Swedish dog

Ok, I have a random confession: I used to be scared of dogs. Since we never had pets growing up, I assumed dogs on the street would walk by and just bite my hand off! But Alex adores them so much that he's taught me to love them, too. Look at these sweet photos of Camilla Engman's pup Morran. What a seriously rad life she has in Sweden!

Do you have a dog? xo

  1. I'm a cat girl. Recently got two kittens. Would love a dog as well, though. Those pics are so funny - especially the bottom one of him contemplating the lake.

  2. I have never had a dog! My parents thought it was too much hassle (but that didn't stop us from having cats, rabbits, a lamb, parrots, finches, crayfish, SILK WORMS, turtles and fish).

  5. I do indeed have a dog, he is one half of the Kitty BEAR chronicles as I call him my little bear. He's a 15 year old yorkie poo and my best friend. Don't tell the cats though.

  6. I used to be afraid of dogs too. In fact whenI first got my puppy I was nervous to be around her alone. That changed quickly! Owning a pup is one of the greatest pleasures in life.

  7. Cute! No I don't have a dog.... I'm not keen on them. Too slobbery for me! haha. But I'm also allergic to them so that kind of stops me from having pets too!

  9. We're adopting our first dog tonight. I never had dogs growing up, so I'm a little nervous. He's such a sweetheart though, a puggle--half beagle, half pug--but he looks like a miniature black lab.

  11. I've got a 5-year old French bulldog named Spike. I bought him in North Bay, Ontario. I was living in Montreal in 2004. It was a long drive to get him.

In 2006, he followed us to Taipei, Taiwan. He's living nicely with a kitten we adopted last year.

He's a great dog and my wife and I want to become French bulldog fanciers once we move back to the US.

  12. I do!! He lives with my parents now. His name is Brinkley, but we call him everything but... like, Brink, Frinkles, Mr. Frinkles, Pup love, Monster, Frink, Frinkley, Pups. Interestingly, he responds to all names! Teehee! :)

  21. I have two dogs - Bella and Beemer. They are hound mixes and are rescues from a puppy mill situation (they are brother and sister!). When we first got them, they were so timid, but have warmed up a lot. Rescue dogs are the best! It's like they know they got a second chance.

  22. Miss Jo, I used to be terrified of dogs, too! When I was very little our across-the-street neighbors had the SWEETEST and most gentle sheepdog named Daisy. She never did anything to me.... except be twice my size! It took me until adolescence to be "ok" with big dogs.

Glad you've grown to like them. I am a cat person, but I do definitely see how dogs can fill a companionship void that a lot of cats cannot. And yay for adopting, Tracy. =)

I never had a dog growing up either and was either scared of them or just didn't want them to touch because of the possible Yuk factor. Since I met my husband I am now on my 4th dog - dalmatians to be specific - I'm in love. They are my babies and I'd happily have them on my lap 24/7. I'm missing them very much right now as I'm in Spain for the week and they are staying with my sister in FL - Get one for your husband for Christmas - greatest gift ever!

Out about in the world you would never guess that we are two complete loonies who come back into the privacy of our home and speak to our pups in tongues, roll around on the floor playing with them, let them sleep in our beds!!! Shhh it's our little secret.
Seriously, you should get one, they completely light up our life!

  45. Cute portraits of this doggie! She's living the good life.

Our dog has richly enhanced our lives. She's a fiesty little angel in dog form! Our Doxy is a medium-sized "island dog", which is what we in the Caribbean call a mutt. (We also refer to her as a Coconut Retriever- self-explanatory!)

She appeared on the scene right when we felt ready for another canine, a few months after losing our beloved old lab.

  47. Yes, I have some! : ) I don't just look at my dogs as dogs, but as extended family members. We have a Doberman and a Chihuahua. Both sleep with us and are pretty spoiled. I can't imagine life without them! I love the loyalty they give back and the love my family shares with them.

They are also always infected with rabies or even worse, they bark, howl and whine all day and all night. They roam everywhere , mate everywhere and leave feces everywhere Needless to say I will never own a dog. Too many sleepless nights in Chile...

I have the doggie radar (dogdar?) on all the time and can spot a cute dog from a mile away. My hubby and I have a siberian husky right now. My mom didn't have any pets growing up and was terrified of dogs for the most of her life. When I was little, we had a husky and for years and my mom was scared of him... it wasn't until we got a pomeranian that she started to love dogs. Nowadays, she's a dog lover too.

I'm kind of scared of cats though... after a BAD childhood experience. ;P

  57. We have a dog. Her name is lilly and she is an all white jack russel. We are currently trying to teach her to beg - which is pretty funny because she will sit up in the beg position and then VERY slowly fall over backwards... I think she thinks that is what "beg " means.

I used to be more of a cat person. never afraid of dogs but didn't like the slobber. then I got my own little puff ball and I have converted. now I am a lover of pretty much all dogs!

I think you've seen her before, but if you want to take a peek at the CUTEST dog in the world (no bias here, I swear!) click over to my blog-- I posted a pic of Hazel in her winter jacket in my last post :)

  68. I got my lab/golden retriever mix right after I graduated from college. A dog is certainly not a baby, but still, having a pet means you're responsible for a living creature. Mine's been a lot of work but I wouldn't trade her for anything.

  74. I, too, have spent the better part of my life being terrified of dogs on the street! And I blame it on the lack of animal companions in my home growing up as well. But I'm learning that when dogs are good and well trained, they're so wonderful!

No dog for me - my husband and I like to be footloose and fancy free and that means keeping to our own crazy schedules and not a dog's. It wouldn't be fair to leave a doggie at home while we're out and about so much. Some day when we're old and crumbly and home more often I'll think about a dog. For now I volunteer at an animal shelter to get my doggie fix.

  76. I wish wish wish we had a dog! I am the neighborhood animal stalker. Everytime Maddox, the English Bulldog from a few doors down comes out to play, I run outside to greet her:)
    I love animals so much.
But alas, my boy has severe allergies...ho hum.

  77. my boyfriend used to be the same way! he never had pets growing up but he fell in love fast with my family's dog and since then is the biggest dog lover i know- seriously obsessed. for right now we are lucky enough to have a cat with very dog-like tendencies but once we have a bigger apartment we cannot wait to add a little pup to the family

I love dogs now though. We have a very neurotic terrier, who I'm very much attached to.

  83. I used to never be afraid of dogs until a year ago. While I was walking home from class, a dog came out of nowhere and started barking at me and biting me. I only got a couple scratches, but ever since I have been afraid of dogs with no owner

    ReplyDelete
  84. I was the same- totally terrified of dogs since we didn't have one. I could only have birds and hamsters because my mom didn't want to take care of a dog- and can I just say- BIRDS ARE THE MESSIEST THINGS, EVER? OMG.

So something funny happened when my twin sister and I moved out of the house and on our own- she got a dog. And then she got another dog. And then she got a dog for me to keep me company. And then she bought three more dogs. And then my mom bought two dogs for herself. So we went from being a family of absolutely NO dogs for 22 years to a family of 4 humans, 9 dogs in a timespan of about oh- 6 years.

I have two long-haired chihuahuas. They are my absolute babies! They're little licky lovebuggy clowns beneath a shakey, snarly exterior. Trust.

(Or as I explain to others- they only snarl at small children, because they are chihuahuas and you can't take the chihuahua out of a chihuahua. Something about a small child's rough motor-skills freakity-freaks them out, and it is what it is.)

(But here's my baby chi, Petunia, sleeping with my Husband. SEE? LOVEBUGS.)
