Stanley the giraffe

Sharon Montrose recently photographed a three-month-old giraffe, and etsy produced a great video of the shoot. It was awesome to see Sharon behind the scenes, and the baby giraffe was so sweet--and surprisingly graceful--walking on his wobbly legs!

Watch the video here and find the print here.

P.S. Sharon also has a new lamb photo on 20x200.

He looks so genuinely willing to be of service. So real, so surreal, both.

I love her reaction when she first gets a peek at the baby giraffe. Pure awe! Also, I think I hear someone say, "Good job, Stanley." If the giraffe's name is Stanley, I can't think of anything more perfect!

Incredible! You must get this print for the nursery.

Have a happy weekend, Joanna! Hope you enjoy this gorgeous weather, now that spring has finally reached our fair city.

Cheers.

The baby giraffe's really cute but I am not sure if it belongs in a studio with such bright lights.

I agree that this is a cute photo, but I definitely have ethical issues with tying up a baby animal and putting him in this situation just so we can look at a cute photo. Not really worth it to me..

baby giraffes are painfully adorable - those legs are like stilts!

Sharon said...

Tiffany,

I know the rope looks big compared to a dog's leash for example-but it's because he is a very big animal. He was NOT "tied up", he's just on a leash. He may not be in the wild, but I know his owners, and I can tell you he is loved and cared for and his time in the studio was quick... Just thought I'd mention that!
Best,
Sharon

This is soooo adorable. I found a picture of a little baby deer a while ago somewhere on the internet and it has been in my inspiration folder ever since, but I never knew who took it. Now I do =) Sharons pictures are truly amazing. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with Sumi, Tiffany and Chris above. This is unethical and cruel. Putting a beautiful creature in such an uncomfortable situation just to make some cash on etsy... this really stoops to a new low.
