According to New York Magazine, sky-high socks are the Next Big Thing. (These are my favorites.) Would you wear them?
I've worn them because I have really long legs so they get super cold! I like the gray ones. I'm definitely going to be picking up a black pair soon!
ReplyDeletein a heartbeat! especially if they came with a guarantee to stay up! i heart this outfit.
ReplyDeleteOh yes if they came to my knee! Not my thighs... hee hee too self conscious! But I love her in these. The hat is super cute also.
ReplyDeleteThis is actually a trend I would love to try. I think they look really adorable with that outfit.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you posted about the knee socks as I just got a pair yesterday...I saw them on a girl and I fell in love:)...Very cute and I am so looking forward to wearing them:)
ReplyDeleteKisses,Joanna
ps: I am hosting a lovely GIVEAWAY, so please join in:) ...I bet you will love it!!!
definitely, i love these!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love them but don't think I would wear them at 44, however, I will definitely grab a few pairs for my daughter!! xoxo Beth
ReplyDeleteSo chic! I have a pair of black ones but those blue/grey ones are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteAnd I must agree!!! Loving them!!! Need to get some pronto! And what a cute girl! :)

P.S: I have a supercute giveaway running come and check it out if you can! :)
i <3 to wear knee high smartwool socks with danskos in the fall!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking pic!
ReplyDeleteI would like to try this style on!
Great looking.
L.
I was wearing them last winter, and early spring, so it's good to know that I'm ahead of fashion once more. How rad :)
ReplyDeleteHappy 1st of September!
YES! The funny thing is when I was in catholic school from k to 8th grade I HATED wearing knee high socks and tights now I love them. Funny how things change.
ReplyDeletehttp://fashionistanygirl.blogspot.com/
just love them!
ReplyDeleteI love the high knee socks. Knees get cold too!
ReplyDeleteTeresa
My husband thinks they are sexy... so, I've worn them, but never really out and about (if you know what I mean...)
ReplyDeleteI have a couple pairs I got in Japan last year, the girls over there were really fond of over-the-knee socks. However, since I wasn't blessed with mile high legs, I wear mine with sheer tights underneath.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure this is a look for me. I'm curvy and athletically built - I think it's something that works on a girl who's more lanky and leggy. I'm seriously jeal though that this girl Garance captured pulls it off so well - I think cutting off my body in that spot wouldn't do it any favors. I might bust out a good knee sock though when running this winter :) Therefore - super high aren't my style.
ReplyDeleteBecca
If I had those legs I would....
ReplyDeletemost definitly! adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love wearing them in the cold! Especially under cute boots with just a little bit sticking out the top. I have a favorite purple pair I snagged from Urban Outfitters for $5!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE knee socks a lot! So cute & so perfect for autumn!
ReplyDeletei love this look but wonder if age and legs play a factor in pulling it off. i like the idea of tights underneath! thanks for the link to your favorites, i'm going to buy a pair and try them out.
ReplyDeletexo!
I wore knee high socks when I lived in Germany for practical purposes during the cold winter months. I love them! :)
ReplyDeleteI do wear them but not with a gap between them and my skirt. I like to wear them with a knee length skirt - sexy without the self consciousness : ) Lots of people here in London, wear them over tights with a mini.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. I am already scouting out where to find them. So far it looks like urban outfitters, DKNY, and the brand Hue have some great options.
ReplyDeleteLove this look - would definitely rock a pair.
ReplyDeleteFlashback to first day of school freshman year when I tried to creat a Cher outfit from the movie "Clueless" and wore knee socks and a hot plaid kilt.
I would wear them if I could pull off the look like that! Not quite as confident that I could repeat the look from my own closet....
ReplyDeleteThey're cute and more comfortable than tights but I'm in my mid 40s so I think I'll stick with tights.
ReplyDeleteI would wear them in order to stay warm bc I am ALWAYS cold! And yes they are very cute! But I think I would be obsessive about pulling them up over and over again!
ReplyDeletei bought a pair from h&m but they were too short!! where can i find some nice long ones??
