Inspired by Iceland

Inspired by Iceland is a new project by the Icelandic government that encourages people to travel to Iceland and not be too scared of volcanos. Don't you love this video that they made? The filming is incredible, and, oh, those glaciers!

I saw this a few days ago and thought of e-mailing you about it, but then I read you'd be away from the blog and figured you'd hear about it without my help.
Glad you did! It's lovely. Did you tell your dad about it?
Cheers

Is it crazy that large bodies of ice scares me? Like deep fears going on here. Alas, it's still a beautiful country.

Ooo... Emiliana Torrini, one of my favorite musicians. I highly recommend her albums (this song is on the "me and armini" album... whenever I put it on, my 18-month daughter stomps her feet and runs around like crazy!).

That's funny. And makes me think if I did go and there was another volcanic erruption, maybe I wouldn't mind that I'm stuck there.

Wow this is amazing! (And actually kind of makes me want to go to Iceland, so it obviously works!)
It's so nice how the government have made something fun and creative. All the government films made in England are usually quite straight forward and not so fun.. x

And this video is so cute. Emiliana Torrini is a phenomenal singer and I think Jungle Drum is so appropriate for this video.

Oh, and who else thinks that the outfits the two girls in the beginning wore were perfect?

We stopped in Rejkavik on a layover last summer and ever since I have been dying to go back. Flying over the country was so spectacular and I can just imagine how lovely it must really be!

I've been to Iceland and I've got to say that while it was beautiful--the people were generally unhelpful and unfriendly to tourists. The airport in Reykjavik is a disaster--it's unorganized and small. The blue lagoon was practically a water park, and the water was only hot in a few places where everyone huddled around. The bottom of the lagoon was slimy and when you lifted your foot to see the clay, sometimes you'd also see human hair. Yuck.

If you want glaciers, opt for Scoresby Sund in Greenland or Spitsbergen Norway and if you want a fun Scandinavian country to visit, go to Sweden or Denmark instead. It's so much cheaper than Norway, where you will need to spend 100 USD for a pizza alone with a 15 USD beer.

When I went to England this April, I bought my tickets through Iceland Air because they were cheaper.. as luck had it, I flew over JUST as the volcano started to erupt. I was stuck there for a day and a 1/2, and I wasn't very happy about it (despite the fact that I got to stay and eat for free at a lovely Hilton) BUT what I saw of Iceland was awesome - and I definitely plan to return someday to wander around the wilderness.

My ex boyfriend / current friend leaves today to hike through the countryside, and I'm rather jealous.

Yes, we all Icelanders are like this, dancing and laughing all the time :)

Tonight "Inspired by Iceland" is throwing a big concert in downtown Reykjavík, with bands such as Spiritualized, Gus Gus, Damien Rice and more.

They are broadcasting it live from their website in two hours.

ray ban wayfarer sizes said...

If you get a little confused about ray ban aviator sizes, you will appreciate the following information about how sizing works with a couple of the more popular wayfarer models. The RB 2132 in the 52 mm size is a smaller fit than the RB 2140 in the 50 mm size because the frame size of the 2132 is generally smaller than the 2140. ray ban wayfarers sizes, extremely popular in the eighties have been making a strong come back and is resurfacing as one of Ray Bans most popular designs.

medical bankruptcy said...

Medical bankruptcy is a general term for the cause, why sign someone had to insolvency. Medical bankruptcy is not a legal concept and not technically file a medical bankruptcy. If you have a lot of medical bills and have to file for bankruptcy, you would either a Chapter 7 bankruptcy or Chapter 13 bankruptcy register, and would include all of your medical bills along with your other unsecured debts. They would be released at the end of your bankruptcy, as well as an unsecured credit card or loan. You are required to list all your creditors, including medical bills, if you file bankruptcy.

termite control said...

Termites can harm living trees, but they more commonly attack woody plants that are already in decline. Besides the obvious economic termite damage it causes, an infestation can also be a significant emotional strain. For this reason, termite control is essential. And since it is so complex and difficult a task, get rid of termites to these pests and eradicating them from a home is normally a task best left to trained experts in the field.
