Van Gogh tilt-shift

Have you guys ever seen tilt-shift photography? By playing with depth of field, it makes real cities look like miniature models (see examples here and here). Well, Serena Malyon, an art student, used Photoshop to give the same effect to Van Gogh paintings. Aren't these beautiful? See more here.

Wow just brilliant! The last one is just mind blowing.

I made The Starry Night one in cross-stitch a few years ago and I wish it would have effects too! :)

Hmm-I think it's called depth of field, and I *think* that tilt-shift allows the focus to change throughout a given picture, so it's possible to shoot skyscrapers from the ground and have the entire building in focus.

wow -

amazing how changing that one little part makes it look like a completely different work

I love tilt shift and have experimented with it in photoshop. But to do it to paintings is just genius. Love these.

I love tilt shift!! I thought you could only really do it for cityscapes from way up high, but these are amazing!!

Amazing! I love this effect. I am going to Las Vegas soon and I want to play with is effect with the photos that I take there. I think that city lends itself to that effect. I can't wait.
Now I'm really inspired.

These are beautiful! I love the last one!

So yesterday I was out shopping for Halloween costumes with my boyfriend and I saw Alex! I didn't remember his name so I said you're Joanna Goddard's husband and wished him a happy birthday b/c it looked like you guys had a wonderful celebration dinner! It's nice that NYC can feel like a small town sometimes!

Thanks for all your wonderful posts! They brighten my day! :)
Happy Friday!

that's so pretty, it reminded me of the one you posted about people who were painted on to look like classic painting. I love that!

thank you for sharing this! and, I love when you link back to your oldest posts. It's fun to read when you just got started - and inspiring to know that your aesthetic and your voice have always been uniquely you (and that's what makes Cup of Jo so special)

p.s. sorry this posted three times. The deleted comments above are a product of me being a Luddite, not someone being mean.
