Yowza. I've been researching hotels this week, and my eyes popped when I stumbled across Dunton Hot Springs in Colorado. Get this: Dunton is a restored ghost town (!) tucked into an alpine valley, with cozy cabins, a holistic spa, hot springs, and an award-winning organic restaurant in the old saloon (naturally). And, if that's not enough, you can reserve the whole town for 42 friends! Can you imagine?Where have you been daydreaming about traveling these days?

This sounds amazing!
ReplyDeletewe are leaving for paris next week and it's all i can think about... honeymoon here we come!
ReplyDeletethis hotel looks phenomenal! can you imagine reserving the whole town? amazing!
Holy fabulousness! That last photo just knocks my socks off.
ReplyDeleteChicago. Randomly. After seeing a gorgeous blog - Let's Go Ride A Bike - it made me want to cycle through frosty streets on studded tyres.
ReplyDeleteoooh, iheartkiwi, have an amazing honeymoon!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteoh, this makes me simultaneously amazed and sort of sad. i grew up very close to there, and it is a little heartbreaking to see it increasingly tourist-ized. that being said, i want to go to there . i actually have been dreaming about colorado lately. minus degrees in minnesota are no fun.
ReplyDeleteThe scenery in the first photo is gorgeous. I could look at that all day.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding. I would love to spend a few nights there. It's pretty pricey, but I've been thinking about it for awhile. We will see what happens.
ReplyDeletethat place looks AMAZING and so so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, that is so perfect ! I would like to run away there right now!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a nice spot! :)
ReplyDeletewow - nice find!! xx
ReplyDeleteMy travel dreams were recently realized at Kirawira in the Serengeti and Gibb's Farm in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Tanzania. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteI want to go to there. And hibernate all winter long.
ReplyDeletewow!!
ReplyDeleteit looks awesome, and to be able to go there, spend some time and imagine who were the people living there, what they did...
I am amazed!! :)
This looks like it would be the PERFECT place for a small, non traditional wedding. Can you imagine how much fun that would be?!
ReplyDeleteWell now I'm daydreaming about Dunton. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been there! It's fantastic. A little smelly (sulfur...blech) but otherwise completely amazing.
ReplyDeleteoh wow! this is incredible! i want to live there.
ReplyDeleteTo Playa del Carmen, Mexico. This hotel specifically! The nautical hotel rooms are just perfect.

(How brilliant would it be to rent that whole town?)
Wonderful place! I've been there (a few years ago) and actually wrote a magazine travel article about it. Cowboy chic! You'd love it! :-)
ReplyDeleteShannon

ReplyDeleteI am DYING to get back to Seaside, FL. I love it there.
ReplyDeleteIt looks heavenly.

