Winter weather
New York is having another blizzard today. Blarg. I'm about ready for winter to be over, aren't you? To make things a little cozier, I'm thinking of making cauliflower soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. Plus, the women's figure skating finals are on tonight! Hope you guys are staying warm and cozy. xo

aww poor you guys :[ we only have snow showers this weekend and im GLAD!!! we dont need any more snow after the blizzards!!! i never had cucumber soup but it sounds good especially with grilled cheese sandwiches :D

aww, today was sunny and beautiful in Hungary, i even had to buy new shoes because the boots i was wearing were too hot!
Heels in the snow? That is crazy! I used to do it, but then I realized Uggs are so much easier to walk in.

it's so white and snowy and beautiful, but it isn't amounting to anything but slush....sigh. sometimes i miss living in the country. although, this snow always seems to come when i have somewhere to go. all i want to do is hole up inside all day and night, eat warm foods, and watch movies.
Gosh. I am so sorry. It has been "cold" here too -- highs of 40s and 50s. The average high here (I'm in Houston) in February is in the mid60s, so it's definitely a lot cooler than it should be. I really shouldn't be complaining though, because compared to your situation I'm quite lucky. :/

Sick of it? Sick of it? Shriek. True, I'm in DC & the expected snow passed us by...we did receive two blows earlier this month, the evidence of which still remains in disgusting humps & walls of grime.
But the winds are picking up & we're expecting 50 mile/hour gusts. Damn. I just returned from spending yet more $ I don't have on D batteries for the new camping lantern I bought (see above); powering up the radio, new flashlight with asst'd. batteries. Eating dinner NOW. Heating up soup for later, in case. Bleep. Sorry, Joanna. Anyway, I hope the power stays on so I can see the finals. Mine was out for 8.5 freaking days And in case anyone says, "Well you know other people in the world..." Yes I know. I was one of those people. When the power out = no heat...the winter looks a lot different.
Wish I could come to dinner. But the train will probably stop as well. You're safe.:)

I'm in Upstate and received 2 feet yesterday and another 2 feet today/tonight. But, if you decide you want to live here, you've got to be ready for the crazy weather we get (generally, if you don't like the weather here, wait 5 minutes and it will change)
Hi Joanna. So funny you posted about the snow. I just posted this morning about all the rain we are getting in Maine. We are expecting 25 foot waves and coastal flooding. Wearing bright colors, drinking tea, eating cookies and splashing about in puddles with my dog while wearing my rock 'n Muddruckers. Enjoy the snow, we wish we had some here in Maine!! xo

Almost all my college friends live in NYC now and they are def complaining about the weather. Hope it clears up for you guys soon!

We're getting hit pretty badly in Cleveland too. I can't believe it is still snowing. I used to figure skate competitively so I am super pumped for skating tonight!

We've had unseasonably cold weather here in Texas, but looking forward to a nice 55 degree weekend. Stay warm.
All this snow is for the birds! I wish I had as lovely as snow plan as you though...I might have to change my dinner plans to involve soup and grilled cheese as well.
I want to be that girl! When it's cold outside I just throw on jeans or cords and a sweater. I can't make myself dress cute when it's freezing outside!

But me and my boyfriend have tickets to go see John Mayer tomorrow night at the Madison and we're coming from Reading, PA in a charter bus so hopefully the snow won't ruin our trip- its already a 3 hour drive! eek!

Dang, I'm reminded of the winter I was pregnant with my 4th kiddo and living in ny and it snowed every Wed. and every Fri. for 14 weeks...ugh 15 years later I'm trying to teach her how to drive on snow-packed streets in denver.

Grilled cheese sandwiches make everything better :) Move to Texas. It snowed on Tuesday and was sunny and fabulous on Wednesday. Never gets old.

Lucky that the temperatures aren't too cold... at one point we had major snow and wind and the temperatures were at -25C (-31C with windchill). It was unbearable!

You know, I'm so tiried of winter too. Where I live there is this a bit melted snow everywhere. And I want so mauch to go out with beautiful high heel shoes. But it's imposible now, because I probably would just break my neck.
jo - i can't even tell you how odd it is to read this post as a former New Yorker. everyone has asked me about how brutal my winter in Maine has been - but all we have is rain!!!! i haven't seen snow here since December!

It is snowing here, too. Doubled my commute time. Not loving it but, realistically, this winter has been pretty good.
SO ready for winter to be over. Praise Buddha the sun finally decided to come out in Chicago, but NYC better start to ac-rite cause I am blowin into town next week and I've had about all I can take of this winter nonsense.

lucky you! it's been 40 degrees (104+) for the last three days in my part of Australia. I'd give anything for snow!! i didn't see snow until I was 24!
I am beyond ready for it to end. Time for spring, fresh air and farmers markets...or a trip to Hawaii.

two of my favorite things! I've been meaning to make cauliflower soup for a month now. I made white bean and escarole soup the other night- sooo tasty and so easy! I decided to jazz up the grilled cheese, gruyere and sharp cheddar with dijon, grilled onions and sliced granny smith apples ... you should try it! its deelish. that should keep us through this blizzard. they said 18 inches! oh boy.
I'm embarassed to admitt it... but I'm getting take away!
