Guessing game

My doctor said that at our next appointment--tomorrow--we should be able to find out if we're having a boy or a girl. Alex and I are so excited and have been dying of curiosity. (And there are so many funny old wives' tales!) So, want to take a little poll to see if we can guess? I'd love to hear your predictions -- some people have awesome intuition!

We'll have the real answer tomorrow, eeps! xoxo

  3. Weather it's a boy or a girl, I think makes no difference. The gift is in the baby itself. I agree with Emily, either way you'll be a proud mother of a beautiful child! Congrats!

  4. oh my gosh!!! i'm so excited for you, joanna. i have terrible intuition about these things, so i'm not even going to wager a guess.

i can't wait until we find out the sex(es). at our appointment this week we find out how many we're having (we had three embryos transferred). based on how sick i am, it feels like there are about a hundred in there, but i'm hoping for twins!!!

  21. Just don't forget that whatever they say it's not 100% accurate - and can be less accurate if they tell you it's a girl!

A good friend of mine was told last spring she was having a girl! There was a lot of pink purchased, and many MANY adorbale dresses. The baby was born, wrapped quickly in a blanket and set on her chest for 15 or so minutes. When it came time to cut the cord they unwrapped their beautiful Thea Josephina and low and behold, there were boy parts down there! Turns out it was really Torin Joseph...

  33. I'm feeling a girl but my gender determination skills have been off as of late. In any case, "healthy" should be the only desired outcome and everything else is just icing on the cake!

  37. Congratulations on whatever your little child is! :) I'm 6 weeks preggo and was reading today about the amnio test you can have done at 16 weeks that counts chromosones and lets you in on your baby's secret 4 weeks early. Did you guys consider doing that? I know it's incredibly invasive (and looks PAINFUL) so I haven't decided yet if I want to do it. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wow this is so exciting! I just voted (girl) and it came up as 333 votes for a boy and 329 votes for a girl... isn't that amazing that it's turned out 50% either way! xxxx

  71. Cute story: My friend Heather and her husband Dave wanted to know the sex of their baby -- their first child -- but didn't want to find out in the doctor's office. So, instead of blurting it out then and there, Heather asked the nurse to write down the sex of the baby on a piece of paper. Later that evening, over dinner, Heather got out the piece of paper, and she read it to Dave. It said, "boy." They were both overjoyed! (Dave had secretly been hoping for a boy.)

Best of luck with your appointment!

    xo.

  74. Tomorrow will be the most exciting day of your pregnancy besides actually having the baby. For my first pregnancy, they couldn't tell what the baby was until I was 6 or 7 months because she wouldn't cooperate. The second we could tell right away because he was letting it "all hang out." So exciting!

To Ashley Taylor: My husband and I found out with our 20-week ultrasound that there was a problem with the baby, and he might have a genetic condition with a 5% survival rate past age one. BUT, our doctors didn't suggest the amniocentesis, because it is so risky and the chance of miscarriage because of it was 1 in 3. Definitely do your research before considering the amnio, and best of luck!

  94. Speaking of babies, I couldn't help but forward a link to my friend's website (http://hapticlab.com/).

She makes Soft-Maps, what she calls "quilted maps of cities and neighborhoods that represent someone's unique place in the world." How sweet for a little one to be wrapped in a map of where they're growing up?

All the best to you and Alex,
