Travel fantasy: Dunton Hot Springs

Yowza. I've been researching hotels this week, and my eyes popped when I stumbled across Dunton Hot Springs in Colorado. Get this: Dunton is a restored ghost town (!) tucked into an alpine valley, with cozy cabins, a holistic spa, hot springs, and an award-winning organic restaurant in the old saloon (naturally). And, if that's not enough, you can reserve the whole town for 42 friends! Can you imagine?

Where have you been daydreaming about traveling these days?

  74. How is it that I lived in CO for 6 years & never heard of this place?! Probably because it's out of my price range but even still...! I LOVE hot springs & this looks amazing. If you ever go to CO in search of hot springs the ones in Steamboat are great - you can rent out little cabins for the night & get massages in the springs etc. And they're a little more reasonable but not nearly as swanky ;-)

I have been there and it is absolutely lovely. As I was doing volunteer trail work, we didn't actually stay there, but we got to drive through in our rickety old trail van. The San Juans are goooooorgeous. You should make it a real vacation rather than a dream one.

    ReplyDelete
  84. It's as if they said, "Ryan and Chelsea: what would be your dream getaway?" and then made it come true! We'd probably need to take out a loan to go there, though! Ah well, a girl can dream, can't she?
