French wedding veil

My jaw dropped when I saw this French bride Fanny's lace veil. She looks so old-fashioned and romantic, and I love how it's wrapped under her hair. Would you go for a wedding veil?

P.S. Four more wedding veils: Vintage, birdcage, kissable and poofy.

  19. I've always dreamed of a veil like this one, especially after watching "Manon des Sources" when I was 15. In the 6 years since then I haven't wavered, so I'm pretty sure that whenever I do get married, I will be wearing a veil like this :)
Also-Thank you for putting this up! Now I can show people what I mean other than saying "go rent a VHS(!) of this weird French movie, fast-forward to the end, and tell me what you think" :) haha.

  20. Joanna, thank you for my daily dose of gorgeousness. Your blog is the BEST!

  21. I didn't wear a veil at my wedding, because there was a lot of beading on the back of my dress and I didn't want to cover it up! But I think the veil/no veil thing really depends on the dress. I think the veil works with this bride's dress though!

  22. I love her braids! Gosh what I would give to figure out how to do that to my hair!

I had a dress with quite a long train and then my veil covered the whole train...I'd always dreamed of that :)

  26. Oh I actually HAD exactly the same veil, only that I didn't wrap it :). here's a link where you can see it http://www.creamylife.com/occasions-and-holidays/7477/our-magical-wedding.html

  29. I was adamantly against a veil... until I tried one on with my dress and I fell in love. When the veil is the focal point it adds so much beauty and attention to the face. Love this one.

  35. I wore a chapel-length veil with little pearls on it that perfectly matched my dress. The dress was all tulle on the bottom, and my train and the veil kind of blended into each other, it looked cool. Although, wearing so much fabric at an outdoor wedding was a little tricky. Our photog got some great pics of my husband picking little twigs off my dress/veil. I also wore it under my bun/hair, instead of on top. I really love how it all worked together.

  41. I definitely want a veil. I am not even engaged, but I dream of my wedding almost daily. (Comes with the territory of being a girl, right?)

  42. Why do French people have to be so beautiful?! Her veil is beyond breathtaking, the groom is a stud, and I'm sure the rest of the ceremony was whimsical.

  43. I didn't have a wedding veil, but this looks so pretty and romantic.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I would definitely go for a veil if it looks like this. Otherwise a definite no!

  45. I saw that on OnceWed and i thought it had the potential to be super pretty but ended up looking more like a hair net :( The way its tied around her head isn't the most flattering, imo. I also wished there had been at least one good close up of her from the front, so we could at least see what that looks like from the other side. however i LOVE wedding veils and wore one myself in my wedding 3 months ago.

  46. Beautiful but how did it stay up? My hair is so stubborn that it would have taken too many pins to keep it up. I'll admire it from afar.

I found this ridiculously disturbing. If you jump to the link there are many photos of the wedding, and never one shot of the woman's face, but you do see the groom. A veil indeed in the most conservative and objectifying sense.

  80. Hi! I'm the lucky photographer who has photographed this wedding which was truly beautiful. Thank you all for your sweet comments! Regarding the lack of pictures of the bride's face, here's the reason why: the bride herself decided she doesn't want to have her face posted on all the internet, and I respect her choice. Please, respect her choice too. Thanks very much for the featuring, Joanna! You've totally made my day!