ReplyDeletehttp://thestylespotter.blogspot.com/
definitely need a few of these! i don't like wearing pants, only skirts and dresses, so these would be perfect to keep warm in when i don't feel like wearing tights!
ReplyDeleteI think I am MOST excited for this trend!
ReplyDeletexx
Nikki
I absolutely will be wearing them! BTW, I'm older than the mid 40's women who are commenting that they are too old for them. I'm wearing them anyway! Age is just a number!
ReplyDeleteLove them. They must be stripy and maybe oddly matched. Like Pipi Longstocking! Any girl who can carry a horse and has a pet monkey AND wears the coolest socks in the world gets my vote.
ReplyDeleteoooo i love them! so much!
ReplyDeleteLoving the knee socks look! Just have to find the perfect pair that sits just right!
ReplyDeletewww.annawithlove.com
oooh absolutely! now i just need to get a cute pair of booties to go with them! i wonder how they would look with taller boots, or if that would just be too much...hmmm.
ReplyDeleteYep. I would most definitely wear knee socks...it just needs to get cool enough so I can.
ReplyDeletethese take me back to my childhood school days!
ReplyDeleteYES I would wear those; adorable.
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing this all over Japan, too! It love the look, although I think of it more as 'thigh high' rather than knee high. Wish I could pull it off.. it just wouldn't be tasteful with my curvy legs, even in my 20's.
ReplyDeleteI've always worn high sock! They keep my legs warm! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, that's a cool look. Nice outfit too.
ReplyDeletenot with my legs!! but i love the look... and that skirt!
ReplyDeleteyep- already much in evidence on the British festival circuit this Summer- though that's mostly to protect from wellies rubbing!
ReplyDeleteBy the way did you have a surf poster from the 60s on your site at some point? I can see the image in my mind but I can't find it anywhere!
I would LOVE to have the gams to wear these thigh highs! Alas...I will have to admire from afar...I'm a tights kind a gal...
ReplyDeleteBubbs...
www.paris-on-my-mind.blogspot.com
Love the look, but its not for me. I shall leave it to the younger slim legged beauties out there to do it justice!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely. the colour mix in this outfit is amazing too!
ReplyDeletei would love to, but i think i might be a bit to short (i'm 4'10")
ReplyDeletei'll have to give it a try :)
<3 gina
mmmmmmmmmmm qué frío!!!
ReplyDeleteYes they are in and I'm a maybe on wearing them ;) I think the gray or another neutral is fine, and it'd have to be the perfect look for it!
ReplyDeleteOh YES I would wear them. Bring on the fall weather.
ReplyDeleteI love knee socks, I have many pairs. Fall wardrobe is my fave!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Though I think people with shorter legs (like me) might not be able to pull it off >.<
ReplyDeleteLove this look..!
ReplyDeleteHAHA- ooh me wearing those would be funny. I've never tried, but I don't know much about fashion and I feel they would look unflattering on my thick, muscular legs. I'll leave that to the lovely slender/long legged-people. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this look but don't think I have the stems to pull it off. I do however, love the idea of socks with heels to transition into fall.
ReplyDeleteI am a long-time proponent of tall socks. I frequently wear knee socks regardless of the strange looks I get, so I am DELIGHTED that these beauties are in! I'd wear them in a heart beat :D
ReplyDeleteLOVE knee socks, and like the trend reports too.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, I don't think that's the most flattering skirt. The socks are great though!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely i would wear them. i shop for knee socks/thigh socks because i stay SO COLD all winter long and like to layer as much as possible... without feeling stuffed and unable to move. so i wear things like this under long johns and jeans..... ;)
ReplyDelete-v-
Yes!..... I'd wear them if I looked like the girl in the photo;)
ReplyDeletelovelovelove them BUT - what do you think about wearing them to the office...??
ReplyDeleteI love this look but I'm more a "granny mixed with tomboy style" type and don't wear miniskirt anymore!
ReplyDeletealways have, they rock!
ReplyDeletethey look amazing on her... and her legs... i will look from afar... after all, after 45... we need to!
ReplyDeleteI am getting old, the only thing I see are her hunched shoulders! I just want to tell her you look great in your sky high socks no need to be so tense!
