teacher and would hang the children's artwork with a clothes pins. I always thought if I have children I'll hang their art work up like that. That elephant is sweet.
Taking notes... I just love that idea as well...It makes the child feel so special to see their artwork in a nice frame on the wall!
So sweet! Perhaps I'm being too cynical, but this post also reminded me of the website "I Am Better Than Your Kids" which the author wrote about his co-workers putting up their children's art work at work. He basically looks at all the paintings and critiques them as if he were an art critic. Hilarious!

What a great way to make a child feel special! When I was 12, my mom took one of my drawings of a queen and turned it into children's t shirts to sell at her tea room... it felt so special to see how much people loved them and to see other children wearing my drawing! I am now 25 years old and a Children's Clothing designer in Charleston, SC... I will hang all of my children's artwork on the walls!
A very cute look! But covering all of those books just seems wrong somehow. Maybe that's the English major in me.
Joanna, I can't wait until my son (now 5 months) starts creating his own artwork, either!
Joanna, great image, very cheerful. You would not believe how much children's art we framed at the last gallery where I was Marketing Director!

That's really so adorable! Nothing beats little kid art. I know Toby will be making master pieces next week :)
I'm such an advocate of framing and hanging children's artwork..even if I don't have any children of my own yet...I love it!
Best,
Anna
Cute! A great tip for those with kids: Keep all your children's artwork in individual folders, and at the end of the month, let them pick the one or two pieces they want to hang, and that way, you don't feel so guilty not hanging it all or saving it all, and kids have more pride (for both creating AND curating it!).
I love seeing framed kids artwork. It's such a classy way to say Be Creative to your kids
I've saved everything since my daughter's first Jell-O painting when she was 2...I love kid's art. I am considering scanning them and making some sort of permanent collage. Happy weekend!

You are right, those eyes are suspicious!
when my godchild was a wee little one i had her color with me one day and she made me a piece that i still rock in my home today. people ask about it all the time. my favorite kind of art...
...what a treasure !!!
I love it too....Mila (5 years old) is very productive, almost too much and I have to edit (i.e. throw) some of her 'portfolio' :-)
But I hung several of them in her bedroom with super cute Bird Clothes pegs. You can see examples here http://bodieandfou.blogspot.com/2010/05/milas-bedroomfinally-finished.html

too cute and sweet :-)
Love that room. There is something so whimsical about children's art work! Love it!
Love that elephant!
elizabeth, i didn't even notice the white books, crazily enough! you're right! the whole room is so adorable, though :)
that's the sweetest of ideas.
that is cool! the room looks really neat too, simple and creative.
the best is to get some twine and hang up each piece with a bold clothes pin. so original and a good way to add more art once you've exhausted the wall with frames : )

I know what you mean. My husbands mom has a bunch of his painting from a child framed and I always thought that was so cool.
I love the thought of getting to do that someday. The white covered books look great too, but it would drive me absolutely crazy. What if I was looking for a specific book on my shelf? How would I ever find it?
Children's artwork is the best, so why not frame it? so much love
IM BACK! :) AND SO IS MY FREE BLOG GIVEAWAY!!! SKV6.BLOGSPOT.COM
I love framing my daughter's art work. I have a whole gallery of her work in her bedroom. really adorable!
Thanks for sharing this lovely room.

so cute! it's hard to tell if it's from a kid or an adult.. There are some kids in my mom's 3rd grade class who draw like that.
I find it strange that people would suspect an adult of being the artist. I work with kids with autism and see artwork with that kind of perceptive touch regularly!
The white books are a little intense, but I like how this set up really lets the artwork get the attention!
awh i love this, so cute! x
a few years ago I gave my then 2 year old nephew an 8x10 drawing pad and 3 8x10 frames.
My sister in law hung the frames in their family room and my nephew got to change the drawings as often as he liked.
He still does it, and asked for more frames for Christmas last year.
Love it. I've just commissioned some art from my eleven-year-old nephew!
I like to create a gallery wall for the kids to hang their art. Using magnets and sheets of metal. This way you can changes over and over.

I love kids art and my laundry room is decorated in framed kids art in all red/orange and yellow. Seems my kiddos know me pretty well as those are my favorite colors. It's so important to get it while you can because unless they turn into little artists they stop producing art for you. Mine are 16 and 12 and have tons of interests and passions, but painting and drawing are not among them.
