Home inspiration: Towering bed

Doesn't this bed look straight out of a fairytale? Brooklyn designer Evan Haslegrave lofted his bed and draped it in sheets because he "liked the romance." (Also, he adds, "I didn’t want Jake, my dog, to jump in.")

Haha that's awesome. Not sure I could be bothered with all the effort of the heavy lifting of mattresses, but I like the romantic idea!
Glad you had a lovely weekend :)

ah! so very princess and the pea! i love the raised nightstand too! it's like having a bunk bed without a roudy bottom bunk mate (i only say that because i've had one).

very cool! Seems like it would be verry hard to get yourself out of, hard enough a normal height!

How fun would this be as pseudo bunk beds?? Like higher mattresses next to not as high. OK, whatever, it's AWESOME!

Fun! But I'd be afraid of falling out...I'm a klutz. Better things that are low to the ground.

Oh, no... I guess those days are over for me! My first thought was: that looks like the perfect illustration for co-sleeping "don'ts!"

Acacia said...

that looks fun! I like the feel of a high bed...it's like a grown up version of the bunk bed! I also like what looks like drapes hanging from the ceiling, that's a cool look too.

When I was young I would redecorate my room at least once a month. This room reminds me of my "igloo" themed room when I was about 12. I tacked white sheets to the ceiling to create..well, an igloo around my mattress. like sleeping in a cocoon. No real surprise I went on to interior design and am an art director/set dresser today!

this is SO cool! i want to do this. ;)

i do adore the romantic, drapey feel of it. although, i love just being able to throw myself on the bed with no effort on my exhausted days. i'm too lazy to walk up steps to my bed!

I love the romantic feel but i know that bed is not for me.... I usually go to the washroom once during the night and that looks like trouble getting out of when you are half asleep....

I quite like this, but I feel just the opposite of the designer. I'd be sad if my puppies couldn't be in my bed with me!

Megan Fischer said...

My first thought was "there should be a pea under there." And my second thought was "How does he change the sheets?! He can't get to half the bed because there's nothing to stand on!" I guess that's a woman thing to think. The men just loft their beds without a thought to how they'll get clean sheets on them.

Bestie said...

joanna,

this has nothing to do with that inviting bed, but i just thought (being a bachelor fan and all) that you may enjoy my photo that i posted today. :) lookie who i ran into on my sat night.

I used to do this in college bc I was supposed to have a roommate but didn't so I created what I lovingly called "monster bed" with all the mattresses.
