Wedding: Favors

We debated having wedding favors--were they a waste of money? would our guests end up throwing them away?--but then we remembered these awesome heart holographic glasses. When you wear them, all points of light (candles, headlights, street lamps) turn into hearts. They're really awesome, and we gave them to our guests so they could have a romantic walk (or cab ride) home through Manhattan. (P.S. I'd love to wear a pair on the Brooklyn Bridge sometime!)

I got those for a friend's bachelorette party in Vegas (lots of lights there) & they're also good to slip into wedding cards. So cheap & fun. Yay!

My family has 'christmas' versions of these and bring them out every year and stare at our tree. They turn lights into christmas trees.

How incredibly sweet! We didn't have them for our wedding (they're not all that commonly done on this side of the Atlantic) but for the reception in the US we had tins of green tea with a verse from Ovid printed on them and heart shaped infusers.

A very practical question (I hope it's not tacky!): Can you share with us the rough budget for your wedding? I am planning mine and am unsure about reasonable costs.

That is the best favor idea ever. I love it! I went to their website and under holiday glasses they have ones that show snowflakes. I need some so I can imagine it snowing in the South. That would make a great holiday party favor.

This is ADORABLE!

Joanna Goddard said...

anonymous -- well, we worked with many of our friends to do the various parts of the wedding (flowers, desserts, invitation, etc.), so our budget was a little different. the average wedding in the US is about $20,000, i think, but you can obviously have a beautiful wedding for much, much less than that. just depends on the type of event you want and the kinds of details. good luck! ps. you might like the blogs A Practical Wedding and East Side Bride. xo

thank you for these lovely comments!!!

I adore those heart glasses for wedding favours, wish I had thought of that!! I'd love to buy just a couple pairs, they would be a very fun and cheap valentines idea. I noticed on the link that they only do wholesale of 50 pairs or more- did you come across any suppliers that sell them individually?

Your wedding was stunning!!
