Wedding: Picnic brunch

We couldn't bear to let our guests go quite yet, so for the Sunday morning after our wedding, we arranged a casual brunch in Battery Park's Rockefeller Park, which is right on the water, with old schooners sailing by. After a very rainy weekend (there was even mention of a hurricane!), we were thrilled to see the sun come out. My mom ordered delicious uttapas from Hampton Chutney (Indian pancakes with savory toppings), and we had a bubble machine, balloons, frisbees, bikes, hula hoops and lots of blankets. We loved lying around in the grass, hearing the post-game wrap, and watching the little dudes chase each other around. (Two babies even played footsie!)

Next up: The final post with final thank yous. xoxo

(My dress and Alex's shirt were both from Steven Alan. The giant pink balloons were a nod to our engagement photos by Max; you can find similar balloons here.)

  20. Your brunch/picnic looks like so much fun! The day after the wedding is so nice and relaxed because the newlywed couple is so happy to be married and the worries of planning the wedding and everything going off without a hitch are over with.

I loved being with my family the day after our wedding (the second-to-happiest day of my life). We chartered a boat out to the Cedar Keys Wildlife Refuge, and spent some time on a deserted island. Because they live in different cities, my family barely knew my husband's family, they had only briefly met prior to our wedding week. The week was perfect - our families hit it off better than we could ever have imagined, and I can't wait for the next time we are all together again.

  29. Hi Jo,

I'm a fan of the site and this is my first comment!

I have a quick question: Did you and Alex get free shirts from Steven Alan to wear? I'm curious because it struck me as a little bit odd you'd note what brand of clothing you both are wearing...like it's a product catalog?!

I think one of the best things about this blog is your authenticity, and if you're making paid endorsements, I'd like those to be separated from your personal endorsements. There's nothing wrong at all with making endorsements of course, it just shows how successful your blog is!

Hopefully I'm not the only Buzz Killington who is wondering about this and you could reply and let me know?

    Thanks!

    Kathy
