Red lipstick

This fall seems to be all about red lipstick. (I can't stop blogging about it!) Jenny went on a hunt for the perfect shade, and the winner was Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Red. Doesn't she look gorgeous?

  5. How pretty! I so wish I could wear red lips. I was totally inspired by the gorgeous make-up in your "Old Soul, New Heart" post and actually bought a red gloss, which is lovely...but I long to wear a matte red lip! ;)

  6. I'm a fan of Laura Mercier's creme lip colour in Truly Red. If I don't want a full-on crimson pout, I'll just dab it on for a light stain or layer it with a peachy lip gloss.

  7. I love her blue eyes with the red lipstick. So pretty. I think a lot of women feel like we can't wear red lipstick. Maybe we just have to find the right shade of red.

  8. I always remember my grandmother saying to me: " when you grow up, never leave the house without your red lipstick 'cause you never know who or what opportunities may occur every day. Always be ready!", this she used to say while applying on her red lipstick hah!

  13. I LOOOOVE that color on her! i'm a huge loyalist to face stockholm's silk, but sometimes i cheat with nars' lipstick pencil in cruella. red lipstick instantly makes me feel prettier!

    ReplyDelete
  14. i think the trick is searching for the perfect shade for your skin tone/hair color/etc. jenny's dark hair looks so pretty with the lip color! xo

  20. I love red. I might be just a tad too blonde to pull it off. Jenny's coloring is much better than mine for pulling it off. Also, I think MAC makes some great colors...my alternative is to do a red lip stain, as opposed to a full-on lipstick. Works for me and snow white complexion!

  21. I wear Lancome's Piha Red, which was created after the coles of Christian Louboutin's...it's a great shade if you're looking for one!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yea! I've tried so many different red lipsticks with no luck. I have the same shade of brown hair, blue eyes, and fair skin just like her! I must try that brand/color of lipstick now.

    ReplyDelete
  23. i've always prefered to do my eyes over my lips, but you're right, this season, red lips are huuuuge! i need to scout out the perfect shade...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes, that's a great Red... I recently bought "Revlon 725 Love That Red" and it lasts all day, even through lunch!

    ReplyDelete
  25. yay for red lipstick! she looks like the missing gilmore girl!

Love the red. Whenever I wear white or royal blue I usually put some on. And your right- you instantly feel so pretty!

  28. I LOVE red lips, and have bought two different brande/shades- but the color always seems to turn pink on me :(
I'm still searching for that perfect color, though!

  30. i love red lips. my fav colour. so chic yet sexy.

  31. It is the shade, yes & coloring. Mine is exactly Jenny's but I'm older now (wah). Texture is really important, of course. Matte can be aging -- even on someone younger. She looks great (Jenny). If you want a treat, Tres Tres Dior is good; MAC's Russian Red is as well. Actually, every line -- high to low -- has good reds. Deep pinkish-red is good for those who perhaps shouldn't go too red but it achieves similar look. (I've used Catherine by LORAC for this purpose.)

I type this at the direction of a damn bossy French makeup artist who (she's right here). She also says, what ees thees snobbery (she means me) about Revlon and seemeelar. She's right: Revlon's Really Red is excellent & bunches of dragon ladies like this one here over my shoulder carry it in their big black Frenchie doctor bags to work on other people's faces.

What is she wearing? Nude lipstick but of course. Contrarian!

    A cheery red ciao!

  32. its perfect for her, really makes her blue eyes pop!

  33. thanks a bunch, joanna! i think red lipstick makes any girl look pretty as long as they find the right shade. it just takes patience--it took me awhile to find mine.

  35. very nice. like keli, I wore red lips for halloween too! they were pretty bright but it was fun wearing super sassy lips for once. I never do that during the day! but it got me thinking that maybe I should try to be a bit more adventurous...

  40. I'm all about red lips right now too! And red used to make me feel so conspicuous and self-concious. It just seems so of-the-moment right now! I found a great one by Dior (Dior Addict, I think is the lipstick formula) called Scarlet Siren. More understated but still a strong red. Makes my teeth look whiter too! And I am in love with a Kevyn Aucoin lipstick called Principessa -- more daring though.

  41. You may like Russian Red (MAC) ... There´s a band with this name too, and it is actually called like this because of the lipstick!! ;)

See... you are not the only one obsessed!!

This shade looks great with her dark hair and light eyes- too pretty!

  69. I always look like a clown in red lipstick. Sometimes I think it just looks better on thinner lipped gals, or maybe I just haven't found the right shade. she looks adorable.
