Lion prints

Everyone's favorite animal photographer Sharon Montrose just did a photo shoot with a lion! Sounds terrifying to be in such close quarters (I would have died), but Sharon told me that they actually purr really loudly, which was "kinda soothing actually."

  5. I've heard that cats (including the big ones) don't purr in the wild. It must be their attempt at communication with us. They are gorgeous creatures.

@jen - You own a mountain lion?? That's SO cool. I got to play with a one-month-old mountain lion at a zoo when I was in middle school, it was pretty much the cutest thing ever. :-)

  28. My friend is part of 4H, an agricultural club here in Ontario. They were able to go to the Toronto Zoo after hours and even got to pet some of the animals! When they got to the lions, the female lion was literally just on the other side of a chain link fence. She was keeping an eye on my friends daughter and when she asked about it, the tour guide said the lioness had been eyeing her as food the whole time. Then the lion let out a loud road right in my friends face. She got some great photos though!