ReplyDeletewhat a amazing place..
oh i know, isn't it amazing? i was obsessed with it a couple months ago... still am. i totally want to go.
ReplyDelete-angela
This would totally be the way to do a wedding. But before that happens, I'd just love to spend a lovely weekend there. Simply amazing find. I can't get over how gorgeous it is.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a very cozy and relaxing vacation.
ReplyDeleteSince I just did a post on Christmas in Paris---I'm really craving a trip to France right now.
XO Piper
oh i've seen that place on the travel channel and it's been on my "to go" list for quite some time.
ReplyDeletei've been dreaming of visiting all of america's national parks, based on that pbs series. have you seen it? it's beautiful.
How wonderful! An absolutely idyllic escape :-)
ReplyDeleteI would absolutely love to host a wedding here! Amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I have been there. It's one of the most beautiful places in the world. And I'm booking my wedding there for August 2011. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm daydreaming of France, as I plan my honeymoon there!'
ReplyDeleteThat cabin is to die for!
I want to go to The Cotswolds in England for Christmas one year...
ReplyDeleteI really need to go there. I wonder if it's too late to change my December vacation plans ;)
ReplyDeleteSooo amazing. I love pretty much every single thing about Colorado!
ReplyDeleteoooh, hollie, how fun!!!
ReplyDeleteyeah that looks awesome
ReplyDeleteCan I spend all of February there, please?
ReplyDeleteHoly cow that look lovely/crazy cool! I wonder if they'd allow me to live there for part of the year??
ReplyDelete{On someone else's dime, of course!}
This sounds so wonderful. Wish I was there RIGHT NOW!
ReplyDeletenapa valley...it's been on my mind for several months now. it will happen in 2010, one way or another.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am definitely dreaming of a white Christmas! And it will happen, one week from today, I will be tucked away, with my winter skin on and the fireplace blazing, back at home in Utah
ReplyDeleteas soon as i read "rent the whole town" i instantly thought of perfect intimate wedding! this my absolute ideal!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are planning a trip to Greece for our 10th anniversary, which is still 3 years away, but I think of it every day. We are taking our daughter, who will be 9 then and I can't wait to experience the whole trip with my two favorite people!
ReplyDeleteLooks so dreamy!
ReplyDeleteWell, now that you've introduced me to Dunton Hot Springs obviously that is the place I'm daydreaming about traveling to! There's something about log cabins that is so enchanting and calming. And the fact that you can reserve the entire town? Yes please! :)
ReplyDeleteThis place looks awesome!! I've always wanted to go to Colorado. Lately, I've been wanting to go to Prague!
ReplyDeleteNow that looks delightful.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking about a drive up the California coast.
i want to go now... amazing.
ReplyDeleteI want to go to there
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine reserving the whole town for a wedding or anniversary or something especially special of the sort? How rich. I love it.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely, cozy weekend, my dear!
Cheers.
what a special get away, how cozy!
ReplyDeleteThat place looks amazing and so cozy. I want to go to a cabin in the woods and watch the snow fall and snuggle in a huge quilt.
ReplyDeleteYes please!
ReplyDeleteI've been there and it's gorgeous. We have quite a few amazing hot springs towns here in CO!
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this.... day dreaming about going to this.
ReplyDeletewow wonderful! i have been dreaming about going to kauai, hawaii (surprising the girl friend) here in particular: http://www.thepalmwood.com/Photos.html a little b&b on the quiet North Shore of the island.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's so cool! Looks so rustic and cozy :)
ReplyDeletewhoa nelly! a whole town! the cabin alone looks awesome, how cool would it be to have that whole place to yourselves! i'm still dreaming about Egypt. That is #1 on my list. And Macchu Picchu.
ReplyDeletemy fiance and i have been deciding on where to take our mini-moon (saving for the BIG trip to NZ the following year) and as soon as i saw this, i knew exactly where we were going. reservations have been made!
ReplyDeleteoooh, NZ, amazing!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh, I LOVE this. I've been researching English cottages lately, but this looks equally lovely!
ReplyDeleteI have been research honeymoons. This looks amazing! I want! I want! I want!
ReplyDeletethis looks gorgeous. if you want something a little cheaper, you may really like chico hot springs in montana. it's quirkier, too.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.chicohotsprings.com/
Ahh, yes I could see myself being happy there!
ReplyDeletei've been daydreaming about Patagonia. i wouldn't call myself an outdoor person but i'm always longing to get back to nature, being amongst the land and sky, away from "the world." MMMM Patagonia!
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty cool but who on earth has 42 friends? hahaha
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. This is amazing. And lucky for me, it's in Colorado. I'm going to rent it out when I'm rich.
ReplyDeleteYes! Minus the horrid bear carpet :s
ReplyDeleteoh! oh! oh! i am literally aching to go there now! my heart is doing double time!
ReplyDeletebefore i saw those photographs, i have been idly fantasising about going back to Berlin - in the winter all wrapped up and cosy, exploring all day long.
Beautiful! My husband and I just took a mini vacation to a state park - but I've had my eyes on Colorado. It's just an 8 hour drive from where I live. Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteUgh! This would be the perfect honeymoon spot for my soon to be hubby and me.
ReplyDeleteI came across this place when we were looking for honeymoon spots- out of our price range but gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow - If I lived in Colorado...I'd love to rent the entire place out for a small wedding. Or a bachelorette party! How fun would that be?? :)
ReplyDeleteThis would truly be a vacation/wedding/trip to remember! Wow is all I can say.
ReplyDeleteHow is it that I lived in CO for 6 years & never heard of this place?! Probably because it's out of my price range but even still...! I LOVE hot springs & this looks amazing. If you ever go to CO in search of hot springs the ones in Steamboat are great - you can rent out little cabins for the night & get massages in the springs etc. And they're a little more reasonable but not nearly as swanky ;-)
ReplyDeletei need to find 40 friends and have the time of my life :)
ReplyDeleteawesome pic, There is a place for the intellectuals thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteDunton Hot Springs is located in gorgeous Southwest Colorado. Not only is the resort a hidden gem it is close to some spectacular mountain towns like Telluride, Durango, Ouray and others. I personally have not been there but live in Southwest Colorado and I had researched last year for a potential anniversary trip. It would be perfect for a honeymoon or romantic getaway.
ReplyDeleteOh, dying to go to Dunton -- xo
ReplyDeleteThis looks absolutely amazing! I need to go here!
ReplyDeleteAHH take me there! I am dying to get a cabin out in Amish country this month.. still trying to get someone to go with me!
ReplyDeleteSwoon! I need a vacation now!
ReplyDeletewow, that kind of sounds like a dream come true. it looks so cozy!
ReplyDeleteI have been there and it is absolutely lovely. As I was doing volunteer trail work, we didn't actually stay there, but we got to drive through in our rickety old trail van. The San Juans are goooooorgeous. You should make it a real vacation rather than a dream one.
ReplyDeleteIt's as if they said, "Ryan and Chelsea: what would be your dream getaway?" and then made it come true! We'd probably need to take out a loan to go there, though! Ah well, a girl can dream, can't she?
ReplyDeleteomg, how much is it to reserve the whole town?!?! we should have a bloggers get away!!!
ReplyDeletei do worry though... that's kinda how scary movies start... ghost town... vacation.... trying to relax... then.... ring ring ring "the call is coming from INSIDE the building!"
eek...
but, i'd still go... hahaha
this place looks amazing! thanks so much for the find. hope you enjoy your trip out here to Santa Monica for the holidays. love your blog.
ReplyDeleteI went to a wedding there last summer. It was incredible... I've been dreaming of travelling to rural Japan and going onsen hopping...
ReplyDeleteoh man... i want to contact 42 of my nearest and dearest for this. this would be *fun* not to mention relaxing and peaceful. *ah*
ReplyDeletei think i'm in love.

I was dreaming for that kind of place where there are good wood houses and a very cool place that surrounded in green grass and trees. I never thought that it is going to real. With added wonderful hot springs.
ReplyDeleteThose huts in Colorado look like very wealthy stuff.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could go there some day.

I photographed rocks and trees and tide pools and nudes and all that stuff for years and years. Until 20 years ago when I found that I could do it in the studio and never have to travel.
