Home sweet home

The dark winter days can be a bummer, but one of my favorite parts of the holidays is decorating our little fireplace. This weekend, we put up a garland, along with a grazing brass deer. Even though the fireplace doesn't actually work, the room already feels much cozier.

P.S. The framed photo is by Anne Hall.

  15. Aw, so pretty! My current and last houses haven't had a fireplace, but it is a must-have in my next home. A fireplace (even a non-working one) really makes an apartment or house feel warmer.

  16. Love it! I wish my fireplace had a mantle. If your fireplace doesn't work, they have some amazing faux-fires out there that use gel...something like this:

Would definitely add to the coziness!

  53. I find it enjoyable trying to decorate fireplaces since they're just square but what to put to make it look presentable since it's in the center of the living room amuses me.

We skip decorating this Christmas too. We just plan to change the pillow cases, mantelpiece and flower vase on the center table to make it look quite festive. Poor, I know!
