Countdown

Our little dude is due on June 2nd -- three weeks from today! I'm so excited to meet him. Alex and I have been reading tons of books on newborn baby care and came across the cutest line last night: Apparently, very young babies can get easily overstimulated because they can't look away. They literally don't know how! How sweet is that?

Oh gosh, I can't believe it takes only 3 weeks!! Following your whole pregnancy experience gets me sooo excited now! Good luck!

I'm studying psichology right now, and my main course is focused on babies'development of abilities and emotional connection with their mother...It'd be a great experience, I can tell you!

  57. So so very exciting. It really really is as amazing as everyone says.

While you're into reading, one teeny suggestion: read a bit on infant sleep. I promise it will be helpful when after 2 weeks he stops sleeping all the time and you wonder what's happening!

And, yes my little guy has definitely stared at his mobile until he starts crying. Poor baby.

who's going to blog in your place while you're gone doing the mommy thing? can Alex pitch in and give us the guy perspective on L&D? will we have to wait forever for pictures or will you satisfy our curiosity about your cute little man earlier rather than later? I'm already having anxiety over your absence :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. It's so true. I used to have to look away from Devon when I was feeding her, or else she'd lock eyes with me and stop eating!

  75. I read this on another blog and think its a great idea. "Make sure you have a pretty pillowcase for the delivery of the baby. It will be in a million photos. Mine was so pretty that when I look at the pictures 13 years later, all I see is my gorgeous baby and that fabulous fabric. It’ll distract people from looking at your puffy I-just-gave-birth face”

The over stimulation thing is really funny you have to actually take down their little cot mobiles at night if they are too agitated. There is a fabulous baby book by Kaz Cooke called Baby Wrangling - it is a non uptight baby book and I loved it. I also highly recommend swaddling - I did it with both of my babies and I also highly recommend keeping your noise levels up in the house (music, talking, TV) as it means you are not tip toeing around and trying to keep silent for a sleeping baby. Good luck with it all very exciting Carolyn