ReplyDeleteYes, they are super cute. But I would make sure there wasn't too much walking to do as these socks tend to fall slightly with every step.
ReplyDeletei have ALWAYS wanted to wear knee socks but could never pull a coordinating outfit together! i should do what prippy handbook says and copy cher from clueless! classic!
ReplyDeleteApparently it's another case of everything old is new again! I had some of these in the 80s...and loved them then!!
ReplyDeleteHm...I'll have to try this out, but fear it may be hard to pull off. I like the way it looks in the photo tho!
ReplyDeletethink I would... love them!
ReplyDeleteI do LOVE this look, but I just don't feel I have the legs for them. I am not trying to be down on myself, I just know the truth on this one. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't like the over-the-knee socks but I like the ones that go up to the knee. Megan Nielsen (from megannielsen.com) wears knee highs under her calf boots and I'm going to start doing that this fall 'cause it is ca-UTE!
ReplyDeleteI just got my first pair and wore them this last weekend!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely wear them! I love the ones in the picture, and cute hat too!
ReplyDeleteI think this look works only if you've got long, skinnies - I don't think it's a real woman look. So it's not a style for me.
ReplyDeletei love this look but i agree, you have to have either long legs or if you are short, really skinny legs to pull it off. i have the long legs, but i'm wondering if there is an age limit to pull this off? at 37, i'm not sure if i could do it????
ReplyDeletefor sure, you could pull it of joanna!
I used to wear them quite a lot but the top of my legs would get very cold. I really like the look, but they're not so practical; I'll get thights instead!
ReplyDeleteYes for sure AND with the army jacket too
ReplyDeleteSO Adorable and perfect for winter!
ReplyDeleteTHE ROO
everything's beautiful here
ooooo i love this trend and am SO happy it's in! i wore socks like this in 7th grade, and 17 years later, i'm looking forward to wearing this look again!
ReplyDeleteHells yeah! I already have some.
ReplyDeleteI am looking to buy some now. I love love love the look and how quickly they update a favorite summer look and take into the colder weather. Plus unlike the ankle socks I think these are flattering on any size! Everyone should have a pair.
ReplyDeleteI would wear them....If they looked even remotely cute on my short and stocky legs:( I think this is a trend I will have to leave to the tall girls.
ReplyDeleteThey are cute and quirky. I am debating on whether to wear them or not? It gets pretty cold where I live, so the knee socks could come in handy.
ReplyDeleteslightly obsesssed with knee/thigh socks at the moment!
ReplyDelete-emily
http://www.informalthing.blogspot.com
I dunnoo....they look cute on her and probably on the leaner/longer women. I'd feel too cold on the part NOT covered by the socks hahaha :)
ReplyDeleteI do totally love this look. However, its a hard thing to pull off for daily wear. They are cute for non-working days but I always feel a bit like a streetwalker when I try to pull it off!
ReplyDeleteYes love the look, but I hate it when they don't stay up. Warmly, Karen
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get a pair, love them!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog Joanna, but I would never listen to any magazine (New York Magazine) that lists fur as part of their "next big thing". Faux fur, that's fine, whatever, but listening fur on boots and then having a little cat next to it! Talk about horrible taste, NYMag! Real fur isn't in and it will never be in again.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the girl in knee-high socks however is fantastic.
I think they're adorable in theory--they conjure up that back-to-school feeling that is so prevalent at this time of year--but I think you really have to love your legs in order to wear them.
ReplyDeleteI added myself to follow your blog. You are more than welcome to visit mine and become a follower if you want to.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless You ~Ron
Yep! I agree with the commenter who said they'd need to be guaranteed to stay up. I have some (knee-high) smartwools (they're thin and stripey, not nubby and think) that usually perform appropriately, but I think over-the-knee might be tricky.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh--this reminds me of the movie Clueless. Maybe Dr. Suess hats are coming back too!
ReplyDeleteYes, maam! I would! I've tried to experiment, I need a little bit more practice though. XO Valerie
ReplyDeleteP.S. Have you seen Coca Rocha portraying an artist's muse in Nordstrom's new fall print campaign? So Edie Sedgwick (but more sane).
http://imstarvin.blogspot.com/2010/09/factory-girl-part-two.html
I WOULD TRY!
