New York is hot as blazes this week (101 yesterday!). Wouldn't it be wonderful to whisk away to the French countryside? These shady trees and lakes look so inviting right about now. Hope you're managing to stay cool, wherever you are. xo(Photos by Patrick Smith)

We were up in the Catskills this past week, and it does look like the French countryside, but even with the lakes and trees, it was insanely hot!
ReplyDeleteooh, the catskills, so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteFrance is lovely, but from NYC you're within driving distance of unlimited woods and lakes...and wine countries, heh. Ithaca can offer quite the respite :)
ReplyDeleteWe both have Breathing Spaces on out minds...I did a post this morning about my breathing sanctuary...This is wonderful and so relaxing....thanks:)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day, Joanna:)
Ps: Its sooooo hot...ufff:)
Those pictures are lovely! Would love to one day go to France. and It's a hot one in Toronto too...phew!

I am so hot right now that even those photos look hot!
ReplyDeleteActually, I'd love to escape to Hvar, Croatia where I was 5 years ago. Perhaps next summer!
ReplyDeleteThe air just looks like it would be fresher there, doesn't it? I can't get to the French countryside at the moment, but my back porch is a nice alternative!
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful, Joanna :)
we're experience a heat wave here in Portland, OR, too!! 98 degrees tomorrow! Although, I have to admit it is a WELCOME change from all the rain we've had this year!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck staying cool with your little man! :)
I was in France a couple weeks ago and it was very hot as well in the countryside. But those photos do look nice...

I'm feeling the NY heat too!! I would love to be in the French countryside right now!! =)
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love to go there right now...
ReplyDeleteActually in California though, it's been pretty chilly! Maybe in the 70's-80's tops, when usually it's 113 degrees here!
How Random!
I hope you find a way to stay cool :)
101! No wonder you're dreaming of getting away. These photos are beautiful!

Oklahoma hovers on or around 100 degrees for three straight months in the Summer! In two weeks we're escaping to 14,000 feet and camping & hiking in Colorado. It's been our beat-the-heat getaway for the last 3 years.
ReplyDeleteAnd those pictures are France?! Wow.
oh, how i long to float lazily in a cool lake in provence! i adore these photos...the perfect daydream getaway from the chilly san francisco fog. :)
ReplyDeletexo,

91 in Lisbon today (much better than the last couple of days). Water and ice-creams, that's how I do it :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a cool day in Boston (89) compared to the blistering 100+ heat we had yesterday. I'd love nothing more than to dive into a European sea, and then let myself bake in the dry heat. Although Madrid is one of few European cities to not have a river (or main water source), there was no better feeling than taking a dip in the pool in the early evening, and then taking a late day siesta to dry off.

going to the nort of Norway on friday so dont think heat insane will be my problem! more worried about the rain :)
ReplyDeleteStay cool!
Ooh, that does look soo soothing and cool :) What a lovely scene :)
ReplyDeleteThese photos look lovely. How great would it feel to sit in the shade, with a cool breeze, and my feet dangling in the lake, ahhhhhh! Instead I am hugging my window ac unit as if my life depended on it, which you know it sort of does =(
ReplyDeletelooks fabulous!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh the heat wave.... Whenever I see water or ice, it does magic and my body temp goes down - it's really hot in FL today too. Stay cool, Joanna!
ReplyDeletep.s. hope your little Prince is staying cool too:)
xoxo
yikes. I had no idea it got that hot in NY! It's really hot and sticky here in Texas. :[ I'm so ready for fall!!
ReplyDeletewe finally had our first summer day yesterday here in vancouver so i'm welcoming the heat but i would love to be whisked away to the french countryside at any point!
ReplyDeletelooks lovely!
stay cool everyone! a little pink lemonade or an ice cream sundae...always does the trick for me!
You're our go-to NYC resident blogger, Jo: WHAT MUST ONE DO TO KEEP COOL IN THE SUMMER IN THE CITY? !
ReplyDeleteI keep some of my favorite cities in my weather app on my phone, just so I can dream about where else I could be on miserable, hot days.
ReplyDeleteRight now...
71 and cloudy in Marfa, Texas
81 and partly sunny in Heidelberg, Germany
68 and cloudy in London, England
73 and partly sunny in Halifax, Novia Scotia
57 and cloudy in Denver, Colorado
come to the bay area and watch the fog roll in on the way to wine country! perfect terrain for summer bike riding! xo.
ReplyDeleteThe French countryside looks so dreamy. Hope you're staying cool. It's been unseasonably cool and overcast in LA...it almost feels like fall!
ReplyDeleteanything away from the office looks dreamy right now : ) that place i can see myself staying for a while! our weather in CA is COLD! whats going on???
ReplyDeleteYes, those photos look beautiful. And Iris, Ithaca is so gorgeous. I was there a few summers ago and loved it. xoxo
ReplyDeleteyes, iris, we're actually going to the hudson valley next week, i can't wait! :)
ReplyDeleteI finally caved in yesterday and bought a fan, a rotating tower kind! While I feel like I can take the heat, I worry that my 2 kitties would suffer in our place all day with no air conditioning.
ReplyDeleteSeattle's got nothing on the East Coast, though. We whine when it hits 90.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful dream place!
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly what I'm dreaming to fly away to. Reminds me of the lodge in Montana my husband's family visits. I'm thinking a trip would be nice right about now : )
ReplyDeleteSame here, but luckily we have the beach right across our apt. So this morning we took a dip in the Adriatic Sea.

I'm scared. I'm coming to NYC for a week tomorrow. I'm used to crappy British weather - I'm gonna fry!
ReplyDeleteIt's freakin' freezing where I am right now (northern CA). But I'm coming to NYC in August - could you ask the city to simmer down a little before I arrive?
ReplyDeleteWow! That's just way too hot! It's been raining since the 4th over here on the west coast so I'm not sure which is worse! I would love to get away where it's warmer!
ReplyDeleteAhhh! Simply amazing!
ReplyDeletexxS

Staying cool is an understatement! It's so cold, gloomy and wet that it looks like it's been raining all day here in San Diego. Luckily we just returned from Palm Springs:)
