Room with a View perfume

When I was growing up, A Room With a View was one of my favorite books and movies. (I remember reading the book while lying on our trampoline in the backyard!) So I was thrilled to hear about this new perfume inspired by the passage where George and Lucy kiss for the first time in a field of violets.

  3. One of my favorite movies, too! I recently watched it with my 11 year old daughter and she loved it as well. That is truly one of the great joys of having kids - reliving things and getting to experience them as "brand new" through their eyes.

  15. I absolutely loved that book. I didn't read it until later in life, when a student I was working with had a paper to write on it. But I'm so glad I did. That first kiss as she falls into the violets...just heavenly. I'll have to check this perfume out!

  17. I got to smell this when I was at the CB shop last weekend, and I pretty much swooned. It does smell *exactly* like a sun-warmed field of violets.

  20. Perfume = romance. And when you throw intellect into the mix that makes for an incredibly beautiful perfume. Even though I've worn the same perfume for eight years (I even just blogged about the "how we met story" involving my beloved perfume and me) I am a sucker for anything that makes me feel beautiful AND smart and am now very anxious to try this one out.

  21. My hubbie and me loved this film so much we got married to "sogna di doretta" they use in the film-then popped into Santa Croce in Florence on our honeymoon- didnt find any corn fields with violets though, maybe when we've been married 20 years-
    so I think I'm due this perfume aren't I?

  22. When I saw the recent version (BBC, I think), I was sad to learn that she goes back to the pensione later and he has died in the war. Is that part of the book? I like the non-bummer ending much better. And I was just thinking yesterday, I wonder how the movie would have turned out if Daniel Day-Lewis and Julian Sands had switched roles. And lastly, I remember hearing somewhere that the only regret of one of the directors (I think) was that her hat in this photo should have been a straw hat because there was too much white in her outfit.

  26. Fell in love with the film when I was very young, and still love it to this day. When anyone asks me what my favorite film is I always say 'Room With A View'. I mean Freddy's hair alone is enough to carry that movie. Anyone? Seriously, I have already sworn that if I have a boy I am giving him a haircut just like Freddy's. I read the book about five years ago (I'm seventeen now), and loved it. What's more I read it while staying in a b&b that was furnished and decorated all over with lovely antiques, as well as having a gorgeous view onto mountains. In other words it was a fabulous holiday! Thank-you for writing about the perfume. It's a definite purchase. Smells good, right? Love and Joy xxx.

  28. Love the movie, love the book, love Christopher Brosius, love the perfume. I've been wearing it all week! I don't get a lot of violet out of it -- it's more like a cleaner, sweeter version of Black March or Wild Hunt, minus the dank logs and mushrooms and with extra sunshine and warm grass. And major notes of fennel! An anise-y garden scent, lots of rich dirt and leaves to it. What an awesome perfumer he is!
