Guest Post: A Few of My Favorite Things
+ Sun-kissed freckles. Not only are they adorable, they give me an excuse to go easy on the makeup all summer long.
+ Architectural salvage yards. I have this dream of living in a modern home, sprinkled with rustic details, like this sliding barn door.
+ Being feminine.
+ Big, thick, oversized glasses. I crush on a new pair every week.
+ Hats. My mom had me in all sorts of different styles from an early age. Right now I'm enamored of a classic fedora I picked during a trip to Sonoma, California.
+ Boy things, like flannel, hiking boots, oversized watches, broken-in jeans, and super soft T-shirts. I'm always stealing my fiancé's clothes!
+ Cats that do human things. Like this one.
+ Cheeky accessories. I'm a true nerd at heart, with a soft spot for dry humor. I love these playful mittens from Kate Spade. Gotta find a pair on eBay!
+ The best days start with two slices of avocado toast.

You seriously could have stolent my own list. Everything except the hats. I don't look good in them but I put my daughter in them for as long as I was in charge of her wardrobe!

I adore those glasses....
I love avocado! I've never had it on toast - will have to try. An unexpected way to enjoy it? In guacamole with apple. Yes, apple! It adds an unexpected crunch and sweet tang, too. My husband and I had crab guacamole on pita bread (and margaritas!) for dinner last night! :-) And I'm going to a bbq this afternoon, so I suspect I'll come home with a few more freckles. ;-)

A variation on the avocado toast - I put sliced avocado on a toasted bagel with a slathering of cream cheese and lots of salt and pepper. Yum!

The avocado toast looks easy enough!
I also adore the design of the Kate Spade HI 5 mittens. I was so excited when my boy tracked them down and gave them to me as a Christmas present last yr. Sadly, I ended up really disappointed. They became super bally the FIRST time I wore them (were talking light wear around town- nothing crazy- it was x-mas holidays!). This was especially disappointing as they weren't cheap ($90??!)