ReplyDeleteyes! cute!
ReplyDeleteThat's actually really cute. Maybe I'll try it.
ReplyDeletebeautiful!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. They rock when pulled on over tights. Don't like the bare leg at all, except on the very young. Key is layering. xx's
ReplyDeleteI really love this trend. They are a perfect alternative to black tights. I wore some black ones the other night with some oxfords and a stripped long sleeve t-shirt dress. I really was digging that outfit.
ReplyDeleteHer posture is making my back hurt...
ReplyDeleteI used to wear them when I was a teenager and something tells me I will probably start wearing them again!
ReplyDeleteI love tall socks because sometimes it's just not quite cool enough for leggings yet and they do the job nicely. And I love grey socks / leggings... goes with almost everything!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE tall socks, but I'm also 5'9" and some times I worry that because my legs are so long, I look kinda...like I'm trying to be a slutty teenager in a catholic school outfit! to put it bluntly. hopefully i can find a way to wear them with a skirt that is long enough that it looks that good (in the pic).
ReplyDeleteI love those socks... much better than wearing tights!!
ReplyDeletei would love to but only if my legs look as good as those!
ReplyDeletei love over-the-knee socks, but only when layered with tights!
ReplyDeletei bought some for super cheap at american apparel the other day. we shall see when the weather gets cooler!
ReplyDeletefor sure. i love them!
ReplyDeleteI love these! I can't wait until fall so I can pull mine out again.
ReplyDeleteUh , hell no! This is like the female equivalent of Urkel pulling up his pants too high.
ReplyDeleteive been eyeing over knee socks for the past couple years, never manage to find the right pair! these are lovely.
ReplyDeletei should buy them
With knee-high boots yes. But not with those.
ReplyDeleteThese go on my list of reasons why I love the Fall.
ReplyDeleteI easily have a weeks worth of knee high socks, they've been selling them here for some time. I love them, but not sure I'd wear them now i'm in my 20s for anything other than welly socks!
ReplyDeleteI love it, especially in grey! Might have to follow this trend.... great pic!!
ReplyDeleteYes and I do!
ReplyDeleteshe looks cute, but i'm not quiiiiiite sure I could rock them.
ReplyDeleteI like knee socks.
ReplyDeleteI love the heather gray. And for the right price. Great outfit! Must have these.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI love your blog! following you:)
welcome to enjoy and follow at

<3 Anika
I can't believe I am ahead of a trend, I am not stylish at all! I started wearing over the knee socks last fall as I needed something to keep my legs warm under skirts (I like knee length) and I hate tights. I got mine at www.sockdreams.com, they have a huge selection and good prices.
ReplyDeleteHell yeah I'd wear them. In grey. With a camel skirt and brown boots. Yeah, pretty much how this girl's rockin' it! xx
ReplyDeleteAbso-fing-lutely!!! RADNESS disguised as fashion!!! love it!
ReplyDeleteI love big long socks. I've been wearing them for years!
ReplyDeleteNever. Just not me.
ReplyDeleteSure! only if my calves didn't look like daikon radishes. I lurrve your blog.
ReplyDeletethe socks really set off that celine skirt. she looks great.
ReplyDeleteI live in my over the knee socks- layered in the winter, and on their own in the summer! They are perfect with a hemline this length!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I haven't worn these since I was 13 and my legs were too little to keep them up, and I loved them. Definitely going to wear these again. So cute!
ReplyDeletethis is my most favorite trend for the fall....
ReplyDeletelove!
Of course! I can't wait to wear them again;)
ReplyDeleteI love over-the-knee socks, and would wear them all winter if I could find a pair that didn't skootch downwards when I walk!
ReplyDeleteI adore them, but I have larger quads and they tend to make them look like ridiculous-unless I get the perfect sock.
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't have such athletic legs, I definitely would.
ReplyDeleteYes knee socks are the next big thing! LOVIN IT.
ReplyDeletei love this girl and everything she is wearing!!!

I definitely love the ones in this picture!
ReplyDeleteI've been wearing over the knee socks for the past two years. They're the best. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!
