Daydreaming

My lovelies, our babysitter called in sick today, so Toby and I are hanging out but I wanted to say hello! Hope you have a lovely afternoon and see you tomorrow. xoxo

P.S. Five daydreamy posts for a rainy afternoon: Paris, canoeing, Iceland, the ocean, smooches.

Nice excuse to just play with Toby! :)
Beautiful photo.

I'm curious if you work at home and if so, how you pull that off with Toby there. I work at home one day a week and my girl is now two, so I pretty much have to hide from her.
Might make a good post someday.

angela, it's so, so hard for me. i'm thinking of getting an office space or something because working from home is so tough! i feel like i can't concentrate on work because i'm so distracted by toby in the other room with the babysitter. i might write a post about it just to get advice from other moms, actually! :)

your babysitter must have so much fun (when she's not sick)....playing with toby all day sounds like the best job! :)

The only way I could work from home is if my kids were not in the home. I'd get way too distracted. My mom was the one who watched our kids while I worked, and it was still not possible to be extremely productive while were both there.

Love this picture... pinning it right now:).

I try to work at home with a two year old and, well, I understand the challenges. I usually have the babysitter distract her and then I sneak into my office then can't leave or talk too loudly on the phone until they go out. Lately I've had them go out to story time at the library or playground while I work--which is much better:) Have fun today!

oh no! i'm sorry to hear! it's gloomy and gray here in DC, and i have been browsing online for inspiration, too. but at least you're stuck with toby, versus a cubicle ;)

Rainy days with Toby seem like the perfect kind of day.

PS, when's Daddy's birth story happening? I've been waiting in anticipation because I'm so curious as to a male's perspective!

Joanna- I can't tell you how much better this makes me feel! I have been reading your blog for a few years and actually had our first little one (a boy as well!) just a week after Toby. Whenever I would read your posts I was always soooo amazed how efficient you were to be able to post so much and have Toby all day. Babysitters are a Godsend (I have my own photography business and I feel ya) - thanks for letting me know you are actually human ;)

I'm a babysitter for a family of 3. When 2 of the girls are away at school, I am taking care of the newborn while the mom works from home. While she would LOVE to just be with her non-stop, I try to avoid tempting her with the baby by taking her outside, going for strolls, go going to the playroom away from the home office.

But as babies get bigger, they get more and more interesting so I can imagine the distraction that must be Toby now. He's a cutie patootie. Hope you're enjoying your sweet day today!

Hi Joanna, I love your blog and the things you post. I was looking at cute christmas cards and found one that I thought would be totally adorable for your little family on Etsy. It was too good not to show you.

Joanna,
Help! My boyfriend and I set a $10 limit for Xmas gifts. After we agreed on it, I thought, "Shoot, terrible idea. I'm a medical student with little free time and no creativity." If you come across any ideas or thoughts for a gift for this guy that I love oh so much, please share. I don't want to disappoint him during our first Christmas together.

Love that you're open about the real work it takes to keep up a blog and write and whatnot. Many blogs are a bit more obtuse about it and I find myself comparing myself to them and imagining that they are doing it all with no help! I recently had to hire someone and wondered if I just wasn't as on the ball as all these other inspiring ladies, but I have a feeling life is a lot more real on the other side of the computer screen:) However you've worked it out, it seems to be working as you, the babe and the blog all look great. Enjoy your cozy day!

Hey my dear, I hope your day turned out all right and that in between being a mum you found some time to relax. Becoming a mama is the best thing in the world but also one of the most challenging. When is "parenting for dummies" being published? bisous
