Winter weather

New York is having another blizzard today. Blarg. I'm about ready for winter to be over, aren't you? To make things a little cozier, I'm thinking of making cauliflower soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. Plus, the women's figure skating finals are on tonight! Hope you guys are staying warm and cozy. xo

The Zhush said...

aaargh! So with you, especially on the grilled cheese, now dying for that too!

13bees said...

I cannot deal with this anymore and have literally forgotten what sunshine feels like!

Lauren said...

Seems like all they have here are blizzards. At least you guys are seeing the double digits. On the way to class this morning, I think it hit 4.

But I'm making chili. And that grilled cheese sounds like a fantastic idea.

The Traveling Circus said...

aww, today was sunny and beautiful in Hungary, i even had to buy new shoes because the boots i was wearing were too hot!

The Boob Nazi said...

Heels in the snow? That is crazy! I used to do it, but then I realized Uggs are so much easier to walk in.

Joanna Goddard said...

ooh, chili, that's a good idea, too :)

Tamara Nicole said...

Bundle up! That soup sounds lovely, I'm going to try it:-)

Meredith said...

Haha cauliflower soup, not cucumber! Cucumber is tooo summery. Looks good Joanna! Soup and grilled cheese is definitely a fave combo of mine!

Stephanie said...

Ah, me - I can never have enough snow. I am enjoying every minute!

I'd like a blizzard!! I'm dreading the approaching texas summer.

I didn't even pay attention to the weather yesterday so waking up to the snow was a pleasant surprise. I love cucumber soup:)

You need to get on flight to Portland, Oregon. It's already Spring here.

Every Little Counts said...

it's so white and snowy and beautiful, but it isn't amounting to anything but slush....sigh. sometimes i miss living in the country. although, this snow always seems to come when i have somewhere to go. all i want to do is hole up inside all day and night, eat warm foods, and watch movies.

Emily said...

Gosh. I am so sorry. It has been "cold" here too -- highs of 40s and 50s. The average high here (I'm in Houston) in February is in the mid60s, so it's definitely a lot cooler than it should be. I really shouldn't be complaining though, because compared to your situation I'm quite lucky. :/

Melissa Blake said...

Stay warm! This will be a good story to tell the baby someday...the year of all those NYC blizzards! xoxo

Giulia said...

Sick of it? Sick of it? Shriek. True, I'm in DC & the expected snow passed us by...we did receive two blows earlier this month, the evidence of which still remains in disgusting humps & walls of grime.

But the winds are picking up & we're expecting 50 mile/hour gusts. Damn. I just returned from spending yet more $ I don't have on D batteries for the new camping lantern I bought (see above); powering up the radio, new flashlight with asst'd. batteries. Eating dinner NOW. Heating up soup for later, in case. Bleep. Sorry, Joanna. Anyway, I hope the power stays on so I can see the finals. Mine was out for 8.5 freaking days And in case anyone says, "Well you know other people in the world..." Yes I know. I was one of those people. When the power out = no heat...the winter looks a lot different.

Wish I could come to dinner. But the train will probably stop as well. You're safe.:)

Feeling horrible for ya'll as I sit here with my toes stuck in the sand on The Gulf of Mexico.

We had snow this year, and we all couldn't drive in it, so we all wrecked our cars.. Feel better now?

Vanessa said...

Soup and grilled cheese sounds heavenly. I know what I'm having for dinner now! :D

Stephanie said...

It's snowing lots here too. Soup and salad is also on the menu for dinner at my house tonight!

I'm in Upstate and received 2 feet yesterday and another 2 feet today/tonight. But, if you decide you want to live here, you've got to be ready for the crazy weather we get (generally, if you don't like the weather here, wait 5 minutes and it will change)

Sharon Kitchens said...

Hi Joanna. So funny you posted about the snow. I just posted this morning about all the rain we are getting in Maine. We are expecting 25 foot waves and coastal flooding. Wearing bright colors, drinking tea, eating cookies and splashing about in puddles with my dog while wearing my rock 'n Muddruckers. Enjoy the snow, we wish we had some here in Maine!! xo

Anda Marie said...

I'm soo excited for women's figure skating tonight!! And your dinner sounds delicioso! I can't believe the east coast is getting hit harder than us out in Wisconsin this year -- insane. Almost all my college friends live in NYC now and they are def complaining about the weather. Hope it clears up for you guys soon!

We've barely had any kind of winter here in Seattle! I hate to say, but I do wish it would snow at least once this year!

Btw, I'd thought you and your readers would like to know I'm having a book related giveaway on my blog this week!

Feel free to stop by! :)

I know! And the sidewalks are all slippery. :-(

At this point, I'm willing to give my left pinkie toe for this snow to be over. Okay, maybe not that bad, but you get the idea. Warm soup and the boob tube sound amazing, and EXACTLY what I plan on doing!

I want to be that girl! When it's cold outside I just throw on jeans or cords and a sweater. I can't make myself dress cute when it's freezing outside!

That photo is one of my favourites for this winter on that site.

Lucky that the temperatures aren't too cold... at one point we had major snow and wind and the temperatures were at -25C (-31C with windchill). It was unbearable!
