Downtown from behind

Downtownfrombehind features creative types (artists, models, chefs, musicians) riding their bikes around downtown New York City. The goal is to highlight those who make downtown NYC what it is today. Very cool.

(I love the dude with the flowers! He's an event planner, naturally.)

I love these, esp the girl in the skirt!! but I'm with Irene.. you;d have to be a little nuts to ride a bike in NYC w/o a helmet.

I love it! Especially the girl doing the spilts. That is amazing

Mother of Style said...

THis is a very interesting idea! I think one reason that it works so well is because it taps into that appeal of spying on someone- there backs are turned, so we check them out without them noticing that we are doing it!

ciupa said...

very New York vibe to them, thanks for the smile.

Biking is the way to go! Too bad mine got stolen yesterday...

adam.and.e said...

bike+me= wreck waiting to happen.

fortunately, i haven't wiped out on any british roads yet... sometimes when my bike confidence is extra low i cycle on the sidewalk. when people yell at me because of my "anti social" biking skills and just yell back as i'm passing, "I'M NEW HERE AND SCARED". even after being here for 7 months i'm still throwing out the new card.

... so when i see pictures like these i get really jealous at how people can be so beautiful&graceful at the same time. :D

it's hard to take pictures of people from behind and keep the person looking at them engaged with out being able to see peoples faces. This series goes above and beyond! personality is bursting!

I second all of the previous users who exclaimed 'this is nice and all, but..where are the helmets?'

maybe it's just natural selection, hard at work.

Edward said...

Please stop. Every time a picture is posted of someone on a bicycle looking normal instead of those ridiculous fluorescent yellow jackets and polystyrene hats, we get endless comments about helmets.

Some people choose to use them and some choose not to. It is up to them. If you are really serious about reducing head injuries generally, encourage helmet wearing among motorists.

anita said...

I totally ♥ed this site. Beautiful idea.

These idiots need to wear helmets! They will not be nearly as cute when they get doored and die! Wear helmets, everyone!

It is said because it works in such a perfect harmony with your body one simply doesn't want to take it off. Also power balance neoprene is important to note that wristband alone is not enough to accomplish some task.
